What gives you hope?

After the last 25 years, it is clear- Jerry Jones and his front office don’t know how to build a winner. Period. It’s not even something that’s arguable. They don’t know what they are doing. The results speak for themselves. Some clear evidence:
  • Jerry’s teams in the 21st century have made the playoffs 7 times in the last 21 seasons.
  • After the great draft haul of 2016, this team hasn’t made the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years.
  • In the last 25 seasons including this one since we won a divisional playoff game, we have had 6 head coaches, 7 different OCs, and 8 different DCs. And the same GM. And 4 playoff wins.
I could go on. But my question is this- where is the hope? I’m not joking or being sarcastic. Serious question. What is the hope Cowboys fans can hang on to?
  • Is our hope pinned to believing we will get healthier next year, thus greatly improve?
  • Is our hope based on the fact we will have good draft position?
  • Is hope now based in somehow believing the Jones boys have learned something?
  • Should we forget the two decades plus of evidence that Jerry literally doesn’t know what he’s doing as GM?
I’m serious when I ask what gives you as a Cowboys fan hope for the future?

The only hope I have- two things- Having good luck and being able to acquire so much talent, it can overcome the completely clueless GM. That’s it.
Jerry can't over come Jerry.
So....

I'm holding my ground, hoping that SJ's excuses aren't mutually inclusive with changing his mind about hiring a GM.

After all is said and done, it's the only hope I have left to cling to. Any hope at all for an eventual turnaround is sacred.

I hear you, Brother...but with Jerry gone I think about the fact that Stephen will be the one hiring the GM and then hope disappears...Stephen is clueless when it comes to football, like Jerry, so he will hire the wrong person and someone he is comfortable with will be his main criteria...it will more of the same until Stephen gets so old he just wants to be an owner...and I think he’s only 56 now....

Like they say, hope springs eternal. With that being the case, I'd be helplessly drowning in an undertow of torment (or something.) :omg:

I hope when Jerry leaves this world, Stephan decides to be a playboy on the yacht, drink all day and swim in the ocean, and turns the GM roll over to a competent individual. If Stephan takes the GM role, I’m hoping he losses the team on a bad gambling streak in Vegas some drunken evening.

Only when the Jones name is no longer in the GM role will this team sniff success again.

If the Jones family keeps the GM role, will need to hope the grandkids who give Jerry advice are competent. By that point I’ll be near retirement......

You have no clue.

I have every clue in spotting clueless posts.

Which is why I pointed yours out. If your post was true Garrett would be HC and our offensive starters would include Dez, Romo and DeMarco Murray.

what gives you as a Cowboys fan hope for the future?

The departure of Jones & spawn 100% from anything to do with the Cowboys

Therefore, the answer is I have no hope and am dead inside as a Cowboy fan with no place else to go because I could never root for another team but get zero joy out of the team I was married to as a kid. The only thing that gives me joy as a Cowboy fan these days is seeing jeri uncomfortable, angry, etc

RIP Cowboys

Yeah, I don't really know at the point.
Blind luck?

Buddy that’s probably as good a chance as we have. We have to hope either the Jones boys get lucky at the craps table or they get caught doing something that forces them out. That’s probably the two more realistic shots we have, lol.

The only hope is by some means the removal of the Jones family from ownership. I see no chance of that happening so every day we become a higher profile version of the Detroit Lions. Jones family = mediocrity at best.

Gee........lets see:

-Getting back: Tyron Smith, Collins, Martin, Biadasz, Jarwin, Diggs.
-Garrett and Marinelli are no longer here
-Top 5 pick in the draft in every round
-Development of Gallimore, Wilson on defense and possibly McGovern on offense
-The ability to free up 30 million in salary after next season by dumping Zeke and Jaylon Smith
-Possibility to free up another 20 million if we want to move on from Cooper
-Last years draft

In a perfect world, we would like to believe the staples of our Oline will come back with a vengeance . In reality we know they are damaged goods that are getting less reliable every year .
Garrett and Marinelli have been replaced with different problem children unable so far to overcome our culture
In spite of ourselves, we could stumble on something in the draft . OR NOT
Our young players could well develop only to be overpaid and turn into business decision makers more concerned with prolonging their careers than getting any playoff success.
Zeke and Jaylon fine examples of overpaid business decision makers that should be the teams foundation not players that need to be dumped because of our flawed culture .

Need to rebuild both lines with reliable talent Coopers money could help as we are stacked at WR

I think for us to have hope our players need to have hope . What gives our players hope ??? Certainly not the way this franchise is run . Not Jerry or Stephen or any of the puppet coaches . In todays NFL it dosent seem to take very long for players to realize that a SB ring does very little to secure their future compared to playing it safe and getting the most out of your NFL career.

A polarizing figure that is respected by all is required for players to buy in and walk through the fire for . Someone whose desire to be the best infects the team and forces them against their better judgment to sacrifice their bodys and give the effort necessary to win a championship .

Dak was not Tom Landry or Roger Staubach but he was the closest thing we had to getting the whole team to play with EFFORT!!! His injury left the team and us fans with no hope . If he decides to play elsewhere after he is healthy I wouldnt give a bucket of spit for this teams immediate future as there is no leader to give the players any hope

That’s what it boils down to.. until Jerry’s gone there is no hope!

My hope is that all the stars align and the will and talent of a team lifts the franchise over Jerry or son and brings us a Super Bowl run. Really, that's all I got. In no time soon, or at least in my lifetime, do I see this team being owned by anybody outside a Jones' family member. No matter how many threads you guys make or how much you want different owners, this is our reality. So that's all we have now is hope itself.

Been here beyond the last 25 years, so I guess it's "stupidity" that kept me around. If this was a marriage I would have divorced decades ago.

It never ceases to amaze me this childish mania for hope. It's crippling. And it's disempowering. Hope is something you sell. It's advertising.

This franchise is simply awash in lies. And we are so egregiously manipulated for profit we can't see what's right in front of our faces. Or many of us can't.

When they put a product out on the field of play that is capable of competition. Then I might pay it some attention.

That's it.
