Absolutely not :lmao2:

Smith and Martin aren’t going to start more than 8 games combined next year. This is exactly why I flipped to sign Dak ASAP so Dallas can trade back and pick up as many draft picks as possible for the Oline and Dline

I get that the article is an extreme optimistic view, but in what reality is it worse? You literally have to have Tyron and Lael Collins both not come back at even 80% of what they were in 2019. Zach Martin would have to regress significantly, none of the young guys would develop, and the team would add no depth to the unit. For it to get worse that it already is.....thats just....wow....really...really bad.

Tyron is hurt and can’t be depended on, Collins doesn’t want to play football it seems....those two alone are very substantial impacts, couple that with the inevitable injures that this team has in preseason and we’re right back to a struggling oline

I wish it would work out and they would be healthy and in good shape but chances are they likely aren’t any better

So because Collins had surgery he doesnt want to play football?

You cant just write off both players before we even get to the season. If even one plays all 16 games next year you have an improved unit.

no bc he came in very overweight and out of shape he doesn’t want to play football....

and I’m not writing anyone off I’m just playing the odds based on historicals....I hope they both are healthy and in good shape for next year but chances are it will not work out that way

Goodness we have lots of holes. The offensive lines best players have been injury prone the last two seasons and they are both over 30. We need defensive tackles, a new secondary, linebackers, etc. Except for Wide Receivers we should just pick the best player on the board. We have a bad team folks that might need two more good drafts.

Nice cheerful article...

...except for one thing...

...Tyron Smith seems to be getting injured every year lately. Does anyone believe he will remain healthy all of next season? I don't. So, back to having Knight or Erving back at Left Tackle? How has that worked out this season?

PFF's position rankings after Week 12:
Tackle:
Tyron Smith- 67.8 not enough snaps to rank
Steele- 49.7 (76th out of 78)
B. Knight- 58.3 (66th)
C. Erving- 58.0 (68th)
Martin will move to LT when smith is gone. Biadasz will be at center and McGovern guard. The only real question for me is the other guard. Williams doesn’t cut it for me.

They'll be top 10 and that's more than enough in the nfl.

More like middle of the pack at this point, but defense has been the problem in Dallas for years while people obsess over the offense.

If we draft Sewell......

Yep. Sewell is the key.

He answers a lot of problems, current, future and possible.

Current, he replaces Williams instantly and is a Martin level upgrade.

Possible...we know Smith and Collins can get hurt. Sewell is the man that can instantly shift to those points, allowing the Boys to keep Martin at guard and he can be starting level vs, journeymen like Knight or scrubs like Steele.

Future...Smith isn't aging backwards. He's got a bad back, he's been out a lot. That spot is going to get open in maybe one year, best case three or four. Sewell is the man that fills it one way or the other.

He's the pick. If he's off the board, trade out. Crappy draft for the top 10 unless you want a QB or Sewell.

What a BS story............. Give me a break, the WFT kicked our *** on Thanksgiving. We couldn't run block for Zek or pass block for THE RED WEENIE. I don't know where or how these ratings are being put together but from what I've witnessed the players mentioned in this story are a long way from being an "Elite Line". As a matter of fact whoever put this story together should probably have their head ran through an MRI machine to see if they got a fricking brain. The only way this team bounces back next year is if we get our Pro Bowlers all healthy and ready to rock n roll from the beginning of the season to the end of the season, nothing else matters at this point.

I guess we need to start the hype really early so that people will want to watch the horrible team.

I'm fine with Knight as a plug in. Young guy who should only develop.

With McGovern playing well, Williams should really be cross trained at T, finally, and I bet he's better than Knight. He's a more natural T than G, and he's playing G well now. I think we'll be fine at T.

I totally agree. We need a realistic approach to talent evaluation. We overvalue our players. When the Jets mentioned Tyron in a trade for Adams last season, the board went ballistic. In reality, Tyron has been on the downward slope for years. Does anyone expect him to have a miraculous rebound next season and play all 16 games at a high level?
