Your ok drafting a QB not knowing what Dak will do. Like insurance or leverage . I’m ok with that.

But if Dak signs then what. Trade the draft pick or sit a1st rounder for 4 or 5 years. Sorry , but these questions have to be considered.
You let them compete. Just like old times.

While I’d agree and probably why Jimmy is endorsing , I don’t think Jethro would want that type of drama and or Qb controversy.

If he decides to sign Dak then we are set or all in at QB for several years. At least that’s what I think he’d do not necessarily what I’d do.

And to me that’s what matters. What we think he will do.

Once again, to me it comes down to what's in Dak's mind. If he learned from his self-induced contract fiasco, then we can sign him and move on. If he hasn't, it's simply time to move on from him.

I think a deal is already in place and will get done the first day new deals can get done. They are not going to have a repeat of last off season. The coverage wouldn't be near as good for Booger this time. He's the black hat in this.

There are just too many reasons for the Joneses to get this done not the least of which is the image of a tagged QB with his foot at a 90 degree angle fearing his career might be over. Dak Prescott is by far the most popular player on the team and that matters to Booger and not just in jersey sales.

It also became an easier sell with Cowboys with and without Prescott. They might have been 1-3 but they were a hell of a lot more fun to watch than this mess.
Coach , I’m with ya. I think we will cave in and pay Dak. It’s the easiest and most popular sell for Jethro.

Last year Dak was portrayed as the bad guy for wanting too much but now despite whatever we are with Dak , without him we can’t even keep our Sunday nite games. That’s pretty much it for Jethro.

Plus letting Dak go now would prove he was wrong going with him to begin with. They are All In and will pay him top 5 money.

Thats not necessarily what I’d do but I think it’s what he does. I like Jimmy’s and Ksboys idea better but Jethro won’t do it .

I’d agree K. I don’t think Jethro will though.

No one is disputing his talent level or contributions. We are just saying it is a luxury we couldn’t afford with so many holes on defense. That’s all.
It's like the people arguing pro-Lamb are arguing against themselves. Even I, who was against the pick, can't argue that one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, we all get the attraction to the Lamb pick. But a #1 offense with one of the worse defenses isn’t taking us anywhere.

The Diggs n Galley picks were great, but we still need 1 techs and S's. Until we get those, it's quite simple, nothing else will matter all that much.

Since there's apparently not a difference maker at the 1 tech, I sure hope we look at one of the stalwarts in rounds 2-3. Maybe that Mathis kid from ALA?

Correct.

Your third WR is a starter. It's not like there was a difference-making defensive player available.

I don't understand why fans just want to use the draft to fill holes. It's an endless cycle of "let this guy go, replace him with a draft pick." If you don't use the draft to build positions of strength, you'll never get better.
Wow someone with football sense! This draft is going to be the same as in the top ten, if we are still there, there isn't a can't miss defensive player, good ones yes but there is no Myles Garrett or Chase Young or Deion Sanders or even close. If Dallas is smart, and I believe they are in drafting for the most part, then they take the best player on their board in the 1st round if they can't trade down a few spots. If it is the TE out of Florida, so be it. If it is an OT, so be it. Same for the LB from Penn St and others.

To many fans want to draft a QB high because he will be "better" than Dak. So tell me is Wentz or Goff or Watson or Mayfield or Haskins or Jones or Murray or Trubisky or Winston or Darnold or others. Sure you want a Mahomes, who doesn't yet how many QBs went before him. The point is no one knows if Lawrence or Fields are going to be great QBs. Hopefully for their sake they will be.

The draft is where you improve your team (hopefully) but there is a reason half the picks or more are out of the league in two years.

I wouldn't hold the last off season against him or his agent.

This team has the worst record in the NFL for overpaying and blinking during negotiations. They also make it worse by being effusive about players they're going to have to negotiate with, remember what he did during the Romo negotiation?

The Cowboys have the most players in the top 6 paid at their position and just blinked with the RB with an unheard of 2 years left and the QB was going to acquiesce? They played hard ball but they haven't lost yet, they may still get the deal they were holding out for.

Is he THAT good in your opinion?
Yes.

Also, imagine going into practice and having to prepare for:

Amari Cooper
CeeDee Lamb
Michael Gallup
Kyle Pitts
Zeke (power) or Pollard (speed, elusiveness)
and a mobile Dak

Pick your poison.

How do you defend those 6 threats?

And you still have a multiple picks to address the defense, as well as free agency if they handle the Dak contract situation correctly.

They wouldn't let Romo do that and won't let Dalton either. Not many teams, except the Eagles, would let a backup battle with a 30M QB.
Yea, the Egirls have a hot mess on their hands now after just extending Wentz with a 100 million.

Wentz will have to eventually get the gig back or ask for a trade.

Luxury or not, we would’ve ended up with a player that arguably would have provided little help to our defense. Chaisson barely plays for JAX.

There were others defensive players taken later like CB’s. Or traded up or down for more picks.

Regardless, the argument wasn’t about comparing talent but addressing our greater weaknesses and making the defense more of a priority which many feel that until we do our offense alone will not be enough to meet our goals.
