I mean, I hope Dallas re-signs Dak.

But any comments they make now about not wanting to draft his replacement with a top pick don't mean much of anything.

In a sport like football where injuries are common, teams have to say the right things when guys get hurt like Dak did. They need to craft the illusion that they'll stand by guys who get hurt playing for them. They want players ready to run through walls for them, and that becomes less likely if the team is too up-front about how quick they'll move on from anyone who actually gets hurt trying to help them. If the team came out right now and said, "it's a shame about Dak but we are excited to move forward with a random 1st rounder filling his shoes next year," it wouldn't sit well with the remaining players who would realize they're just one injury away from the team throwing them in the trash.

Like, when Allen Hurns suffered a similar injury, at first we said all the right things about wanting him to recover and come back and play for us again. But, at the end of the day, despite him recovering enough to be ready for work, we still cut him a handful of months later. And we didn't even wait until a roster cut-down date. We cut him in mid-July before training camp even started, before he'd even had a chance to show on the training camp field or on the preseason field how he looked after his recovery.

In the NFL, like a lot of industries, you have to say the right things for awhile even if you plan to do the wrong thing once everyone's stopped paying such close attention.

I've read some takes that there isn't a Defensive player worth taking with a top 5 pick, so if we could trade down a few spots for a small basket of picks that might be smart.

I agree on Lawrence - he would be worth it, but he won't be there past #1.

You have? Please share that. I've read that as and Parsons are legitimately "generational" play era at their respective opinions. I'd love to hear the opposing view. Thx.

So if we got a OT with the first round pick he would not start over Collins and Smith. He would play if one got hurt. Would it not be better to get a starter for this D, who could play immediately.

It would be

Smith Sewell Biadasz Martin Collins

Then in a few years or games (lol) Sewell kicks to LT

I think Parsons is good. Damn good.

But his film doesn’t pop out generational. I am not a paid scout or professional, so I really don’t know crap lol. But he’s a great kid (has his degree), motivated (2 year old child was one of the reasons he declared). With him I think you’re getting a KJ Wright type player as opposed to Bobby Wagner.

There is nothing wrong with that at all. But I would probably lean towards the elite prospect in Sewell here

What the Panthers did last draft. Every pick on D and now they are better than last year D with alot of rookies.

Its amazing what they did. I looked at their roster a few weeks back and it’s essentially 4-5 rookie starters, a few 1-2 year guys and a handful of vets. You would never know

Agree and I remember when I posted on a thread, they have a new staff just like the boys and no off season and rookies and maybe seasoned vets are no more than 2 years in league and after 3 games, I posted they were better than us as a team and on D. Another poster said they were not. I was like oh yes they are.

I filled Bob Hayes gas tank when I was 13/14 working at my uncle's gas station.
That's awesome! Closest I came to the era was ticketing Lance Rentzel for a flight from DFW but I forgot where he was going. I think he was shocked I recognized his name from the ticket because I was so young - I would've been about 10 when he played! He did graciously give me his autograph for my boys- circa 2000..

Negative. They would put him at LG which when fully healthy is the weakest part of our o-line. Would bump him outside to tackle when the time is right. Luckily Tyron and La'el had surgery early in the year so come Spring they should have a decent glimpse of there future

Agreed. No defensive player feels like a top 5 graded player.

There's a steep drop off from Lawrence/Fields/Sewell to the rest of the top 10

Lance is still a nice guy. He was working in Northern Virginia a few years back and I was able to meet him. Signed some autographs and pictures

Foolish to draft anyone with a top 5 pick. Trade that sucker down and get more picks. Dallas has way more needs in other spots than QB,. I get it, the haters want all in on a new QB. A new QB that is going to do what? Play OL? Defense?

Save it. So many holes in this team. Yet , some in here only seem to be sticking their heads up one.

I say if we had the 3rd pick, trade that pick but still stay in the top 10 and coral more picks to help this D.

Even we weren’t interested in a QB, WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU BE BROADCASTING THAT? Unreal.

someone remind me when the last time the top QB or top 2 QBs in the drafts have become more then serviceable? ie 1-2 like this year Lawerence and Fields?

Heck a guy like Trask or the kid from BYU or ND could be better then the top 3 taken, it happens when's the last draft where the top 2 QBs turned out locks , i mean franchise PB possible HOF types? its been the Mid round guys or later like Rogers, Brady, Mahomes and others were better then the QBs taken ahead of them..Daks close to being the better of the qbs in his draft if you factor where he was taken with nothing given up..
this gives us a QB that either can play behind Dak but we will have him if Daks FT again holds out and or is traded..lots of options.

even if Dak signs LTD at team friendly price as we gain leverage from the injury, FT, AND have QB of the future. Possibly..
