Do you double up at CB?

I don't think Robinson possesses the skillset to be a starter at CB. Been hoping I'm wrong, but signs aren't pointing that way.
We just don't know how the staff sees him, what we heard early on that safety might be his position moving forward. I hate taking small school projects.

Today showed how bad the CBs are without Diggs. I think there’s no question you take Surtain/Farley if they’re there in the top 10.

Would you also take a CB in the 3rd to play nickel?

Depends on who's there in the 3rd. If a CB is a clearly higher rated player than other positions, then take him. But if he's not clearly higher rated than say, an OT or S or LB, then go with the position of need that you didn't address in the first or second round. To me this draft is more about need than bpa, not saying you would ignore somebody like Diggs, who was rated by some as a first rounder but was still available in the second, but again, it depends on whose there in the 3rd...

Caleb Farley, Patrick Surtain, or Jaycee Horn in the 1st.

I want Allie Green IV (Tulsa), Camryn Bynum (Cal), Jack Jones (Arizona State), Chase Lucas (Arizona State), Marco Wilson (Florida) later in the draft.

This man is clearly in the xmas spirit! Did you mail this list up north yet? :lmao2:

If he cant even play slot cb he shouldn't have been drafted.
Never understood why anyone ever thought he could. He lacks short area quickness, which is a must for slot CB. I'm curious as to who started the slot corner talk, because his skillset appears to be opposite of that, a tall jam corner w/ limited agility. Frankly, I doubt he's around much longer. Sure has been a ton of hype by fans over a 4th round dart throw.

IMO, I think they tried him at S due to his inability to mirror a WR. They thought maybe they could train him as a downhill S.

Size/speed/length does a CB little good if he can't flip his hips.

Sure...but his scouting reports knock his technique not his athleticism.

If he can polish up his footwork he could turn into a serviceable player for us. Let’s give the kid a chance, most rookies taken mid/late take a little longer...Ex Donovan Wilson.

Amik Robertson, Louisana Tech, would've been a better pick.

I have to disagree. His inability to mirror points toward limited agility. Agility is part of athleticism. Especially in the NFL.

Hey, I'm rooting for the kid, it just doesn't appear as if he's going to do much at this point. Of course we're giving him a chance. He's no Wilson.

Im just reaching for anything because that safety stuff is bs. He will never be a relevant safety.

There were a few drafted in the same range who have seen the field this season.
We put way too much emphasis on height. Hey, I prefer taller CB's also, who doesn't. But the ability to mirror trumps all. We'd have been much better off taking one of the shorter guys who are ultra quick who fell due to height limitations.

But what are you basing that off of? His combine short shuttle was average but the speed/length helps to balance that out a bit as it shrinks throwing windows. He ranked very high in CFB in his last year in forced incompletions and also got his hands on a LOT of footballs so he's been around the ball.

And just a reminder, the Robinson you saw getting torched on Sunday was not him...different Robinson.

I frankly don't think he's an NFL player. Tall and fast does not necessarily = NFL quality. Need quick feet and loose hips, and that should be our focus. Unfortunately, we don't have an NFL quality GM, and that hurts us badly, much worse than most realize.

His scouting report was sketchy, prolly due to being a small schooler, but what stood out was the statement that he doesn't mirror WR's well. That's the stuff I look for in scouting reports about DB's, and generally the inability to mirror means very limited success. That's why I don't have a lot of hope for him.

Ahh...maybe we;re getting inconsistent scouting reports bc the "watch outs" for what I"m seeing is technique and just being raw.

Regardless...I hope we at least give him a chance...it's a great year to see what we have in youngsters. If he's stiff hipped and can't cover...goodbye.
