Who? Why? WT@? Rashawn Slater is just under 6-5 at 6-4. Could be a OG maybe OT in the NFL.. Why do I consider him that high at # 4 if Sewell is gone and we don't trade down? Just saw video of him shut down Chase Young. Slater has good feet and good strength. Could be a dark horse if we don't trade down. Tyron Smith's back is not going to get any better,so time to search for the blindside protector. Also the negative detractors about his size, tell me what size Lael Collins is? Slater is #70 in video

I always know it's a solid take when the OP lashes out at "detractors" before anyone even replies.

This kid has talent but picking him at #4 would be Jerry's dumbest decision ever. Let that sink in.

Dont underestimate Jerry. We are talking Quincy Carter, Bobby Carpenter, Shane Carver,etc.......Maybe OP is getting PTSD everytime I try to find a candidate at #4 and everyone constantly shoots it down because it's not a cornerback ,but this draft has about a good solid 15 defensivebacks in the draft to choose. All I think of is Morris Claiborne at #5 years ago did not pan out.

The peanut gallery with Penei Sewell gone...I have tried

Aidan Hutchinson- NO

Greg Rousseau- NO

Kyle Pitts - NO

Rashawn Slater- NO

Timb2-OK Peanut Gallery , WHO DO YOU WANT?

PEANUT GALLERY'S ANSWER- We want mumble mumble.

Timb2- Who's that?

PEANUT GALLERY- You know mumble mumble

YOU WONDER I'M GETTING PTSD?

Micah Parsons? Does that make any sense when we just drafted high Vander,Esch & Smith and we really majority play 2 LB sets.

Jamar Chase? We just drafted CeedDee Lamb, have Amari Cooper,Gallup and talented guys like Cedrick Wilson can barely get on the field.

#4 - Safety is too high unless that is the next Ronnie Lott. Same thing for Corner if it's not Deion Sanders clone.....None of the Corners is near the top level.

Zach Wilson over Dak? , not a chance.

SO please just tell me who is this mysterious mumble mumble guy because I do a mock and I get " After I saw that player mocked to the Cowboys I stopped reading your mock". Ok who then should we take Mr. Peanut?...MUMBLE MUMBLE.

I really wouldn't be surprised if Slater rises and this thought isn't that preposterous in April.

Already, we've seen Daniel Jeremiah rank Slater higher than Sewell. Meaning Slater will likely have his fans. And in a top 10 incredibly weak for defense, makes sense he will be a high pick.

He will likely be a top 10 guy but it would have to be in a trade back for me.
all that the year we pick high its a very average draft at tge elite end...

Word out there is he doesn't possess the necessary length for the Tackle position and may be considered a Guard only prospect.

Dude is a monster. I know DJ and Brugler are very high in him.
There’s a questions on OT/OG I’ve heard but he’s a 1st round talent.

Like a lot of the other OTs, I like him later in the first than top 10.

Parson would mean you don’t have to extend LVE or you could move on from jaylon and after first hit save mucho money

Sadly this team needs far more than one great player, even if he's drafted and turns into another Tyron Smith, there has to be several other players at his level to help this team...

You mean more wasted draft picks . We constantly burned 2nd round picks just to watch these guys go play for someone else. Randall Godrey,Kevin Burnett,Bruce Carter, Darrin Smith,Dixon Edwards.....I'm tired of us doing that...Its such a waste. I'm sick of us funding scrub teams like Tampa Bay with our players. ..But some reason we do opposite for the O- line we rather hold on to an aging veteran than the young o- lineman Ron Stone, Jeremy Parnell....TEs I blame the Jason Witten BFF experience. MARTELLUS Bennett,Rico Gathers ( I thought he had talent)....Stupid waste Taco Charlton and keep Mr. injured Reserve Tyrone Crawford...

So you want to give every pick a second contract?
That’s not feasible and LVE injury history worries me as well as jaylon is very expensive for the production
You keep elite players and replace the others with the draft. That’s the key to managing the cap
It’s not a waste to not give a guy a second contract. A waste is giving a guy a huge second contract when you can get equal production out of a guy on a rookie deal

It's like beating your head againist the wall. Kevin Burnett was replaced by Bruce Carter both 2nd round picks. Now if these were 5th round picks I wouldnt complain. 2nds need to stay on our roster their whole career.

I don’t think that’s the case for any pick
Once they are on the team where you picked them is not important
Are they an elite player you don’t have the resources to replace, is the question
If you extended every first and second round pick you’d be unable to keep any other players
To me you only extend elite players that you can’t replace
I can think of plenty of first and second round picks that shouldn’t have been extended and later round picks who should have
The round you picked a player should have no bearing on giving them a second contract

For the most part your drafts have been excellent. I believe you have hit on some of the selections and players like Rousseau and Pitts have a good chance to become Cowboys in certain scenarios.

Timb2, how do you do your research? I remember a few weeks ago you had the Cowboys drafting a Missouri pass rusher. I looked him up and he seems to be one of those guys the draftnicks know nothing about but the pro scouts will be all over him. Good call man.

Thanks for the compliment. I go to several draft websites. I look at NCAA stats leaders sometimes. I kind of know what to look for. A defensive end that is 6-5 and above gets my attention. I look for QBs 6-3 above but also have arm strength. It's like 2 pitchers one throws 55mph vs the other throws 95 mph. I look if QB's throws are lasers or are rainbows. You want lasers. Looking for fast WRs but also big 6-3,220 also if they can run. Love looking at small school gems. ...Its a hobby but people asked I should try my own website....I do go crazy on my mock drafts at times. Sometimes hits and sometimes misses....Combine and Pro Days really seperate the real players from the pretenders... Most QB's I also try to find interviews of them. You can tell personality if they are a leader, mature enough. I kind of look for a,QB that's like either a NASA Astronaut or A Top Gun Fighter pilot....Tom Brady couldn't you see him in TOP GUN? Peyton Manning in a Astronaut outfit. Lol!! SILLY you can tell. Like Johnny Manziel or Jameis Winston I saw those train wrecks a mile away. .....Linebackers I look in a different personality direction. I want that guy who hates everyone. He wants to inflict pain has a chip on his shoulder.. not a happy guy.....The one thing I want on all the players are guys who hate to lose, they can't stand to lose. Hyper competitive want to win in tiddly winks.

There are going to be varying reports about Slater. Some may view him as a Guard only prospect due to lack of length and stiff hips, where some believe he could be a quality LT for several productive years. For the Cowboy perspective, they must view him as a future starting Tackle to even consider him. In the past, college Tackles who had lack of length have been moved inside for the Cowboy system, (Martin/Connor), which suggest they aren't going to be interested taking Slater within the top 5.
