Made Tony Romo the richest QB in NFL history and never ONCE asked Tony to carry the team.

And Dak isn't even asking to be the richest QB in NFL history...he just wants for the Jones to stop trying unreasonable add more years of control to his contract while not adequately compensating for those extra years of control.

And how did that work out? We never won anything, making that decision around Tony. We were always hurt late, no depth and no Championships. We couldn't even protect Romo and in the end, he retired earlier then he should have and we ended up paying salary out to a franchise QB who was no longer a part of this franchise.

At some point, you gotta learn from the mistakes and correct them. We can't repeat that again with Dak IMO.

You judge QB's based on their ability to keep your team competitive and the only way your team gets to that next level is by being able to beat the 10 win teams on a consistent basis.

I said I would agree but you have to set a median..are we saying the elite QB's do this every year or will you find over 6 years there are only 2 QB's who have done this...Again I will gladley judge a QB how you want but I need to know are we just saying if its not Brady we don't want him or is there a clear diference of 10 QB's to the rest. Here's why i ask, if its just Brady then I'm going to say it has alot to do with his teams and Coach..if it's 6 other QB's doing it also well then clearly there is a good meter to judge elite by...I'm betting there are 2 that have done this yearly and they both have been on the 2 best run franchises in the league.....

No, you really don't need to set a median. In fact it is fairly obvious when you are dealing with the real thing and when you are not. Now not everyone is a Brady or a Mahomes but to pay a person who is clearly not that guy and is clearly not going to get you where you need to go unless you surround him with insane talent, to pay someone like an elite QB who is clearly not in the same category of elite is insane. It's like paying a boat load of money for a RB in the modern day NFL. Take the money - invest in your offensive and defensive lines, offer Dak what a middle of the road QB is worth and if he wants to leave he is welcome to leave.

The Cowboys wasnt exactly stellar when he was playing either. This team is just bad right now.
Yeah but at least we were scoring points. No they weren’t garbage time either. Because there’s no such thing. Games are won in the fourth quarter

Clearly.....sorry, thought you had a metric that could show some real trends.........anything other than this losing team can't beat winning teams with this insane talent that still is not performing without him, you can show me that shows he is CLEARLY not the guy?

LOL, the metric that this team cannot beat a winning team isn't a metric you want to acknowledge because of some weird loyalty you seem to have for an average QB. Every year your schedule is going to involve teams that are league leaders - the Rams, Chiefs, Steelers etc. In order to be a good team the expectation is to beat those teams or at the very least be competitive. Now we can claim injuries and crap but injuries happen to every team and yet the Cowboys are the only ones where a single injury or a few guys hurt leads to the bottom falling out and somehow that is expected by this team. Basically what that tells us is that this is a soft team and if that is the identity that you are going for great - but a soft team is only going to win and get into the playoffs when you either have really good talent in most spots or you absolutely have a lucky break and every single opponent you play in a year is badly injured. The second scenario has a low probability, you are better off trying to stack your roster even if it is for one year and one run and the only way you do that is by not taking an average QB and paying him like he is Aaron Rodger or Patrick Mahomes.

The NFL is all about the QB. And once Dak went down we have been terrible at the most important position. They are 1-5 as a group, and all but two of those games have been blowout losses including two beatdowns by lowly Washington.

Next year Dak will hopefully be back and at least we can be competitive in every game and hopefully win half of them.

That’s about all we can hope for, since this is a bad team with bad coaching.

To be fair, I'm not sure how many more wins we would have had with Prescott. The injuries this year have been devastating.

No its not loyalty for a player....I have watched this team far longer than Dak has been alive....If Dak is the problem with this TEAM, show me, those winning teams you mentioned managed to sign thier franchise QB and build a team...this FO has not been able to do that in the cap era. Romo was not the problem with this team either it was still the front office. Think about it we have had not 1 but 2 Franchise QB's land in our laps and we waste it because we don't want to build defenses, this has nothing to do with the QB. You can keep telling yourself that Dak isn't the best player on the team but it says otherwise when the offensive production drops by nearly 30 points per game without him...Again an opinion is just that but just because you dont think he is good doesn't mean that is a truth. Nor is the "if you pay your QB you can't win" you want a shiny new QB in the draft, thats fine just be prepared to want him run out of town in 4 years when he has not won but wants to be paid for being a startting QB in this league...the GM needs to change the way he builds a team before any QB will be successful here,

Name me all the WR, RB, and LB's those frnachises gave second contracts to before paying thier QB's?

You don't pay a guy, based on information showing he is CLEARLY not the guy. You pay, based on info showing he clearly is. But I agree, the info showing that he clearly is would help justify a lot of things.

You pay a guy based on his play....so again his play has either been bad or good...I say it's been good his stats show it has been good, so what would say its been bad? And when you're comparing position based pay I'm guessing the only thing you can compare it to is other players at that position, so what does Dak's play look like compared to other QB's?

He looks like a QB in the 8-15 range.

If Dak is the problem with this TEAM

Dak isn't a problem for this team yet - perhaps excluding this year where they put the franchise tag on him and crippled any chance of being competitive in free agency, but will be at $40 million a year for 4 years with a balloon payment at the end of it. This team already has a ton of holes on defense and offensive line and paying an average QB like he is an elite talent isn't going to help this. Not when that same QB needs top tier WR's and linemen to make him slightly above average.

Look...I;m no Dak hater. I've made my support well known even when I have constructive criticism. Well I will call it "constructive" since I am no football expert whatsoever. I just call them like I see them as played out. Like when I defend zeke 4 years ago? And no longer do (ardently) . I support this team and the players....I will back down a little bit when they aren;t performing to their abilities. Zeke hasn;t...Dak has....maybe exceedingly!

Sorry for that disclaimer....it's true. But there are entities about who make up lies...so I reinforce the truth.

With that being said....if we are truly a "bad team" with ":bad coaching" YOUR OWN WORDS...along with some terrible injuries to replacements for the replacements....how is Dak supposed to make such a difference?

DO you believe he is truly so great he can overcome "bad coaching" and a "bad team"...and multiple injuries across the o-line?

I don't see how anyone can given those circumstances. Just gonna get him hurt again.

With due respect, I'm listening.

Yes, at least to a degree.

Clearly Dak has been carrying this team for a long time. It’s pretty obvious if you compare how bad we are without him. You can also look at how Dak turned around a 4-12 team to 13-3 on his way to winning Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2016.

This season Dak was shattering all-time NFL passing records despite playing behind a makeshift offensive line with a weak running game. Dak also gets no help from the defense, special teams, or coaching, unlike most every other QB in the league.

I think his 2-3 record this year is pretty good given all that, certainly better than the 1-5 record of the backup QB’s. And his 3 losses were all competitive games where we had a chance to win and would have if he was given a little support.

We probably would have been 8-8 if Dak had finished the season, which would be good enough to win the division and get a home playoff game.

Okay...if you think this is the same team as it was the first few games....then we might as well not carry on further about it.

I just cannot get behind your (and American Cowboy) "ALL THINGS ARE EQUAL": It's just made up imagination with zero regard to our current state of affairs. Things don't work that way....just an easy out.

This team was SO great...we got Dak injured trying to escape a *** pocket. (Which also got Andy clobbered). It's even worse now but we'd somehow still be way better with Dak? Sorry...don't get it.

It seems to me people are somehow, some reason...twisting this into Dak hate. It's not....it's more a narrative of how I feel about the team right now...not 6 -8 weeks ago.

I was impressed with Dak:

-shattering the all-time NFL passing record thru the 1st five games.

-becoming the only player in NFL history to have 3 straight games with at least 450 yards passing.

-becoming the only player in NFL history to have a game with 3 rushing TDs and 400 yards psssing.

And his 2-3 record this season does impress me considering his weak supporting cast and poor coaching.

Correct.
Weak supporting cast? His offensive weapons are weak?

The receivers are good.

The OL has been bad all year largely due to injures and Fred retiring.

Jarwin was lost for the year on opening day.

Zeke is averaging less than 4 yards per carry and has more fumbles than touchdowns.

That’s weak in my book.

Was listening to Sturm today. In 11 games we are on our 15th Oline combination this season. That doesn’t help any QB

lmao, stats prescott won one game, one on a fluke onside kick with a better team, and somehow now the legend would be winning these games now with a worse more injured team. the delusional stats prescott fans. smh. the legend continues to grow.
