Would you do this trade with the Jets?

Basically, we're moving from 5th to 25th for their 2nd rounder and Quinte(ms) Williams. Keep reading some are now calling this kid one of the best DT in the league. Say he's playing off the chart.....

Our 1st ( top 5-10) for
Jets 1st from Seattle (25th), 2nd (33rd) and DT Q. Williams

In a heartbeat. We come out of the first two rounds with Williams, Jaycee Horne, Nick Bolton and Trevon Moehrig. But why would the Jets do that?

This is a very interesting trade scenario:

-Would allow us to fill a priority need and give us another selection in the top 40.
-Downside is, you move out of a QB draft down slot or trading away from a possible blue or red chip prospect

I know here in NY at the trade deadline, heard that everyone was available expect Q. Williams. Would this be enough to pry him away, even at their rebuilding stage?

You could probably still obtain a quality DT and not give up so much draft capital. Say the Bears call and fall in love with a QB prospect. We could say package has to start with Hicks.

Going back to the original offer from the Jets, I would take that deal. Have 3 picks top 40 picks to rebuild the defense in a hurry.

It gets you a young top-level DT and we still would have a 1st AND extra 2nd. If you thinking LBer maybe Bolton or CB, maybe Horn. Remember, the Steelers and Ravens have made a living finding TOP talent at the bottom of the 1st round.

I know some may ask why would the Jets wanna move back up ......take the best WR for Lawrence.

Nope

Not with the uncertainty surrounding our QB situation and the fact that we could get a haul because some team wants to trade up for Zach Wilson

I get it, you aren't going to get Horn, who I think is a top 12-15 prospect, but you could fill the Linebacker with either Bolton or Collins, take a 2nd tier corner and perhaps the #1 Safety. All that with Williams just through the 2nd rd. I like the deal, but not sure the Jets want to get rid of their best defensive player, especially after they just traded away Adams.

Sure. This team needs lots of help, getting Lawrence, even if we could, isn't going to fix things. With Lawrence, we'd probably score more points and hold other teams points down, but ultimately would just lose games 28-24 instead of 35-17...

If they think Darnold will be a top qb eventually. They will need better players around him and the more early picks the more it can do that...

I guess I can see that but it's a lot to give up. It's also a huge jump, so the price is gonna be high.

Yes, but NY would be insane to trade Williams. He's turning into a star and he's still young...kind of dude you build an entire defense around.

Playing devil's advocate, you could of said the same thing about Jamal Adams.

Yes and no...Adams contract was a little further along and they also weren’t starting down the barrel of drafting Lawrence.

Good points. Still think we would have to overpay to land a player like Q. Williams.

I'd probably do this trade, but would want another pick next year as well, or something like that. Moving down 20 spots in the first round is a lot, though I think this is an OK draft to do that kind of thing and not miss out on too much talent.

In a normal draft, no. But this top 5 sucks for us.

How many years will be left on his deal. And conversely, how many before he holds out for a new one knowing Jerry always bends the knee?

I love his talent, but that's a trade you make when you're one or two players away. Do you think this team is?

He has 3 years left on his deal. Last year people didn't wanna do it for a 2nd when this discussion was brought up. Theres no better prospect in this years draft...I tried explaining that but it was like talking to a wall
