I was one of those who wanted Urban Meyer as the HC after JG was let go

That may sound so cliché-ish, especially now with the 3-8 record.

But Urban wasn't just the latest "hot commodity" college football head coach. Wherever he's been, his teams have been (1) fundamentally sound in all 3 phases -- offense, defense, and yes, special teams. (2) His defenses in particular have been stout.

The dude not only knows how to coach; he knows how to coach today's game.

Now we're going to be heading into another off-season when, again, I'm going to be saying the same thing. I highly doubt he would run a true RPO 100% in the NFL, but I can tell you this: his defensive staff, and his coaching staff in general for that matter, would be better than we've got out there right now.

I still don't believe he was ever serious of getting back into coaching. At least not this year and in the NFL

Imo guys like him make a killing by being a recruiting god and having an *** load of talent in all 3 phases

Yes, he's a good coach too but I'm not sure he was strongly considering the NFL. I think all he said is that he would answer the call of Jerry did call him.

It would be fun to see how he would do with the Cowboys.

I was hoping for urban as well, but by no means was he a slam dunk to succeed in the nfl. He can’t just recruit his way to a top team at this level. You also can’t coach players the same way.

Jerry has said over and over again that he'd write the biggest check in the world to win another title....well it's time to put your money where your mouth is, Jerry. Can this inept staff, eat the contract and go get Urban. What I saw today was unfathomable stuff that I wouldn't even do on Madden.

U. Meyers can't be much of a man if he considered working for a puppet master like Jerry.

I honestly think we probably got the best coach for the job we can get if we are being realistic. Just look at our head coaching carousel......Barry Switzer to Chan Gailey to Dave Campo to Parcells to Wade Phillips to Jason Garrett..........why on earth would Urban Meyer even come here?

Put me down as a Meyer guy.....i wanted him because at least he was not a retread, which i hate. He is successful because he can coach but also relate to the young players. The NFL has turned into a young man's game. Twenty somethings rule, and thirty somethings are on their way out because of diminished ability and/or higher salaries. You can bet he would give the team an identity and then get players who succeed under that system----reminds you of anyone? Yes Jimmy J.... I feel he was open for listening to the Cowboys job, but he would demand full control a la Jimmy and JJ was having no part of that. No way was he going to remove himself from the spotlight. In his mind, he is in the HOF because of his football knowledge. :muttley:

McCarthy is a dud....he doesn’t appear to be an inspiring leader nor a quality game manager. Jerry can give him another season but similar results next season must result in his Nothing Nothing will change for years to come get used to it

I wanted Coach Urban Meyer also but that's all academic now, Jerry wont let McCarthy go anytime soon.
You might be surprised. Jerry isn't in-love with this HC like he was the previous guy. Jerry went this way because it seemingly mirrored the situation in GB when the won a SB (in Jerry's mind)
