if i was dak's agent, i would play extreme hardball during the next round of contract negotiations. this is probably on jerry's mind as he waits for this disaster of a season to come to an end. after yesterdays loss, there is no reason to think we still have a chance at winning the division. another barn cleaning is needed. jerry might also be considering his choice of maccarthy as hc. the fake punt call yesterday was right out of a high school playbook. comparing rivera to maccarthy and we're not looking so good. smashed watermelons or not. major barn cleaning is needed.

Money is all Jerry cares about. End of story. We have had 25 years of losing football and Jerry is extremely happy. Until he sells the team we are farked.

Jerry's greatest fear is happening right now.

Everybody on the sports talk shows are
LAUGHING THEIR BUTS OFF AT THIS FRANCHISE.
Its like pre Parcells all over again.
He has to make a move.

The move Jerry needs to make is the one he'll never make. Anything else is just rearranging the deck chairs.

winning is just a small slice of the pie chart in his powerpoint presentation. Jerry has the luxury of owning the cowboys, who, even if they stink, still command top draw (media, fans, money, etc). How much Miller Lite being sold in the stadium is of more concern than actually winning.

Jerry's Bottom Line is good. There are no Nightmares.

I have to disagree. He could increase the value of the Cowboys immensely with more Super Bowls. That he refuses to fire himself as GM and let the team be run right and disciplined so he can be seen to do it his way and be seen as a football guy -is- costing him potential revenue.

So he's willing to sacrifice some profits so he can play at being a football guy and it burns him that he just doesn't get it.

Jerry's worst nightmare is running out of Johnny Blue.
"Now that's funny right there. If you don't think that's funny then you need to get outta here cause that's funny!!" [said to the audience] -- Larry the Cable Guy :lmao:

I believe Jerry's worst fear is that NFL, not just the Cowboys, fans don't return next year or the following years. NFL attendance is the big worry.
Yes, fans will stream for free but will they continue to pay big money for something that is free and actually just as good at home, or maybe even better.

I see it differently. Since we will be picking so high, I expect them to tell Dak, we are going to draft a qb and just release you.... unless you take far less than you were wanting. Say 30mm a year. Dak will have to weigh if he really wants to be a cowboy and take a pay cut and continue to make another 15mm a year in endorsements and live in a state with no income tax. Or walk away and sign with Denver or Washington and watch those endorsement dollars dry up immediately.

I think Jerry's worst nightmare is soiling his depends in the middle of a press conference.

Jerry's worst nightmare would be ....me taking over as GM....and actually leading this team to a Super Bowl.

You guys have it all wrong.

When the Cowboys are winning, they are talking about the Dallas Cowboys.

When the Cowboys are losing, they are taking about the Dallas Cowboys.

Jerry finds no distinction between the two types of media coverage.

Jerry Jones is a hyper narcissist, it’s almost impossible in his position in life to not be one. He sees himself as a successful NFL owner, and a successful NFL GM despite the last 25 years of failures. He sees how financially successful the Cowboys still are and he see how successful they are ratings wise.

Make no mistake, Jerry Jones is completely comfortable with the situation and any nightmare situation is the furthest from his mind.

Jerry's worst nightmare is not to be seen as a football guy. He's got just about everything a man could want in life. The one thing alluding him that his wallet can't fix is respect as a GM. He can only buy the opportunity, which is what we've seen here for a quarter century.

So if you want to take any solace in this situation know that he will go to his grave one day without that one thing he so desperately covets. In his maniacal desire to show the world and get the credit he's only thoroughly embarrassed himself and permanently destroyed his reputation.

He will die a laughing stock as a football guy and that is his worst nightmare.

It's not to late to hire a real GM or sell the franchise Jerry... you psychopath

I have wondered about this also. Of course to pretend to know what Jerry is thinking would be similar to attempting to plug a black hole in space.

The only two things I would disagree with:

  1. Jerry Jones is 100% comfortable. Narcissists pretend they are comfortable and look content on the outside but they experience anxiety like anyone else--sometimes moreso.
  2. Where Jones is now in life is not a determinant of his narcissism. Narcissism is a lifelong state of mind. Jones was one when he bought the franchise. The only difference between then and now is his level of personal wealth.

The one thing that really struck me yesterday is that Jerry sells hope. That's his secret. He exchanges hope for his fans' interest and cold hard cash. Its a great exchange. All he has to do is have a press conference or interview and hype the teams' chances and people will hear it. Then when the next fluke win happens the fanbase will think "maybe Jerry was right. Maybe if X and Y happen, this team will contend."

Jerry's biggest fear, as such, is the fanbase completely losing hope. I'm there but I think a lot of others are not.
This. Except smart fans know there is no hope with the Jones family making football decisions. Divisional round of the playoffs is where the season ends best case.
