A lot can change between now and the draft. However, why would Jones come out and say we would consider a QB and piss off Dak? Or why would they devalue him and tip off teams they value an unknown rookie more?

I know we're hyped up on Lawrence and Field, but entertaining some offers for the pick is the right thing to do if there's not someone there you're in love with. No QB would have saved the defense to start this season and we're going to need a lot of defensive guys. If you can get multiple years of multi premium picks you can rebuild your entire defense cheaply.

I have no idea how draft order will pan out but if we get the number 1 or number 2 pick you look hard at the two QBs. What's their ceiling vs Dak, can they at least be a top 10 QB while saving 30 million a year?

As it stands, the Cowboys are in position to have a top-five pick in the draft next spring, but quarterback will not be among the team’s priorities, according to Stephen Jones. The Cowboys have wanted to re-sign Dak Prescott all along and could us the franchise tag at a cost of $37.7 million. “Dak is our quarterback and we’re so fired up about him and him leading us in the future,” Jones said.

Of course not, what is he going to do, come out and say that we will draft a QB if we have a top 5 pick? No, Stephen is not that dumb.

Even Stephen has gotten tired of reading the mindlessly stupid “don’t pay Dak” on the board every day!

I would be tempted to at least threaten to draft a quarterback to get some team in need to trade with us, hopefully giving us a good defender in the process. I'd want their first and a defensive starter. Forget draft picks, we need a bona fide player.

They didn't even sign Dak when they had the money. It's funny how they praise him, but don't pay him. Cowboys might be the worst ran football product in the league.

Landry and Tex set it up, and Jerry n Stephen is nothing but a business man...zero football acumen, that's why they hide behind the committee decision making approach.

Shut up, Stephen. You'll get your chance to humiliate the team, the fans, and yourself soon enough.

We’ve had tyron for 10 years, if we could transition to Sewell for another 10 year with 20 years of hall of fame left tackle play many teams would dream of having such a position pinned down.

Sorry guys, if anyone thinks that Dallas is moving on from Dak I think they're being delusional. Best hope is for a top 5 pick that we can either draft a defensive stud or trade back and stockpile picks.

But knowing Jerruh and his bone headed son they will probably draft another RB or WR

What's better than competing for a draft pick between 16 and 25? More of it of course!

if somehow we ended up with the number 1 pick, we take Trevor... guaranteed. Even if you still decided you are signing Dak, you are still taking Trevor and packaging him to a team that drafted somewhere in the top ten, and they draft the player you want. You give them Trevor, you get the player you had them take, plus you get 2 numbers 1s in the next 2 following seasons............ thats how high teams think of Lawrence.
