The question is would you pay Dak $35M-$40M per year or keep Dalton @$10M and draft a prospect and rebuild in other areas? Dak needs an all-star roster to be serviceable, everyone knows how he performs when the o-line is garbage and the running game is not there.

WRONG.

Yeah we saw it for 5 games this year.. he averaged 381 yards passing per game and led the offense to over 33 points per game.. Friggin scrub..

Most of that stuff was garbage time numbers after falling behind in every game and playing catch up. The Falcons game was the only game he won and it was by pulling a rabbit out of the hat on special teams. Any GM will look at Dak's body of work and see his limitations, Stephen Jones is going to be the one making a decision on his extension, and if Dak's demands are still the same he won't get a long term contract with Dallas.

PS... please see Zeke.

Is like you guys ignore the facts willingly. Dak needs an Amari Cooper type of player, a Zeke, and an O-line full of all-pro's. All of those are higher earners in their respective positions. Again, Dak is no elite QB, he's just serviceable. Just like Alex Smith with the WFT.

Dalton has been balling with an o-line full of practice squad guys and on a first-year offense. Any GM would recognize who is the better return based on compensation.

If JJ can't align the pieces with top dollar, what is the inkling that he will with "thrift store" value? I simply don't get it and I dare think he will.

The issue with JJ is always the same, he overvalues our players. Dak is not going to command a $35M/yr contract from anyone except Dallas. He should put him on the trading block and let's see if anyone bites on a 1st round+.

Yeah, great stats......once he was down by 20 points.

He went 1-3, and the one was the onsides gift from Atlanta.

I see this thread about Dak needing / don’t need an all star cast whatever. I like Dak but we have to remember this.

Dak do need a cast where there isn’t a weakness because if it weren’t for the Amari Cooper trade in 18, that team wouldn’t have finished at 10-6.

Dak struggled in the first half of every game he played this year and every team with the exception of the Rams and Giants played soft in the 2nd half. This is a problem because last year, we have seen him start out fast in some games and then don’t do anything until garbage time.

That being said, he is the best qb the Cowboys have but they would be crazy to pay Mahomes type money.

With that…..are you prepared for "rebuilding" vs the "playoff pretender" promotion?

Missing the playoffs at 8-8 is the same as missing the playoffs at 5-11. There are no moral victories when you suck. I just want this team to win and win the right way, right now something is not clicking and it didn't click last year either.

If we commit $150M to Dak with the $190M already committed to Zeke and Amari and we don't win then what?

Fair enough....but that's a JJ issue, when tested with market value or possibilities of losing a player.....not the player. But I guess I need to start a Bash Amari thread since it's Zeke that bears the brunt of fanbase, daily for offense issues.....just for fair share.

Why would you continue to repeat this same tired old trope? Dak brought the team back to hold a lead in the second half of every game but Cleveland.. Against Seattle he put them ahead with 3 minutes left? So were those garbage time? Was Seattle just letting him run it up and down the field to add drama? Were the Falcons? The Giants? Even against Cleveland the "garbage time" people conveniently ignore that 14-7 lead Dak had given the team early in the second quarter. It's fascinating that all these teams were willing to just sit back and do nothing while Dak moved the Cowboys up and down the field to the the tune of 30+ points.. How very charitable of them. The fact of the matter is that had the defense simply showed up against the Browns and Seahawks we would have seen two more wins. Maybe three because there were pretty lame against the Rams too.. but the Rams didn't have a preseason either so they couldn't exploit the defense the way teams did later on.

Go back to last year, and dak does not do well in the first half. His stats come 3rd and 4th quarter. There are a number of reasons you might not sign Dak: Decreasing cap, he went 8-8 last year being one of the top qb's in the league, most of his stats come playing the hurry up offense when the defense is trying to hold a lead, and so on.

I have read a lot of your pro dak posts, and I am not against dak, but I am curious about how would you critique dak's negatives, and what is his downside?
