If Dak would take a Wentz like contract, you give it to him and happily build around him. It will be tough but its a fair contract. Unfortunately, Wentz has a Wentz contract and he sucks. The Eagles basically screwed the entire NFL by handing that worthless gob of manure that contract. Well, them and Goff/Rams.

At $40m per year you are really starting to make things difficult. The Cowboys already have overpaid Jaylon, Zeke and Tank. They need to replace a lot of positions. Its going to take years to clean this mess up. By time the Cowboys have all of this dross off the payroll, Dak will be a free agent again. Why do it?

Same brilliant staff that took zeke at 4. We’re batting a thousand
For the record, I would have never drafted any RB that early. Or extended him. What's done is done.

Garapollo signed the largest contract in league history.

5 years for $137.5M, tell me KSK is $137.5/5= $19?
Oooops. For some reason, I used 7 years. My bad.

However, looks as if it averages out to 27.5 mil/season. Point still remains.

I hope we can re-sign Dak to a team friendly deal. But I hope we revamp the offense to be more balanced and ball control to help keep the defense off the field. Ever since we started using Moore as offensive coordinator and going pass happy we have become a losing team

I know there are lots of us that think like you. My point was more about the consistency of our decision makers

Sometime being consistent is a bad thing lol

This is stupid.

There are Dak critics who are suggesting that the players and Jerry are losing and playing badly intentionally to sabotage Dalton, after they claimed that Dalton was going to be the savior of the Cowboys or made claims that Dalton would at least hold down the fort without Dak. So I could see how some Dak critics would still try to find ways to blame Dak if he were traded away from a top QB draft pick and that draft pick doesn't live up to his hype or potential.

dak wanted a wentz like contract. 3 years, and Jones wanted a 5 year contract. Dak agreed to even do a 4 year contract and jones wouldn't relent.....so lets not go there....

no, point is that average salaries of QB go up every year......and thus 2018 when that contract was handed out, it was among the top in the league.....

if you want to compare past contracts, then perhaps you should have looked at Aikman's contract....that would have given you even a more solid case

Why years? Use all draft picks for the defense.

Not necessarily. They have been, but that trend may be fading due to it not working.

Honestly, I'd pay Dak around 37 mil per season if he'd sign a 10 year contract such as Mahomes's. That's the sort of contract we need w/ him so we can play w/ the money to add players. Dak insisting on 4 years is simply selfish. Not to mention stupid.

Not gonna worry about our top 10 qb when the defense is giving up 41 points to one of the worst offenses in the league

Decision at QB do you pay Dak 38 million on a tag or let him walk or do a sign and trade. We do not know if Dak will come back the same but absolutely not on a new contract only tag let him play a year first. I might be more incline too pray for losing get the second pick and draft Josh Fields it's a lower 4 year deal with a 5th Year Option than invest and re-build the OL this is their bread & Butter.

Dak is a better QB than Andy Dalton, but paying 40 million for someone like Dak is absolutely ridiculous and I don't understand. Good guy, but he doesn't push the needle. Even if dak is the answer, he's NEVER winning anything with jerry.

Sign a QB in draft. Trade dak to NE for picks. Or at least dont pay him 40 million. 28 million TOPS

Unfortunately for you, me and the every team in the NFL, salaries for QB's go up EVERY year, they don't go downward. Next thing you showed how little you really know about this because the patriots are WELL known not to pay big contracts or trade for players with big contracts and either Prescott is signed to a long term contract that WILL BE more than 28 mil a year or he will be on the tag again which means it will be 37 mil. Then lets say the Cowboys does you fantasy idea and drafts a QB but 3 or 4 years later they find out that he isn't even as good as Prescott and I'll bet anything you would be one of the first to say why did the Cowboys get rid of Prescott or you'll say it's time to draft another QB.

You are going to have to give Dak at least a 4yr 160 million to match Watsons contract. It was only going to get more expensive the longer he went unsigned. I would love for him to sign a 7yr 300 million to give us some flexibility with the cap.
Could structure it like this:
Year 1 - $20 million
Year 2 - $25 million
Year 3 - $30 million
Year 4 - $35 million
Year 5 - $45 million
Year 6 - $45 million
Year 7 - $50 million
Signing bonus - $50 million signing bonus - guaranteed money could be in the first 3 yrs around $120

I know it’s a lot but this gives us some flexibility the next couple of years.
