1979- vs Hos Oilers- Oilers won 30-24 behind nearly 200 yards rushing from the great Earl Campbell.

I don't consider any game we lost great. But if we're going to include them, I still remember this one. One of my all time favorites with a crap finish.

Some Great History On Thanksgiving Day,Here IMHO Are The Most Memorable:

1-1966 Dallas 26 Cleveland 14-Coach Landry Said Going Into This One It Was The Biggest Game In Franchise History And The Team Responded,Don Perkins and the Defense Were Outstanding

2-1973 Miami 14 Dallas 7-The Matchup Of The Past 2 Super Bowl Champs Was A Tense Defensive Battle,The Dolphins Defense Was Just Tough To Score On.Dallas Had 2 Big Chances After They Went Down 14-0,Roger Staubach Barely Missed Bob Hayes On A Wide Open 70+ Yard Pump And Go And Miami Stopped Them On a 4th Down Play Inside the 10 When Roger Audibled To A Calvin Hill Pitch. The Last Time Roger Called His Own Plays In A Game.

3-1974-Dallas 24 Washington 23-The Best One Ever IMHO.Clint Longley Has A Game For The Ages. After Roger Gets KO'ed,Longley Throws For 203 Yards In A Quarter And A Half.Duane Thomas Scores 2 TD's For The Commanders To Add To The Drama But Longley Puts The Game Winner Up In The Sky To Drew Pearson For An Improbable Comeback. The Route By Drew To Set Up The Commanders DB'S Was Simply Amazing

4-1979 Houston 30 Dallas 24-Great Matchup Between the 2 Texas Teams.Earl Campbell Is Unstoppable,Roger Staubach Has A Great Day As Well.A 12 Men Penalty Gives The Oilers A 2nd Chance To Go Up,Then Staubach Leads The Cowboys On A Dramatic Drive That Just Falls Short.

5-1993 Miami 16 Dallas 14-Snow And Ice In Dallas Leads To A Close Defensive Contest.Kevin Williams And Lincoln Coleman Have Big Days. The Cowboys Snatch Defeat From Victory When Leon Lett Attempts To Recover The Game Cliching FG Block.Dallas Will Not Lose Again Under Jimmy Johnson.

6-1994 Dallas 42 Green Bay 31-The Power And Talent Of The Cowboys Is Simply Too Strong.Jason Garrett Puts Up 36 Points In A Brilliant 2nd Half And Emmitt Smith Has An Big Game Behind The "Great Wall"

7-1998 Minnesota 46 Dallas 36-Randy Moss And The Vikings Offense Are Unstoppable.Troy Aikman Does Everything To Keep Dallas In It But The Abscence Of Deion Sanders Is Too Much For The Dallas Secondary.

Because greg ellis helped so much more?

Moss should have been the choice.

Did I ever say Ellis was the right choice? It isn't one or the other. Moss always looked great when he had big arm QBs who could launch the ball, which displayed his skill set the most. We did not have that at all.

1990 is my favorite thanksgiving day game. Dallas beat Washington and it was the coming out party for the triplets. I watched it with a bunch of trash talking Commander fans. Great fun. I miss those guys.

Are you a Moss fan or a Cowboys fan? I can't fathom a Cowboys fan liking a Cowboys loss as the favorite turkeyday game.

Cowboys fan but I’m sick of this franchise screwing up obvious draft picks. That non pick made me realize this FO had NO IDEA as to what they were doing. Longley’s comeback made me a ‘boys fan.

Most Receiving TD on Thanksgiving (All-Time)......as in ALL TIME

Tony Romo has had plenty of standout performances on Thanksgiving, having three games with 3+ touchdown passes on the holiday. Romo has tossed 18 touchdown passes to 11 interceptions in 10 Thanksgiving starts

Ouch.

Aikman’s arm was plenty. Who was throwing to Alvin Harper, one of biggest deep threats at that time?

Here are some great ones- I saw every one of them live on some TV, lol...
  • 1974- vs Washington. Cowboys win 24-23 on Drew Pearson late TD pass from backup QB Clint “Mad Bomber” Langley, who had replaced Roger Staubach who had a concussion.
  • 1979- vs Hos Oilers- Oilers won 30-24 behind nearly 200 yards rushing from the great Earl Campbell.
  • 1993- the “Leon Lett” game vs Dolphins -Mia won 16-14 when Lett touched a live ball after Cowboys blocked a FG attempt by Mia. Dolphins recovered and kicked the winning FG on next play.
  • 1994- vs Packers- Cowboys win 42-31. The game where Jason Garrett stepped in for an injured Troy Aikman and outdueled Brett Favre.
There are others...
was 79 when Mike Renfro had a big day against us a few years before we traded for him. Im getting old my memories are getting jumbled

Some that come to mind in no order....

1982....Cleveland. Fairly easy win but strike just ended. Was nice to have football back for TG.

1990....Washington. That may be the game when it all came together for that group.

1992....Giants. Only time I attended the game. An absolute beat down. I had no clue at the time Dallas wasn't scorching hot all year and froze in the stands.

1993....Miami. Worst flu of my life. Was in shock when I tuned in and saw a white field. Dolphin fans love to talk smack on this one. The win put them at 9-2. They never won again and missed playoffs. We never lost again and raised a trophy.

1994...Green Bay. Probably the best game (didnt see Longley though).

2002...Washington. Me praying Chad Hutchinson was the savior lol.

2004: Chicago. Me praying Drew Henson was the savior lol.
2004 was when Julius Jones had that big game

What is it about years ending in 4?

1974 - Clint Longley game, 24-23 over the Commanders.
1984 - A 20-17 win over the Patriots.
1994 - Jason Garrett's big day, 42-31 over Green Bay.
2004 - Drew Henson's only NFL start. Vinny took over at halftime and Dallas beat the Bears 21-7.

Unfortunately, the luck ran out in 2014 (lost 33-10 to Philly).

Games I remember and enjoyed:

1981 51-7 over Seattle
1990 win over Washington where Emmit, Troy and Irvin gave a glimpse
1995 win over KC; Irvin was dominant
2008 over Seattle; a nice stress free domination in a year and time when life was chaotic
2016 over Wash; revenge for 2012

The fact that this reminded me of the Leon Lett game made me really not regret a bit of day drinking.
