Why even say this? I guess everyone will see our draft board anyway. Why don't we just say we are taking a corner and be done with this draft stuff :)

I think he said it to give Dak’s agent even more leverage in negotiations.

Yes.. They’re that stupid I think.

Look at the moves they make.. Everything is reactionary. They never get out ahead of obvious problems. They wait for it to fail.

As it stands, the Cowboys are in position to have a top-five pick in the draft next spring, but quarterback will not be among the team’s priorities, according to Stephen Jones. The Cowboys have wanted to re-sign Dak Prescott all along and could us the franchise tag at a cost of $37.7 million. “Dak is our quarterback and we’re so fired up about him and him leading us in the future,” Jones said.

We won’t have a top 2 pick anyway and that’s what it will take to get a QB. We’ll pick 4th-6th and should get an elite defensive prospect.

I mean he could mean this, or it could be cover so that teams aren't trying to trade up above us during the draft. Dak is a top 10 QB though and most of these QB draft picks can't even manage to stay in the league let alone be a top 10 player. Maybe McCarthy changes the way we evaluate QBs, but I haven't seen much from us in this regard.

We narrowly escaped trading for Paxton Lynch and fortunately, Connor Cook was scooped up before we took him. We almost drafted Manziel. Do people really think we can get the right guy?

Never believed they would do anything. They see Dak as win now. We just need to trade down.

If you trade down someone will give at least another first next year and probably a second this year to get the qb they like. Then you draft defense.

or you take a tackle and go all d with the extra picks.

Mae play it right we can be a very good team right away next year again. The foundation is there

He just told you, as he and Jerry have done several times and will again.

This is what they do - keep the band together. They're not going to change course and seize an unexpected opportunity. They're "close", just ask them.
I mean if they are picking top 5 they get a unexpected opportunity regardless unless they pick a running back again......

I read that and the first thing I thought was "there's going to be some fireworks on this board".

First off, if this team finally comes together, we could still win the division and will not be drafting high. Second, if are drafting high, the smart play is trade back and get some extra quality picks in the draft. If they really think Dak is their guy (which they seem to do), then they need some help on D to make that work. Trade back and get some 2's and 3s.. trade Copper after the season and I would trade Pollard as well.. Go get some DL, S and OL in the first 3 rounds.
