Gilbert had good mobility. Moves a lot better than Dalton.

The Jones' must want to tank.
I dont think they are tanking, they are just really that stupid ! lol.
plus once a order is established, they stick with that order no matter what.
Gilbert almost beat the steelers, and anyone with any common sense would let him play the next 2 games, and see just what he can do.
But not the jones boys lol. They want to go back to the guy who could not get in endzone or score more than 10 points.
Maybe they see gilbert as a threat to them wanting to keep dak as starter? If gilbert went on winning streak, then controversy is started,
and they cant handle that.
So easier to just go back to dalton.

Now me I would look forward to the next game if gilbert were starting, but not if it is dalton.
Jones boys are making it hard to enjoy the cowboys this year.

And why he tells the world way in advance is beyond me. So dumb, it used to be funny , but now it is just frustrating.

He put up 50 yards of offense against The Football Team in a half of football. You pumping his tires is asinine when hes done nothing wearing the Star to warrant the praise.
I’m not “pumping his tires” by suggesting he can possibly hit 300 yards in a game. Sheesh.

just because hes the messenger as he was asked , doesnt mean he made the decsions. The coaches make those decsions. PERIOD..

prove otherwise the jonses have never made the depth charts or active inactive lists..they know the info because they are part of meetings and have had talks with the head coach and im betting that decsions was made before GG even took snap..but lie i said should Dalton look bad in practice or the first half of MN game, well he will be taken out.hes simply getting his job back..

nothing to see here..
How do we know that he didn’t already talk with Mike? A lot of posters are making assumptions here (not you).

For the first time, I actually agree with Stephen. We need to tank and the way to do that is keep Dalton there.

I'm so tired of Stephen. This young guy played way better then Dalton! Keep him in there. Better player-cheaper and could be a legit backup for the future. Truth be told he has to play Dalton because once again he and his clueless dad over paid for a sorry player and must play him to justify the money. Then he goes and says McCarthy will be back next season regardless of the record. Yea. That really gives ole Mike incentive to coach better there:facepalm: I said it once! I'll say it again. Let Charlotte Jones run the team-please. I'd put real money that she would turn this team around before clueless Jerry or Stephen.

Why? Dalton sucked. He was basically Brandon Weeden 2.0.

I’ll tell you why they’re going back to Dalton.. because they paid him a lot of money and by starting Gilbert, they’d be admitting how inept they are as a front office

The truth is that Gilbert would probably never live up to his one performance that has so many Cowboys fans excited. Dalton should give Dallas the better chance of winning, and that's why they are going with him. If he shows that he's cooked, then Dallas can go back to Gilbert.

We tend to do this with players, overrate or underrate them based on one performance. I don't have a problem going back to Dalton if coaches feel it's the right move. He was considered a great pickup as a backup, essentially getting a starter-quality player. There's nothing wrong with giving him the chance to live up to it.

Shouldnt this be McCarthy's decision if he's a starter or not?

The hell is this? Oh right, its the cowboy front office.

Looks like the front office wants to keep that top 5 pick safe. Garrett Gilbert might be good enough to get this team to an extra couple of wins. Gilbert may not be able to win the division, but still could lead the team to enough wins to drop them out of the top 5 pick and draft position is a motive in why they want to go back with Dalton as the starting QB.
