Should Zeke be released in the offseason?

If we keep Zeke through March next year, we're guaranteeing his 2022 salary.
12.4mil gets Zeke for the next *two* seasons.

If Zeke worth 12.4mil total for the next 2 years?

I'd say no. Certainly his performance *this* year isn't worth that.

That 12.4 mil is better than the 24 mil that would go on the dead cap money if released after the season. His 2021 salary all all of his option bonus money was guaranteed as of 03/22/2020.

If not for a 26 yard run yesterday, Zeke would have had 11 carries for 22 yards.

His decline is very concerning.

Should he be released in the offseason?
I think so...he is clearly not the same player he was as a rookie.

I was very against giving him the new contract because it was obvious to me he was declining. I would much rather let Pollard and a rookie or two take over the job. I think we will be just fine and more explosive.

I think Moore is a massive wedge in the system when it comes to Zeke and the run game. Since Moore took over Zeke has been on a massive decline.
It doesn't bold well in Zekes favor when he literally has no home run capabilities and can't make defenders miss worth a damn anymore

To costly to cut bait, would dangle him in the open market to see if we can find someone to bite or get a reasonable offer that we don't eat to much of the contract. They will probably ask him to rework his contract also

"If not for a 26 yard run yesterday, Zeke would have had 11 carries for 22 yards." says the same type of person that gushes over Pollard average when he has half a dozen runs less than 3 yards then breaks one to make his average good...

Yesterday wasn't good for our run game period... Zeke - 2, 2, 5, 3, 4, 1, 0, 1, 4, 26, -2, 2 TP - -1, 5, 0, 1, 17, 2, -1, 7, 4, 3, 2, 7

I never liked him.
I was adamantly against his big $$ signing.
I can't stand his fumbles.
He leaves more meat on the bone than a vegan.
He hasn't "broke one" in years.

We have a football stupid GM.

show me all the true holes he missed and the 7-9 man front against our 3rd lines all season. Show me LOL

Pollards is just as bad or worse.. that shows the OL and no pass threat are the true issues.. they wont allow us to run dont respect the pass so they have been stacking the line..

troll haters alert.the entire thread was a siren for the trollers

Technically his 2022 salary becomes guaranteed if he's on the roster at the start of next season so if you're committed to him in 2021 then you're committed to him in 2022.

He's still pretty young so I would bet on a bounce back year. However, if he can't get it done in 2021 then you draft someone in 2022 to compete with him and move on in 2023.
that goes for Dlaw, Jsmith and others they all fit the cap casualty list for 2022 season which will be full rebuild mode once that happens..TS likely retired or cut by then etc etc Amari also i mean that will be the white flag year..see how they do in 2021 and if necessary time to let them go trades or cuts..

That same OL kept Dalton protected just fine.
Can Zeke only be stellar when he has 4 All-Pros in front of him?
Is the OL to blame for Zeke gagging on a pitchfork and coughing up the ball time after time?

Zeke is not a team leader and cannot carry a team to victory. Turns out more times than not that the team has to drag his lazy, overpaid rear end to victory.
had zero to do with run blocking against stacked lines or in obvious run downs the OL can not get any push..they have been better in the pass blocking but again has zero to do with the run game..that goes for KM who is far better scheming the pass and calls FB type runs all game//sorry it has almost all to do with the OL...give it break..

how about fixing the OL and hiring an elite OL coach?

none of our RBs are having fun.

Short of astute cap management it would be to hand a man $35M for nothing in return. Zeke is a Cowboy for at least 2 more years, probably 3.

This is it. We have Zeke for another two seasons, after this one, at least. At that point, there is a window by which the team could release him and that would cause a 6.7 mil dead cap hit, which I believe could be spread over two seasons, depending on when the team might release him. Still not cheap but then again, it's not like the team and that fan basse didn't know this.

Everybody was warned that this could end up being a very bad idea but the pay the man crowd wouldn't have it so here we are.

Have you not heard, you don't need a good OL to run.
Barkley managed to put up amazing numbers his rookie year behind one of the worst O lines in the league  Oh, that’s right, according to Ronnie that Giants O line was much better than the stats showed, it was Barkley making them look bad, lol.

Funny how much criticism Barkley got after the first MNF game this year against Pitt. Anyone who watched it saw how quick he was getting hit in the backfield, something less than a second after touching the ball. It was all Barkley’s fault, the O line was never mentioned.

For the past 4 years it’s been easy to criticize other RB’s who didn’t have great lines but now once poor wittle zeke doesn’t have a top 5-10 O line it’s suddenly a valid excuse for all the RB’s. I don’t recall many people giving credit to the O line for the past 4 years (despite a few of us saying otherwise and backing it up with individual RB stats) it was allllllllll zeke and IMOF a lot of people said the O line wasn’t nearly as good as their ranking and stats suggested.

Got to have both an OL and a back to get things done. One without the other will not work. So do agree with some things you say. So Zeke will have to pickup the pace next year.
