I think is reflective of the times. If we’re winning it’s more positive. Losing more negative. But fan forums generally are a venue where fans discuss and call out their concerns.

On the old official DallasCowboys.com fan site that was up about 15 years we tried a Silver Lining forum. It was a ghost town. And closed after a couple years.

These forums thrive on activity much like media outlets thrive on viewership. Inciting reactions and trolling response attracts fans reactions. That’s the lifeblood for all media outlets and why the news has about 28 minutes of bad news and about 2 minutes of good news.

You have to make an effort to distance from the Negative vibe by ignoring or tuning it out. There’s several forums on this site which are very entertaining with discussions without the nonsense often seen in main forum if you’re looking for a softer side.

Oh, happy, joy, joy. The Cowboys are 4-9 and at the bottom of the NFC East - the worst division in the league. But we're giving it the ole college try, even if we are professionals.

Gee willakerr! Our boys are trying so hard. Let's applaud them for their effort.

Rah, rah, sis coom bah! See Zeke run to the Salvation Army kettle and donate himself. He almost made it in the bucket. His leaping skills are improving.

Yippe Kie Yay! Yippe Kie Yo! Andy Dalton threw the prettiest interception a backup has ever thrown.

Oh shucks a rooie! We have the best owner money can buy.

Wax on! Wax off! Look at the defense almost make a sack after 10 seconds.

Ruh Roh! Another ball bounces off a defensive backs' hands. At least they were able to put their hands on the ball.

Blowing kisses, sunshine and flowers to all the wonderful Cowboys fans in Cowboyzone. We are so proud of our Boyz for another sub-par year and a string of futility that stretches 24 years and counting. Thank you for giving us such hope that the future will be bright under the reign of Jerry Jones and his capable son, Stephen Jones. Let's give them a :clap:for their hard work and dedication.

There was critical thinking while we were winning championships during the 70’s and 90’s.

Its all part of the analytical discussion of personalities and events which we even had during the glory years as well with personal player behavior and disappointment.

Winning championships doesn’t exclude criticisms and situations whether it was Irvin or Hollywood’s Cocaine , 2 QB alternating plays, Emmitt holding out or Jimmy abruptly leaving and Tom not winning more championships which all are valid examples which were widely criticized in the midst of all the success we were having.

This has nothing to do with recent success. Just what you feel about the environment here since you’ve joined.

I think there are a few outspoken negative posters. The rest are positive for the most part, although make what might be perceived as negative comments from time to time. (Any criticism is viewed as negative by many.)

The outspoken few make so many negative posts that it can warp the perception about the forum's environment.

Sorry buddy it always has to do with recency bias. When we are doing well its more upbeat, when we aren't its a place to vent.

It’s 100 pct correlated to team performance. They lose and it’s negative. They win and it’s positive. For the most part. The negative feelings are completely fair now. They have been terrible.
I'd have to disagree with that. We just won last week, but most posts after the game were about diminishing the W, or people upset about draft position.

I even look back at the Wade Phillips or Bill Parcells years when we were mostly good. Anymore people talk about those two like living gods almost, but we had posts every week talking about those guys getting fired. I remember people constantly complaining about "camp cupcake", parcells being too conservative, QB mismanagement, etc

Very good point. I often forget how easily the voices of many get drowned out by a loud minority.

I'd say it is far more negative than positive. Now to be fair i think any fanbase who hasnt won a superbowl in the last decade is probably pretty similar, much of it is just simple human psychology. When i look at the board what really pokes out at me is how it really doesn't matter what happens it gets spun into a negative. for example... Oh we won last week? well that screws up our draft spot.....Oh the defense had a good game? Well that goes against the agenda to get Nolan fired, cant support that....Oh Dalton had a good game? Well i cant admit that because it makes Dak look weak....Connor Williams isnt the next Larry Allen? He must be worthless, and needs to be benched immediately!

And it often seems like if you try to point out a positive you get multiple responses that want to fight you every inch because everything Jerry touches has to turn to coal.

I know this season hasnt had a lot to celebrate, but here in just a couple months everyone goes back to 0-0, and the Cowboys have a lot to look forward to.
