just think when Dak is signed it's going to take years to build a team good enough to win a Superbowl.

If you hit on a rookie QB then we could be a title contender as early as 2022 because of the money saved.

Either way there's risk. Hitting on a rookie QB is by far the best case scenario. Just not likely in my opinion. If they sign Dak to a 5 year contract Dallas probably has a solid year or two window with a manageable cap hit. Might have an issue on the 3rd. Depending on how much they give him. But it's over after that.

Option 3 is the worst thing they can do. Tag him again.

Even got Marcus Spears turning on you.....I think Dak is loyal to the Cowboys but he really should look at other teams if he has other options....49ers healthy are going to look good. If Brady calls it quits...Buccaneers will look good.....
What makes you think that? Truly curious.

I think the risk is being mediocre or completely terrible and I choose completely terrible everytime.

Plus.. After Sam Bradfords rookie year it's no longer as team crushing to draft a QB and move on from them since they implemented the rookie salary based on where they are drafted.

It was out of hand and team crushing. It's not that anymore.

Add the Colts, but especially the Bucs. Not a lot talk about it but the Bucs-Brady marriage hasn't exactly been what the team expected. Yes, they are winning more but some that's in spite of Brady. They've modified the offense to where he's pretty much calling his own plays.

I love dak and would like to keep him, but if we end up with a top 3 pick I don’t think it would be the worst thing to move on from him and draft a replacement then try and fix the defense with the dollars saved and rest of the draft

I mean it’s an option, I could go either way

Many have exposed your weird science but in this we agree, if Andy Dalton wins us the 2nd overall pick we have to take the QB.

The value can not be passed on.

What was exposed?

He won't leave on his own. Dallas will have to force him out.

I think we will give him the most money on the field and definitely off of it as well and Dak seems to be all about the money by his actions.

Both the Cowboys and Dak say the right things publicly but their actions are totally different from what they say.

I think the problem with trading Dak is a team will not want to give up a 1 and also sign him to a huge contract. So Dallas may have to lower their asking price and take a 2 which is still a big W with money saved and re-opening a possible Superbowl window.
Any team that believes he's the greatest thing will have no problem dropping a 1st for him

I honestly think that would be the best thing for both Dak and the cowboys.
Dak is a good QB who can win a SB with the right team and coach, SF is just that.
Meanwhile Dallas needs to start over, rebuild and get a franchise QB, it’s not often that you get a top 3-5 pick and this year it seems there are 3 QB who will all go before pick 6.

Said two firsts due to a team offer sheeting his franchise tag.

For a 1st and a 3rd, I would want that 1st to be a high pick.
our owners allowed to concede and take whatever hes likes the 2 firsts are to aid the FO in keeping a player if team made a non exclusive offer the DC would only have to match if 2 firsts were also offered but should they truly want to get rid of him they can accept whatever they choose..

Did you catch those smiles when Scheffter made that announcement that the SNF game had been flexed? I do think there are a lot of people in the sports media sick of Booger and his act and feel this was a great shot across that awesome person's bow by the NFL.
It's baffling how he is still on. He makes Witten look like Romo.

He’ll leave on his own when we don’t sign him long term. I think it’s even less likely now that he’s damaged goods. He’ll play on the tag next season, the team will go 8-8, and we’ll say our goodbyes.
I can almost guarantee Dak will not play another down for the Dallas Cowboys without signing a long term contract. That would be stupid. He gets hurt again then Dak would be considered damaged goods.

I've said all year that I think Fields being the #2 QB was in jeopardy while many have tried to tell me he is a better NFL prospect than LAwrence lol.

I

Again. I'm a HUGE OSU fan. Longer then I've been with Dallas. Fields and Lawrence as college quarterbacks will be closer then they are at pro's. Both are athletic. Fields maybe a little more. Lawrence has the better skill set and maybe arm??? But I think both can be great eventually. And both can be a bust. A lot will depend on where they land in the draft. Lawrence as good as he maybe in college will be a worse version in NY  God help him... Put Lawrence or even Dak with Andy Reid??? Super Bowl. NFL Organizations and coaching have destroyed more great college quarterbacks then injuries or lack of talent.

Oh!! Buddy. By the time draft comes around Trevor Lawrence will be Marvel's next Black Panther.

Then Bostic, Young, Allen and Sweat will proven Lawrence is human...

Another bust/very average QB in the making. Rookie contract? Okay...fine. NO BIG RE-UP!

With such limited playing time Fields has shown he has a a LOT of ceiling. They way he handled injuries to his offense shows he can face adversity with cool calmness.

The NFL will expose Lawrence for a fraud. When he leaves his perfect NCCA system.

Agree..

Maybe we could get their #1 pick too? Zach Wilson or Fields (Dak pt.2) & a pick to fix the defense? Yes please.
Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones went on 105.3 The Fan on Wednesday and talked about where the team is with a Prescott extension, confirming that nothing has changed. Despite Wentz’s unexpected decline, they’re still all in on Dak.

“Our issues in our negotiations with Dak have been we’re wanting to be more committed in terms of the term,” Jones said via the Dallas Morning News. “We’re not nervous to sign Dak. I think his makeup is all the right things. He’s an amazing man off the field, he’s a great leader in our locker room, a great player and that’s why we’ve wanted to sign him long term. ... When you sign a player long term you’ve got more flexibility in how you work the salary cap with a player who’s gonna eat up a big percentage of your cap when you’re talking about a quarterback.”

You also insisted the Cowboys would be as good, if not better, with Dalton at QB while those of us who have actually watched him play since he left TCU knew better.

Pardon me if I don't genuflect to your self-perceived QB wisdom.

5 minutes in.. One of the reasons he is so special.. Most NFL QBs can’t make that throw. The ceiling is very very high.

Only the Jets could screw this up. It’s like the people who wanted to ignore Herberts talent in that draft. The Chargers smartly didn’t.
