Generally, the very top QBs in time-adjusted (for era) QB ratings are also Hall of Famers. I think 19 of the top 20 are in the HOF or will be eventually (guys like Wilson Brees, Brady, etc). The lone exception is the snake-bitten Romo. All 19 others will make it.

The huge exceptions of those not in the top 20 are: Moon, Aikman, Bradshaw, and Elway . They all fall into the category of having ok to good, but not great regular season QB ratings---not even when time-adjusted for era.

All but Moon have multiple rings though

Nope! Aikman beat good teams and performed well in the playoffs when football was a real physical game and players had a bounty on their head. Had Aikman played in todays era he would have a double the TDs and half the INTs with defenders not being allowed to touch WRs or being able to lay nasty hits on the QB.

And the SB run he had a stacked defense to help. Dak haters say he has to carry the entire offense even with the shortcomings of the D not helping with field position.

First you say Aikman was great.

Then you end up saying Aikman was good.

Which was he? Great or Good?

A Great QB is one that can not only carry a team but also build up the players around him. Aikman was not able to do that after their last Super Bowl year (1995). This proves Aikman was Good but not Great.
How many concussions did he have at that point?

He was great!

That's another good point, the quality of teams Aikman faced in the 90's. I mean in 92 we had the last two superbowl champions as teams in the NFC East. The Skins who had won the last superbowl and the Giants who had won the one before that. And the Eagles were a pretty good team as well. The NFC East was the best division in all of football. Now we play in the NFC Least and struggle in such a weak division. Some of those post 96 superbowl Aikman teams would've easily won against this division.

Great point. Look at the NFC then. The 49ers were a super bowl level team in the Nineties. Those NFC champ games against them were epic level games with two outstanding teams. The Cowboys had to play some outstanding teams to win. No one in the NFC East today is even marginal. If these teams played in the 90’s, they would have even worse records.

I saw Aikman get pizzed at the team and especially the coach. I'm sure there were other times we didn't get to see it.

Now it might be true you need a couple SB's under your belt to pull that off. But...still....that's true leadership right there. It's not just "let's go baby".

Man, must be younger fans coming up with this "Aikman was pedestrian" stuff. The league was really different in the early to late 90s. It isnt the pass happy, protect the QB at all costs league it is now. 300 yards a game was a big accomplishment. Now its nothing. There was a certain guy behind him too, cant remember his name, but I think, and dont quote me, that he was pretty good =)

He was incredible in the playoffs and SBs. He was so accurate in the Norv offense it was scary. Once they got away from the timing based offense or didnt have the players to run it anymore, he suffered. He also wasnt great in wet conditions and he admitted that. But alot of his passes were so pinpoint it was nuts. Wish Dallas would run the timing offense where the QB throws to a spot even before the WR starts his break. Done right its really hard to stop. Dak doesnt do that and seems to need to have his guy get open, turn around and wait for the fast ball. He has no anticipation at all.

Sigh. Dak haters are really Dak likers just not to the tune of 20% of the cap. Five years in Aikman had two rings as signature wins versus Dak one division win. And yes we know Troy had an actual coach and not a couple marionettes. The rules were not skewed to the offense the way they are now.

This is one of those times a multiple like button is needed. One just isn't enough.

This explains a lot perfectly.

I'd like to see how Dak would have handled that Philly defense from 89-91. Buddy Ryan said it was the best defense he ever coached or saw, even better than his 85 Bears.

Using the SAME standards Dak haters use.
just a point about Aikman's stats, his touchdown passes were greatly reduced by having the touchdown machine on the team, namely Emmit. I remember watching games that decade and seeing countless drives where Aikmans passing to Irvin and Novacek moved the chains only to have Emmit pop it in for 1 yard. Aikman did all the team needed him to do and was a winner.

Dak haters are evil strange.
evil strange? Honestly I think the hater haters are the strange ones, constantly berating people on this forum to whom they are addressing their points. That's personal man. And the fact that you are tossing in the word "evil" shows you how unreliable your thought processes are. Evil? really?
