Its everyone else's fault. Apparently. Apparently Zach Martin is a 30 point a game difference maker at RG.

But Zach Martin is now back. So we will see what excuse they come up with for Dalton NOW.

Something tell me these geniuses are done talking about this topic (or this year) and will now (as they are doing in this thread) hyper-focus on the draft and getting a rookie QB to replace Dak. So they won't even bother to come up with a BS excuse by why Dalton is not matching Dak's production with the same offense.

These idiots told us over and over and over again that once Dak was gone, we will see how overrated he is by the team doing better without him than with him...

Now that BS has blown up in their faces...they just turn their entire attention to arguing that a rookie QB is better than Dak...after spending years saying that we would be a championship team without Dak...only to see that we are in contention for the 1st overall pick without Dak.

Amazing how that works.

Is it crazy to think the Cowboys could take a quarterback if they have one of the top picks in next spring’s draft? Yes,” Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. “You’re asking me is it crazy to bring the idea up and I’m answering it, yes. We’re playing games here guys, but it’s not the thing to be talking about here at all. You know, Dak is our quarterback.”

The word “crazy” is well chosen when speaking of Jerry Jones as a pro football GM.

It was pretty funny. The Dez thread on Sunday had a lot of the same people in it. I see a correlation.

It's crazy to Jerry because the last two QBs he wanted to take in the first round were Johnny Football and Paxton Lynch. :muttley:

You've said it, I've said it, others have said it - Dak isn't going anywhere. If the tag wasn't an option Jerry would've caved this year.

Some folks just need to indulge their QB draft fantasies until next Spring when Jerry makes his next Jerry Move™
.

Take a bow Jake........ Jerry just blew a hole in their tanking fantasy (LOL). Like I said in another thread, you don't pay a player you don't believe in $31M. Look at all the vet QBs that changed teams this year. Any could have been franchised to stay with their team but the teams already knew they were going a different direction.

all indications are that Dak will recover fine and he’s clearly their guy. Much smarter to invest in the D

There is no indication that Dak will be able to move as well as he did prior to the injury, or that he won't hesitate to move like he did before the injury, and there won't be until he's on the field again. But yes, Jerry and son have tipped their hand numerous times that Dak is their guy. And it is smarter to invest in the defense at this point.

Are you talking about Brett Farve / Aaron Rodgers?

If so, in 2005 when GB selected Rodgers, Brett Farve was 35 years old. He may have still been a Top-10 QB, but he was clearly not young.

When the Colts selected Andrew Luck in 2012, Peyton Manning was not only was 36 years old, he missed the entire 2011 season with a neck injury.

So in both cases, those picks made sense. Their franchise QB was old and getting close to retirement. Dak is no where near the age of either Farve or Manning when those teams made the heir apparent picks.

True and at least you got the age part right. But was Aikman a Top-10 QB in the NFL BEFORE he ever stepped foot on a NFL field?

Aikman was selected #1 in the 1989 draft, Walsh was #2 overall in the 1989 supplemental draft. Simply put, the Cowboys did not have a QB and knew they needed one desperately. So understandably, they did everything in their power to make sure they got one.

So ...... I have yet to see an example of a YOUNG TOP-10 NFL QB being replaced by an early draft pick.

Still waiting.

Yep, musta skipped over the age part.

The only other one off the top of my head that I remember is Montana and Young. And again, Montana was older I think and Young was originally drafted by the Bucs so that was a trade.

Basically boils down to what anyone's opinion is of Daks ceiling being a consistent top 10 QB or if when paid, and resources are less abundant, will he be Tannehill part II.

Nothing against Tannehill either.

Non-denial denial. Doesn't say we shouldn't pick a QB. Says "it’s not the thing to be talking about here at all." Says it's crazy to talk about it now.

Even if it’s not Lawrence or fields. Someone will fall in love with one of the other qbs and want to move up.

wwre in a great position at 2 or 3. Trade back get a first next year and an extra second this year.

3 picks in the top 50 this year.

Jerry will give the moon to the Jets for Lawrence as the old man sees Aikman part II.

Not sure fans realize the passion Jerry has for Dak. Can't quote the exact words, but remember him mentioning Stephen as in family. Not to mention he sees Dak as HIS QB, not Aikman to Jimmy or Romo to Parcell. You don't waste $31M on a players you don't believe in.........just don't. You make that decision BEFORE spending that kind of money.

Please. He paid Zeke. He paid Tank. He paid freaking Jaylon Smith. But he didnt pay Dak.

You realize, of course, that calling people idiots is against the board rules yes?

Amazing how that works right?
