Re: 2007 team, everyone remembers Patrick Crayton dropping a pass that would have been a touchdown. I remember very bitterly, even to today, Bill Parcells's boy, Anthony Fasano, dropping an easy pass in the endzone, in the 3rd quarter, costing the team 4 points, which would allowed the team down the wire, when it got to the Giants' 22 with 30 seconds left, to kick a game winning FG. The Boys outplayed the Giants and were a better team. Marion Barber destroyed the great Giant defense, 27 carries for 129 yards, but the Fasano and Crayton plays show how playmakers rise to the occasion and others shrink in the big moments.

I feel sorry for you. It was a GREAT, Dominating time. Almost had 4 SB in a row.

I am content with having that as a great sports time in my life.

Cowboys won 3 SBs
Yankees won 4 WS in 5 years.

Cowboys are at 25 years with nothing.
Embarrassing playoff appearances.

It’s going to be like this ( clown show operations) for a long time.

JETS just passed 50 years... we prob give that a run.

At end of day. I’m ok with nostalgia of 90s. Not many can have a legit run like that.
The 90s were great. Between 1991-96, we were the best team in football. 4 straight NFC championship games, winning 3 and 3 SBs and 12 total playoff games.

But the run this team had from 1966-82 was even more dominant. In those 17 seasons, the Cowboys played in 12 conference championships, 5 SBs, winning 2 SBs, and a won whopping 20 playoff games.

You're a Cowboys AND Yankees fan? That's okay, I'm sure your Lakers and Alabama football team will win big this year for you.

Kidding, of course.

Never really watched basketball. Admittedly, Jordan got me in to basketball. When he left. So did I. Lol
Don’t care for college football/basketball or hockey.

People forget that all the time. It's "Romo this" and "Dak that", meanwhile we all cringe whenever the defense takes the field.

Every Cowboys SB champion had a top-10 defense. That wasn't coincidence.

I hear ya... but ... you can’t just sum it up that way.

Aikman was a proven winner. I felt like we would win.

I always felt like something opposite was going to happen with Romo.
With Dak it’s not as bad but I’m getting there too.

Jerry can't live forever.

Stephen Jones is a hard-arse type with expectations of coaches & players. He kicked Dez and Garrett out the door.

McCarty won't get the Garrett treatment. He'll get 2 years if he does not win in 2021.
Prob is... we will have wasted TWO MORE YEARS... it was never a good hire.

Agreed. They hooked me.

Growing up in Commander territory was interesting. All of my family members, & most of my friends were Skins fans. I only got to see Staubach play live once. Although, I saw a Landry coached team several times. The biggest game I ever went to was:

enhance

What a different era of football that was. So glad I got to witness it, & so many of the legends. The younger fans of today, don't know what they missed.
Thanks for sharing, you are brave and probably felt those stands shaking as the game went on.....we just couldn't get over the Championship game hump, that was the last of the 3 in a row.

Championships are one thing, but my problem is we havent come CLOSE.

When they weren't busy choking away one seeds, they were embarrassed in several divisional round games.

The closest they have come to a title game APPEARANCE was the Dez game in GB, and I'm not one of those that thinks we win with that call.
I counter the 2016 divisional round loss to the Packers was the closest (3 points versus 5, with them winning the game on a 51-yard FG as time expired).

Thankfully, I lived through the 70’s and 90’s dynasties. Sadly, I don’t expect to see another.

Yep. That along with the 2007 game. I'd be nitpicking if I tried to say one was closer than the other.
I'd previously stated the 2016 divisional round v. the Packers was closer to a win.
But in that game GB broke the tie with a FG as time ran out, while against the Giants the Cowboys were driving for the go-ahead TD...so I'll switch to the 2007 postseason.

I liken it to Spurs vs Warriors.

The 1960s-1980s Cowboys were the Spurs. They were consistently successfully year in and year out (had 20 consecutive winning seasons, just like the Spurs had 22 consecutive playoff appearances.) But they produced relatively few championships - only two Super Bowl titles, despite the long streak of excellence.

The 1990s Cowboys were like the recent Warriors. They had an extremely intense, short-lived, period of manic success - three championships in four years. But then they fell off the cliff quickly. (Although that comparison may not be apt since the Warriors still have a chance to rebound to their championship form next year.)

I don't care about rings, just have meaningful games and contend enough and I am fine.

About that Dez game in GB. The ones that whine about that seldom bring up the time left on the clock, the failure of the D to stop them all game and they couldn't stop them on their last possession and they were just running out clock.

Some feel better with excuses for losing. The fact is over the last 25 years, the Cowboys have not had 5 contending teams.
1996-2019: 10 postseasons- '96, '98, '99, '03, '06, '07, '09, '14, '16, '18
Wildcard round record: 4-4
Division round record: 0-6; lost by 9, 4, 31, 5, 3 & 8 points
Overall playoff record for that span: 4 wins, 10 losses.

I became a fan in 94' when I was 9. After 2 superbowls, first game I really got emotional about was our loss to the 49ers in the NFCCG that year. Only Super Bowl since I've been a fan was SB XXX. Then the Irvin/McIver stuff and the Panthers loss in 96...I dont see much help as long as the Jonse's own the team.

I wonder why some became fans of this team over the last 20 years, they're exactly like Browns and Lions fans and they deserve admiration.

I have the 70's and 90's and a hell of a lot of players to stoke my fanhood and keep me attached but what do they have? Pathetic playoff appearances and a clown show off the field.
All I have is Dez Bryant dropping the catch and Romo botching the snap. I am slowly going insane.

The first time we scored, I jumped up hootin, & hollerin..... I heard a loud voice from behind me with lots of bass in it, "Sit down & shut up kid..!!" :D I was with my Mother who, leaned into me with her teeth gritted (Her don't F with me tone) & said, "If you do that again, we're leaving" LOL

It was a great experience overall though. I was blown away leaving the stadium. I couldn't believe all the people jumping on cars, climbing street lights, etc.. I'd never seen anything like that before. The Metro ride out of there was kinda sketchy too. I was still wearing my Cowboys hat. Probably the ugliest one they ever made. Looked like their helmets, kinda. As we sat on the subway, a lady knocked on the window, just to give me the thumbs down, & laugh in my face. Did I mention I was 12 at the time..?
