Is Dak's price 30-35M/yr or is it >$40M? While Dak has earned a good pay raise, this team needs too much work to turn around and invest a quarter of their cap in one player. It really depends on the contract structure.

Dalton is absolutely no Dak, but the Ravens won a Superbowl with Dilfer and the Giants won two with Eli.
* With that being said,of which I concur*

nobody hates dak

im just not all in on him like some of you are
Absolutely dead on. That word "hate" just gets tossed around here too much I don't think Jaylon Smith is a good MLB, does that mean I hate him? Hell, they've had players I really liked, just not on the field.

It's about the money, not the player. That's not the only choice considering this team should have a shot at one of the blue chipper (cheap) QB's and take that risk.

One major error some are making in their thinking is that this brain trust can do better than Prescott at QB, since he was all luck, and that they'd use the savings to build a better defense. If the latter is the case, why haven't they done that? Why didn't they do that with Romo?

The assumptions is that it is only money, cap, that is keeping these people from building a true contender. Does anyone here really think that?

If you think they couldn't do worse than Prescott, you have selective amnesia. This franchise is one of the worst and most luck dependent ones with that position in the league.

The thinking, get a cheaper QB and have a better team, is flawed. Mistakes with other players/positions have already been made and only time will address that.

If you're looking for a guy that can hit moving paper targets in a meaningless "accuracy" contest, or throw to infants in the back yard - Dalton is your guy.

You have to understand that if you honestly prefer Dalton or Prescott you cannot be taken seriously. It shouldn't be a matter of "Like" or "Dislike" - it should be who's simply the better player.

What’s even worse, is that contest was 4 years ago. Prescott’s mechanics and accuracy have improved considerably since then. Yet somebody will throw that video out like it has any meaning whatsoever.

Anyone throwing that video out loses all credibility.

I have to disagree with this as a general statement. It wouldn't take you very long to scrub the forums here to find multiple members who legit hate Prescott.
I can agree that the terms "Hate" or Hater" may get misused from time to time, but typically it's not simply calling a member a hater who just being critical, it's aimed toward the members who "Give Prescott the Business" for very ignorant reasons other than his play.

I just don't understand why anyone would post that video and say to themselves: "Yep, I proved them wrong with this one."
It's so ridiculous.

Neither is the correct answer.

Dalton isn't good enough.

Dak is good enough but his price tag is ridiculous and hurts the team.

I'd rather be 1-15 with Nucci than 8-8 or around that with Dak and too many holes to ever be a champion.

If we finish with a top 5 pick draft Zach Wilson and let the chips fall where they may.

What price tag? He got paid nothing for 4 seasons and tagged last season.

That's a great warning sign isn't it? Or are we going to ignore the lack of playoff success on his rookie deal while other highly paid guys are at least winning or going to a Superbowl in most cases?

You do have some Deshaun Watson type cases.. Look how that is working out for their team.

Both of those teams had hard nosed, defensive minded coaches and a great defense. We have an o minded coach and one of the worst defenses in cowboys history

I would hope by now that we should have resigned ourselves to the fact we don't get our choice of QB. That decision has been made.

The question isn't either of these players but will they be able to retain Dalton as the backup or will he get interest from another team as a QB1?

The other challenge is if they're paying 35-38M to the QB1, how much do they have left for the backup?

They have quite a few decisions to make on some players on this team but the decision about QB1 has been made. That is a done deal. They want Prescott and he wants the Cowboys. Think about his endorsement value when he signs his contract.

who would you prefer as the 2021 starting QB?
Why is this even a question? Dak is clearly a far greater option than Dalton. As a backup Dalton is good to have just as Colt McCoy is clearly a good backup option, neither are starter material to get you to the playoffs.

Do you want a shot at improving the defense? Because signing Dak means just about the only improvement you'll see is through the draft and we all know how that's gone lately.
To be honest, Jerry's track record with free agency isn't all that great either.
