Mitch Trubisky, Sam Darnold, Marcus Mariota, Paxton Lynch, Josh Rosen, Jameis Winston, Blake Bortles, and Dwayne Haskins come to mind.

There are a lot of QBs drafted high because they are QBs so of course there will be some busts..

Trevor Lawrence is being drafted high because he is great at football as well as an amazing prospect.

He checks every box.

SRV brother.
One of the best of the best. I remember making his brother sandwiches when I was a teenager in Austin. Showed off his hot rod collection to me.
Worked for a company called Texas French Bread.

I miss that place.

how many of those bust quarterbacks started on a team with a top 5 offensive line? and a good running back just wondering

Mariota had Derrick Henry; Bortles was on a Jacksonville team that made the playoffs; Winston was a turnover machine in the same Tampa Bay offense that Tom Brady is slaying it in; and Trubisky can't get it done despite support from a defense that has been top ten since he's been in Chicago.

My rhythm guitar player is down in Austin right now, actually in Buda visiting.

I remember when Buda had just one DQ and all the kids would go hang out there because the rest of the town was forest and antique stores.
Now I hear it's a booming place with all sorts of stuff.

Dalton and Gilbert would love to have played behind the offensive line stats prescott had.
Remember the Atlanta game where shakey got sacked and went into shell shock for the rest of that season and half of the next.
lmao and how did super stats do at the first of this year, oh yeah won on a lucky onside kick with a better team.
the legend grows.

I am a Dak fan (sorry Risen) and believe the team will ultimately sign him. BUT, if you are picking in the Top-5 or 10 of the draft, you better evaluate the available QBs......just in case. If you legitimately believe you can get better at the position then pull the trigger. After all, there is only so much cap space to go around.
This so true. You can spend the money you safe as it cost paying Lawrence3 for 4 years what it will cost to pay Dak 1 year. I really don't think the Jets would give up the pick though.

There's no bigger hole to fill than adding a potential generational franchise QB
That being said. Lawrence has a zero chance of being a Cowboy.

Lawrence may end up being a fine NFL QB.

Or he may be the next Carson Wentz.

That remains to be determined.

But we don’t have a hole at QB if we resign Dak. We have holes all across the OL and defense which need to be addressed.

All these Trevor haters seem to have something in common. Love for the Dakster and short sightedness. Getting Trevor, which is a high reward possibility, on this team during a rebuilding period...and yes it is rebuilding, especially this defense...is the thing to do rather than pour in 40mil per for a QB who needs All Pros in every position and still can't get it done. Wind up with .500 record the next four or five years. We need to pour that money into the defense with the rest of the picks, except getting at least two more OL.. Dallas has more picks this year too in the first three or four rounds. Get 'er done....... :flagwave:

We have a QB that needs everything to be optimal which could take years to build and set us up for maybe a 1 year window to win a title.

Too many other teams have young QBs playing for cheap.

Dallas should be in a full on rebuild. The Oline is aging quick, th RB has lost his explosion, the QB costs a lot and just snapped his ankle and he needs every bit of mobility he has because he is nothing special as a passer.

Defense is in shambles.

Trevor Lawrence opens a lot of doors.

Dak? Maybe if everything is perfect we do something.

You let him sniff 40 million a year then forget about it for awhile or unless the cap shoots way up but as of now it looks like the cap is going down.

If we throw all our eggs into the new QB basket and not the O line and D line expect David Carr 2.0
we do not need OL

we lost like both our starters and backups..we are playing with our 3rd OL our starrers will be back and in spot duty we now have great depth..we have done OL to death..sorry but it appears that need and it is NOT..we have drafted Biadsz and Mcgovern recently and now have knight and steele as quality backups with Erving..and outside of TS rally we are set..TS retires soon LC kicks out we get are set, very easy, haivng PB HOF starters at all 5 positions is pipe dream..nope..

defenders yes many..however it could be done with dak and 4th for Lawerence and daks 40mil we dont have to pay go to FA Defenders and also draft defenders round 2-4 etc 4-7 is for other holes..not out of the realm of relaity..

not saying do it but really its not crazy you simply shift from paying dak and replace him with Trevor and use his money for defense..

Things were less than optimal for Dak this season, yet he still shattered the all-time NFL passing record thru the first 5 games.

The offense was putting up well over 30 points per game with Dak, and those points were hard earned since our weak defense and special teams almost never gave the offense a short field.

We were a watermelon kick from 0-4.

Those are garbage stats.. Even Jerry could figure that one out.

He had more attempts than Wilson did after Wilson played 2 more games and he attempted a ton of passes against some of the worst pass defenses in the league that also had a huge lead.

Fools gold stats.. We’ve seen that Dak is the type of QB that if you score 14 he will score 13. We’ve seen that he feasts on the weak and disappears against the not so weak.

Dak delivered a clutch pass to Gallup in the opener that should have beat the Rams; but a questionable offensive PI erased it.

Dak brought Dallas back from 30-15 down at Seattle (lost 38-31) and 41-14 down vs. Cleveland (lost 49-38) and lost because the defense couldn't even make one stop. Dallas should have been 5-1 when Dak played; not 2-3.

And if Prescott was healthy Dallas would have beaten the Eagles, Steelers, and Washington. A 5-6 or 6-5 record right now wouldn't be ideal; but they'd have a stranglehold on this awful division.

If we were smart...

If we are smart we won't give any of @CATCH17 threads about Dak any credibility...

Let's take a trip down memory lane May 4th 2020 @CATCH17 magnificent Eye Test at work!!!
I don’t think signing Dalton was just about Dallas signing a good backup QB..

They did this to gain leverage in negotiations and if things go south they can go to Dalton.

Signing Dalton is not really a Dallas Cowboy type of move and it sounded like Jerry was done with that after Kyle Orton.

Something is up.

What did I say that supposedly destroyed my credibility?

BTW, credibility standards on the internet ridiculous.. Literally anyone is wrong 1 time and we dismiss everything they’ve ever said ever.

I’m right.. A lot!
