We all knew the 2020 Draft class was incredibly deep for WRs.
But it may have exceeded expectations.

Here's a list of WRs drafted this year that are regular contributions to their teams.

15 _______1050 ______Jeudy
17 ________950 ______Lamb
21 ________800 ______Reagor

33 ________580 ______Higgins
34 ________560 ______Pittman
42 ________480 ______Shenault
46 ________440 ______Hamler
49 ________410 ______Claypool
57 ________330______ V Jefferson
59 ________310 ______Mims
81 ________185______ Edwards

We know Lamb is a keeper, but man, Higgins, Jeudy, Jefferson, Aiyuck, Claypool and maybe Reagor and more ...all seem like future Pro Bowlers.
We'll have to see about Ruggs. They sure paid a ton for him (a whopping 1200 in draft capital) and he seems a bit raw.

A monster value was Claypool--who cost only 410 in draft capital yet looks to be a beast.
Higgins at only 580 looks like a steal too. Knew that on draft day though.

Itll be interesting to see what the next couple classes produce. Even 2019 was a really good WR class. 2020 just took it a step further. WR may soon become the way of the RB if this keeps up. If you find guys at the position who can instantly contribute in rounds 2,3, and 4 why would you ever spend top money on the position?

So you're saying that we could have picked a defensive guy in the first round and still could have a starting WR? Not complaining about us picking Lamb though.
Doesnt mean it would have been for the best though. you still dedicated the next three rounds to defensive players. Would you rather have Lamb/Diggs or Pittman/Chaisson?

No doubt.

Hard to pass on Lamb at 17 though, so I get it. When BPA is THAT far separated from the pack, NFL draft history very strongly says that you will regret not taking the player.
Teams that reach for need get burned terribly, on average.

But yes, for me, a trade down into strength would be tempting.
Getting both Claypool and Antoine Winfield for cost of Lamb would be intriguing....if possible.

I almost wanted someone to take him before us so we wouldn't spend so much on a position of strength. So many other glaring needs. and a very deep class at WR where could easily good a good one later.

A year or two from now when Cooper is gone, this may look like a really amazing pick though.

Chaisson was the only defensive player that made sense there, even Cowboys had plans to draft him. But he's only got 1 sk this year for the jags. He certainly wouldn't have contributed much to this years team with the edge guys they have now.

Lamb should be a superstar by next season.

WR talent really fell off by the time our 2nd rounder was up, so maybe not

Pittman was long gone by our 2nd rounder. If we drafted a WR in the 2nd it probably would have been Mims

Funny, I was just going to look this up after reading thru this thread. Thanks for looking up his sack numbers.

Not guaranteeing the validity of this, but Jeff Cavanaugh just mentioned that the pick at 17 would have been Diggs if we didn’t pick Lamb, not Chaisson like we all thought. That could be a PR “leak” by the Cowboys to make them look good, that’s what he said a few days back

The run on WR was fierce.

Besides taking Lamb where we did, the only way we could (theoretically) have gotten a good/great WR and great value would've been to trade down.
Like I mentioned earlier.....getting BOTH safety Antoine Winfield AND Higgins or maybe Claypool for the price of Lamb would've been nice. But that'd require some trading and luck vs just taking the value staring us in face at 17.

When Dak was playing quarterback, CeeDee Lamb was on pace for like 1800 yards this year. This kid is super special, I wouldn’t trade him for anyone on that list.
