What Do We Think About Today’s Win

Does this take us out of Farley/Surtain territory and squarely in the Jaycee Horn/Stokes area? What prospects do you guys see in the 11-14 range?

Additionally, if we win next week and WFT does we have a 7-9 record and a non-playoff draft pick. I assume somewhere between 15-18. Who do you guys see there?

In terms of the first round I don’t mind the prospects available there. It’s the top of round 2&3 guys I was hoping we would get.

I hated it. Meaningless game to win . I hate the Eagles but I want to win in the draft at this point. Players know high picks mean lost jobs to them.. .....Player 11- 15 the only hope is a run on QBs push talent down to us. Maybe Caleb Farley, Davion Nixon, Christian Darrisaw, possibly Jayson Oweh. I hope for Alex Leatherwood......

I’m glad you hated a Cowboy win. You’re not a fan. Go back to Tim buck two.

I tweeted the same.

However, I think it takes us into Jaycee Horn/Zaven Collins/Nick Bolton territory.

Still can't figure out Stokes. Feels like a very late 1st or early 2nd round guy to me. I'm allowing the possibility he could be better than that but haven't seen enough yet.

It’s incredible we still have a top 11 pick and we have a shot at winning the division next week. Only in the nfc east

No bigger draft fan here than me.

The analytical side of me says you lose and get the impact player in the draft, but once the game starts, my heart takes over and I want to see:

  • Cowboys players I really root for like Cooper, Zeke, Gallup, Lamb, Schultz, and Diggs do well
  • Cowboys win
  • Eagles lose

If we lose out on the division next week sobeit. We're out of the Caleb Farley conversation anyway. I'm rooting like heck for a win and the division even though it probably means getting our heads kicked in by Tampa Bay the following week. Pick 19 here we come.

I’ll take anyone one of those three you mention.

MIA now has the 3rd pick along with another 1st and 2 2nd round picks. They are open for business and if you want a QB, your team can go get him.
ATL now has the 4th pick and they have massive salary cap nightmares and players they can’t trade due to massive dead caps hits in Ryan, Julio and Matthews. Their defense is bare. It’s worse than DAL! They are a prime candidate for a trade down, amass picks and rebuild while they play out the expensive contracts for the next 3 years.

Today things actually opened up at the top.

I wonder if Moehrig rises into that top 20 range after the off-season.

For a new coaching staff, brings a winning culture is very important. Even if they fail to make the postseason, it shows which players fought through adversity and which did not

Hope he doesn’t because I want him in the 2nd. I was hoping to get him in the 3rd but that is not going to happen. Actually I would loved to get Farley/Surtain, Bolton/Collins, Moehrig and Shelvin (LSU DT) with our first 4 picks but I know that is not going to happen now.

With the lack of priority seemingly the whole league has put on the Safety position, and with Moehrig's questionable tackling, or at least tackling consistency, I think he goes in that same 2nd round range that Xaiver McKinney, Grant Delpit, Marquis Blair, Taylor Rapp, Juan Thornhill (sigh), Jesse Bates, Budda Baker, Marcus Maye, etc., went.

Safeties in the top 20 have to be elite (Jamal Adams, Derwin James). First round Safeties are rare in general. In 2019, Darnell Savage (sneaky special player) and Jonathan Abram (with the pick we traded for Amari Cooper) went in the 20-30 range.

Even so, we still should get a good prospect in rd 1.

This is exactly how S has gone. Unless you’re a can’t miss kinda guy you’re not going before round 1. There have been plenty of good S taken in rounds 2-4, hoping we can pick the right one.

Is Jessie Bates from the Bengals a FA? He looked good in the 2 games I saw him play.

I'm always happy for a win. Even when I think we should tank.
