There were a couple early in the year that are just as bad.
yes early in the ATL game but figured hey every now and again this happens but not in that situation at that time with the division and season on the line.100 out of 100 times you punt..

If it was designed as a run, very silly to call that play. But that's not why we lost the game. Fans are upset, I get it. But this team was never going anywhere. There is just too much that has gone wrong. You can literally point the finger at the entire organization, all the injuries, and other factors.

seriously 4 point game, 12mions left 4th QTR,, defense playing well, inside our own 30, and fake punt that basically ruined the game, season, and you can see the team and defense give up. The air just went out of the building, out of the players and the route happened all because of one call....

who calls this play at that time? did fassell have cart blanche or did MM allow this?

i was all for giving the team , the coaching staff and players a mulligan for 2020,

now i want to see some firings, if MM doesn't fire fassell, then the entire staff is gone Monday morning..

im shell shocked, have version of football PTSD when this call happened i thought i drank and ate far too much, allice in wonderland type shock..it could not have been more of shock to see a professional staff do something in that situation that not one other coach would have done and then have the player run vs throw..!!!

to me its the worse call ive ever witnessed in my 50plus years on earth or 40years watching football..ughh:popcorn::huh::facepalm:
its weird but I stopped watching the game when they were still down by only 4 points and missed this play, but I knew something bad was coming

My wife asked why I didn't seem more upset, as I usually don't speak much following a loss, or I'm ranting, or I'm pouting. That 4th quarter just left me void of any emotion. It was beyond comprehension, or maybe it's a safety valve somewhere in my brain.
exactly i am still in shock , couldn't wait to see this place when i got back from the family's feast..i needed to vent because ive tried all season to be the voice of reason the fan making excuses but his is beyond comprehension..

im now on fore them all tank train bandwagon, i just cant make excuses fr the decsions made this season regardless of all the injurie's and there were so many anyone could make excuses even in this game but this game was winnable and that call was the worst ive ever witnessed and ive seen a lot of them..
someone talk me off the ledge, am i being too harsh, dramatic , and emotional? ..it doesnt feel like it..

I think it was a bad call but with horrible execution. The new Punter weighs 240 and was avoiding contact. Seriously, I've seen fat people initiate more contact pushing shopping carts in the grocery store.

I think you are being perfectly rational in your despair. This wasn't just an example of a terrible team with terrible coaching, but a terrifying smack in the face for our future. Because I know Jerry supports this clown show. When he says he loves our guys, and that he his has "his man", I absolutely believe him. He hasn't learned anything, or he just doesn't care. Combine that with crippling nightmarish contracts, and we can't dig out of this anytime soon, even if we had competent leadership.

Like you said, it was bad on so many levels. To add to what you already mentioned, it was 4th and TEN for starters and deep in our own territory -- but the worst is that they called an end-around?? The only reason fake punts ever work is because the punt return team is taken by surprise and don't have time to react.

But instead they call the one of the longest possible developing plays ever created. The WR had to run 20 yards laterally and almost 15 yards backwards just to receive the ball. By the time the WR makes it back to the LOS, half of the WFT players had already setup camp, roasted some pig, and were dancing around the campfire waiting for this atrocious play call to finally materialize.

Why not at least have the up-man or punter quickly run/pass the ball like usual if you're going to take that big of a risk? Ridiculous.

as much as much of what you state is true, a healthy 2021 team with good draft and few FA at worst even with this staff we improve to 10-6 or better, it will delay the process of jerry firing MM..sad but true, i can see a team that can play and beat many other teams when healthy..sort of like 2015 garrets reality was saved by 2016 , 2021 this team will be good, for some strange reason i believe this and despite the nightmare of 2020..

in perfect world id lie jerry or stephen to come out and fire the staff at some point maybe at years end but even if that doesnt happen we bounce back just by getting our starters back..

I've ran that play in Madden a lot, except I would usually pass. It seemed to work a good amount.

Maybe McCarthy spent the year off playing Madden too?

did he know the play was called and coming? or did fasell call it on his own?
No way that happens without the head coach at least knowing about it, man I would have thrown the red flags or ran out on the field naked to stop it if I was the head coach

He was so far behind the line of scrimmage I thought he was going to throw the ball. I mean, Wilson used to play QB, right? But running a reverse with one of the slowest players on our team was brilliant. He wasn't even looking to pass the ball. Way to go MM. I praise you for that call because you need to be fired. And those type of calls will definitely get you shoved out of the door.

No it’s not even close to being the worst call ever. The coaches had no choice but to pull out all the stops. Look at the big picture instead of a knee jerk ignorant reaction.
