Depends on what someone's feelings on Parsons are, but this isnt as outrageous a statement as it first seems and is probably correct.
Parsons is a weak side linebacker. Those players are being replaced by hybrid safeties. He can’t cover receivers, running back and tight ends in the nickel defense that most defenses play now. Basically that is like drafting Jaylon Smith again. This time with a top 5 pick. Hell no!!

I was listening to some of the Cowboys podcasts most were saying they would trade down instead of picking Sewell. Tom Downey actually said that it makes no since to draft a guard in the top 5. Even if you think Tyron and Collins return 100% healthy you can not pass on a generational prospect. These talking heads are idiotic if they believe you pass on this monster that will improve your team all around and help Zeke return to glory.

Unless he can also play LT, I would trade down too.

That's a really poor OL, penei Sewell MUST be our target in April....

Hold on, it's only poor because are literally playing our 7th, 8th and 9th best OL.

It's not like these are our typical starting 5. That being said, I wouldn't be opposed to Sewell (f we are picking 3rd or 4th he very well would be the best player on the board I would guess) but I think people exaggerate how terrible our OL is.

Think they didn't consider making that move earlier? McC once started 5 OG's on his OL and won a playoff game. He spent a lot of his time patchworking GB's OL when he was there as it was seldom the same group over the 13 years.

I make two assumptions about these "who should be starting" ideas. One, the coaching staff knows more than I do because they have more inside information than I do and I am not an expert on OL's. Two, they know more than the posters on this web site because I am not aware of any NFL OLC's posting here.

When I think something is obvious, as I did moving Martin out to RT, I also assume there is something not obvious about that. And this may not be something they want to do or they've been waiting for reasons unknown to us.

I am making one more assumption. Since the OL injuries are second only to the QB, I do assume they're spending a great deal of time addressing this challenge.

Stop jumping to conclusions that they don't know what their doing because they're not sharing everything with us. This OL is a jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces.
Crushed it!!

Sewell is a LT. Some people are saying let him play LG while Smith is still available to play.

IMO if Dallas is in position they should pick Sewell.

Meanwhile i cannot believe how McGovern looks like he's never lifted weights in his life.
when i saw him vs Arizona, his arms was so skinny i thought i was looking at Blake Jarwin trying to play OG.
Same here, I wonder if he just couldn't do any pressing at all for the year his pec was torn (and then had a setback?)...

Maybe he's past that now and can get stronger going forward.

Im against taking OL or any offense for that matter but it does worry me lookig at the 1st round defenders avuibble in the draft none appear to be a Earl Thoams, Lawrence tailor, Reevis, or Aaron Donald

when you are picking that high and need all positions on defense but cant really see a defender worth atop 10 pick, its tough..so trading down has to be the play..

the draft will change a lot between now and April and we will have a lot more info on players and draft positions but CB may end up having the better players 5-10 area..

Sewell and the 2 QBs are really the only 3 players that feel like top 8 picks in terms of talent

Would suck if we picked like 4th or 5th, the drop off after 3rd is gigantic

People will whine about investing more in the o-line but reality is tackle is the 3rd most valueable postion and it's not like we have had a sharks tank of draft capital invested in it (La'el was supplementary draft, Tyron was drafted almost 10 years ago, Doug Free was a 4th rounder back in 2007)

I'm undecided if it's between parsons and sewell. Though Parsons has played and is capable of playing mlb. He's a lot bigger than jaylon was coming out of college

I'm actually glad they waited till now to do the switch. It would of been 100% BS if Martins all-pro team streak got broken because they moved him to tackle which isn't technically his position

Timing (after a bye week break to prepare) looks sensible to me *shrug*
