Losing interest in the Cowboys and the NFL

Are you even joking me? I didn’t say I’m switching favorite teams. I was born and raised a Dallas fan. I said I’m finding another team to cheer for throughout the playoffs.

I didn’t say to “jump ship”.

I wasn't joking. But...it would seem we actually agree.

When you said "find an enjoyable team"...that threw me off a little bit.

Its work to watch the NFL these Days and even harder work to watch the Cowboys . Never thought I would turn a game off especially when we were winning but the game against the Eagles was so badly played by both teams and QBs that I could not stand it any longer

Always throw out the plats homie. I love it. You're one of the good guys.
You're like a sympathetic superhero that tends to lose, but we want you to win.

hahahaha....the super hero that tends to lose....that is classic man...i try to say the company i get my platinum ore cheated me..it turned out to be aluminum..hahhahahahah.......Corso in all honestly

what is your view of McCarthey?....i mean some of 4th down plays he calls are sheer bafoonery...like the last fake punt...a very slow developing double reverse and the guy does not even pass the ball

and the defense has all the time in the world to correct and Wilson does not even make back to line of scrimmage....or first game the 4th and 3 1/2 from the 11 yard line and if we kick FG we tie and our

defense had been playing good?...or the 4th and 1/4 of a yd and instead of Zeke up the middle or Dalton sneek he calls for low probability pass to the flat..it had no chance.....or the big one...to sign off

on his buddy Mike Nolan to attempt to install a brand new schematic difficult defense with little to no real practice time...usually a big philisophical change on defense takes months or couple of seasons

but they said..heck no man...we can do it all on zoom sessions....so stupid...how does that even make it out of the gate???....plus i heard McCarthey admitted he lied about spending all offseason studying

mathmatical probabilities of plays citing all the variables that come into play.....maybe i am all wrong on how i view this guy...but i am ticked off...he almost makes my Plat guarantees look golden

I mean I have nothing better to do on Sundays so I wont ever stop watching.

But I've given up any hope after watching this shitshow for 25 years. Dont have the energy anymore to come up with ideas to make this team a SB contender because it's all pointless anyway with Jerry and Stephen in charge.

This past Sunday I watched the last 2 minutes of the lions game and maybe 6 minutes of the Philly game. This is what happens when the ownership runs the franchise into the ground not mention the dummies running this league..

mr lukin---when our cowboys are bad my whole NFL outlook goes down the drain...if we can get a decent DC and if our players can stay relatively healthy we will be a force to be reckoned with....but dont i say this every year only to be

usually very disappointed come december?....but watch out next year..Dak will be back and have zero lingering affects from injury plus his hunger to kick butt will be at all time high and that attitude will trickle down ...i can see our team

having huge chip on shoulder to prove they belong with the big boys in January

I have been watching this team since the very first season, I have been a Cowboy's fan since the first game. I used to buy two different papers in Dallas to read about them. Then took Skip Bayless' faxed sports page so I could get Spags articles. Listened to Randy Galloway religiously. Fisher, and even Bayless when he had a show.

I currently DVR the games and speed through the commercials. So I have to wait and stay away from any form of news in case they talk about the game.

What my experience has shown me is there are highs and lows. The Ice Bowl, I was a kid and cried after that game. 68 and 69 were difficult. Two straight losses to the Browns in conference championship games. Four straight losses considering twice to the Packers. 1970 was tough. Dallas beat the Colts but the refs made serious mistakes which cost Dallas the game. The 80's were tough after the three expulsions from the NFC Championship games 80, 81, 82. 81 was the worst loss I have ever experienced. I cried after that one. Then that embarrassment of a loss to the Rams in 83.

89 was the worst season I can remember as an adult. But still, nothing daunted me because Dallas was assembling a team to win.

This past two decades has not been easy. But there have been some times when this team was good. Somehow I was numb during the 2007 Giants loss. I went into that game thinking they were going to lose, even with a 13-3 record.

In all of this I have not given up on this team. Frustrating at times, yes. But this is the only team I have ever followed. This is my team.

So when I see threads like this I categorize the posts into two different lists.

Fans who became fans after 1997.

Fans who have been fans before 1992.

For the kids, and that is what you are to me, that have never seen a championship season, I understand your disillusionment. It seems this franchise has never fielded a team worth a damn. So when you say you are less thrilled as time goes by, it surely is fathomable. I get it. No harm, no foul.

But for the grey beards who have been around through the good times, I don't understand your position at all. If you've been following this team for thirty years or more and now don't care, then perhaps you were not a real fan at all. Maybe it would be best if you had a closet full of jerseys. One for every team. That way you can wear the logo of the team you are following that wins.

I consider that being a front runner. regardless of how long you have clung to this team in hopes.

This is the Dallas Cowboys. Five time world champs. Twenty years of a winning streak. This is my team. There are none like it.

And I am not going to lose interest, or bail, just because this team is in a dry spell. So have it your way. But if you posted something in this thread which says you just don't feel the same.

Then do not ever tell me about what real fans of the Dallas Cowboys think, say, or do. Because you have no idea.

mr kumizi----i totally hear you man...i have been a fan since 1970..50years.....and i am so tired of hearing the same thing every year..."this is our year".......but i have a feeling Dak coming back with zero lingering affects from injury and

a hunger to kick butt will trickle down to the players and we will be a force to be reckoned with next year

two Deep...i became a fan right before super bowl 5 against the Colts....as you know yourself there have been highs and lows...but the last 25 years has been a valley for way too long......i hope Dak comes back paid and with a vengeance that trickles down to the other players

I feel the same way, just not that interested in the game anymore. TOO political for me, sports use to be an escape for me, not anymore. Hell, more than half the teams are a fricking joke, I'd even put my money on a couple of college teams to do better than some of these teams, that's how bad it's gotten.

RedZone and fantasy football are why I watched yesterday. If I was stuck with an individual game - and the two hours of commercials - I'd have looked for something else.

I was also watching Liverpool smash Wolverhampton 4-0. Football without commercials - how do they do it?
Redzone when the Boys are not playing is golden to me. Playoffs I will watch whole games.

NFL is the last sport I actually take the time to watch but I don’t get upset if the Cowboys lose anymore. It’s made the team more enjoyable to watch when I’m not expecting much from them. It’s even more fun reading the fan reactions here.

The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our Cowboys love become a funeral pyre

I've loved, laughed and cried
I've had my fill, my share of losing
And now, as tears subside
I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way
Oh no, no, not me
I did it my way
