Honest question?

1. Old fans like us...Have been through the glory days and are still hanging on barely by a thread.

2. State/Team Fans that are ok,or tired of being beat up with the whole thing.

3. New fans that just don't get all the hoopla.

4. Ride or die fans that nothing else matters.

5. Other...what's the hook?

As I said in another thread, as a younger fan I have never seen this team in a conference championship game in my entire life. This franchise is honestly a joke, and I'll be ride or die for the rest of my life, but this is not even close to being considered a premier franchise anymore.

When the Cowboys are good the world just seems right.

I was around 10 last time we played in a Super Bowl. Great times.

1 and 4, an old school ride or die fan loyal to the star. I'd say goodbye to any player/coach in a heartbeat if I thought it would help the team. It's too bad I can't bid the current owner/GM farewell but it seems the Joneses will be here a while :( three things are certain, Death, Taxes and The Dallas Cowboys :flagwave: almost forgot, there's also bourbon  I guess that's 4

There’s no choice involved. They are my local team. It’s like your Alma Mater. For better or worse.

Fans who abandon their local or regional teams cause they suk or other teams are more attractive are basically wagon or casual fans. Which is fine for them but not a fan I’m interested in.

At this point I hope I get to see one Super Bowl win in my lifetime, or an appearance at the very least.

What bothers me is losing has become ingrained in this fan base.

We've gotten to where we accept mediocrity and cheer for certain players while acting like we still care about doing what it takes to win a championship.

I don’t know about that, if you read the boards here the fan base seems pretty pissed off with losing.

maybe ownership has accepted mediocrity but I don’t see the fan base being happy with it.

also, I think there is a big difference with comparing the prime fan base which are going to be people like you and me on this site vs those that causally follow, go to a game to be seen, or cheer when they are in the playoffs....

the prime fans will never accept mediocrity, the band wagoners may be a different story

I'm a fan that is sick and tired of the nfl product. I can't bet that today's product is considered football. I feel sorry for new fans that are growing up with this garbage product. I love my Cowboys but no longer care if I watch the games or not. I'll watch the highlights of the game isn't on locally and I'm fine with that.

What's the alternative?

We can all rail against the Joneses, as we continually do, or accept what is. The man bought my favorite team, I have two choices, go or stay. I stay but I am not as passionate as I one was, in fact, I am passionless about the Cowboys and the NFL.

that's because you truly believe there is only one way to fix it. YOUR WAY and while your way is one way its not the only way. And certainly not one the cowboys are going to entertain having so much invested at key positions. but well see. As a fan I can only hope we get the right players and coaches in the key spots and root hard on Sundays.Im not rooting for losses even though this year lately they dont sting as much.

This year is a bad year to evaluate the team. But a clear prognosis is the defense needs an overhaul.

I committed to the franchise when I was ten. Committed to my wife when I was 27. Both are marriages. I am not divorcing either of them. Plus, I have told my kids their entire lives my tombstone will read 'Cowboy Fan For Life' or I would haunt them forever.

All that said, my wife is a Denver Broncos John Elway/Peyton Manning fan. She may have other plans for the two of us (she's sneaky!)

On a serious note, I have always thought individual opinion is usually dictated by personal concepts of team and franchise. Some people identify primarily with players, coaches and the uniform. Other people, like myself, attach our fanship mainly with a franchise. Sure. Winning is easy and losing is hard but neither are determining factors for fanship to those who align their allegiance with the overall entity itself.

It is also the reason why Jerry Jones & Company never get under my skin to the degree that it does for others. Yes. Jerry Jones is the Dallas Cowboys. However, he is only the current owner slash self-appointed president slash embedded like a tick general manager. Jones is not and has never been the single soul of this franchise. The franchise is the combination of countless players, coaches, fans, failures, championships and bountiful history that began in 1960.

That is what the Dallas Cowboys means to me. That is the ground where my fandom has always stood and will continue to stand without fail.

I'm a die hard fan and have been my entire life but am absolutely done contributing to the Jones family gravy train. Used to fly to games, buy a new Jersey every year, renew my Cowboys United Fan Club membership, fly a flag out in front of my house, and even have pets named after players. None of this goes on anymore, but I still enjoy collecting memorabilia from former Cowboys that actually achieved greatness in their careers.

Nowadays, I just tune in with the expectation of being disappointed. Sunday was the first time ever I was stoked for a 1PM game because it meant I could get it over with and go on with my day.

It's true. It's accepted and that's different from Fans who remember the Landry Days and the Jimmy Johnson Days.

Really a shame too.

I would be in No.5 -Other
Been there almost from the franchise's start; was raised in Texas; still look forward to each season; the last six seasons ha've been a rollercoaster....
streaking up - then plunging down - quickly
