He’s got a long way to go to reach Byron levels..

Byron also played corner as a rookie and I don’t remember near the screw ups like Diggs has had..

Upside is there but he’s gotten a lot of hype and hasn’t earned any of it. Typical Cowboy.

No not typical Cowboy. Just the typical negative post from you.

That's 3 more than Byron Jones has this year with zero and 1 more than Jones had in his 5 years of playing with the Cowboys.

It's nice to see that Diggs is looking for the ball get some interceptions.

He's had an outstanding season so far as a 2nd rounder and has been asked to do a lot.

He has a bright future.
As much as I love to crap on Byron.

Byron has 1 int this year. Even though it was off a tipped ball at the line and byron was in no mans land and lucky enough for him the tip dropped right to him. I'm pretty sure 99% of the people on this board could have had that same int.

Byron also had 2 ints with us. 1 was a hail mary attempt at halftime he came down with. And one was at the very end of a game that was again tipped at the line and went right to him.

Diggs started the season very very poorly. He definitely had a nice second half of the season. Chido sucks. that is all.

Imagine if we had Byron and Diggs in the same secondary. We would not have to draft a corner with our first two picks.

Well, I have to fess up. I said Byron Jones would have more interceptions with the Dolphins than he did with the Cowboys.

I was wrong.

Yup, its part of being a rookie CB. Very few will step in and play at a pro bowl level year one. Its a tough transition from college to the nfl at the position. Not only are you going up against better players, but you see a much deeper route tree, and offensive concepts. I am really high on diggs, but with any rookie CB expect some growing pains.
Not to mention NFL rules which favor receivers and put defensive backs at a distinct disadvantage.

I would have liked for Jones to stay but he got a contract this team couldn't afford

Right, I would have been ok for the right contract. However would have they drafted Diggs if he was here?
I would have to assume they would have, a 1st round talent in the 2nd, it was a no brainer just like selecting CeeDee.

He’s already got more career interceptions than Byron. You need to stop with all the ex cowboy love. If you love the guy so much. Go follow the Dolphins

It sucks we could not keep him. To be honest I would not have made him the 3rd highest paid cornerback in the league either. Diggs has big play potential at cornerback. His ball skills are excellent. He tracks balls like a wide receiver. Diggs and Byron would be a match made in heaven.

Getting rid of him was the best decision of the offseason. He was a choker!

I wish we had BJ's 3 passes defended this year...that is the missing ingredient!

Diggs on a rookie contract vs Jones with a rich contract???? You say jones is better, so then you agree Dak should get paid....cool!

Also wanted to update Trevon Diggs has a coverage grade of 63.1 which ranks him best on the team and 52nd in the nfl.
Byron jones has a coverage grade of 57.1 and 71st in the nfl. And not even close to the best player in the secondary.

and has only played 11 games, he missed time due to injuries. Diggs has made mistakes but I never felt he was overwhelmed at this level and seems to keep his head in the game even if he gives up a play. I can deal with a player who gives up a play especially at CB where league rules put them at a disadvantage but I also expect that player to go out and make big plays and Diggs has done that. I think he has a chance to become a very good CB in this league as he continues to grow and develop

How many yards has Byron given up this year? TDs? Completions?
before yesterdays game he has given up in 12 games. 44 catches for 628 and 2 tds. allowing a passer rating of 96.0. 14.3 yards per reception and 8.5 yards per target. Hes average to below average in many categories. The only thing he is good at is not allowing a lot of separation and not having the ball thrown at him a bunch. But when the ball is thrown at him it's not good.

This will obviously be worse when the raiders game gets accounted for.

yeh it's part of being a rookie ,,but its' also part of being a good coach placing players in best position to excel.

-Joe baker had Byron at CB, S and slot his rookie year , flexing and forcing him to elarn various positions and roles instead of tying down
one role and learning to master it , ..

- worse Baker felt Byron was a better safety than CB, and he suffered several years out of place. - until Kris Richard properly put him as a press jam CB.
Coaches damn sure matters.

I love Diggs and thinks he's got a very bright future. The thing is it wasn't one or the other. we could have had both if we hadn't given Jaylon and Zeke those huge contracts.

The dolphins had a major resurgence in Byron Jones was a big part of that. He didn't get a lot of pics but he prevented all kinds of plays from happening. Not as flashy but just as good in terms of getting wins and he is one of the best at it.

You clearly didn't watch the fantastic end to the Raider-Dolphin Fitzmagic classic on Saturday.Byron Jones unnecessary pass interference grab generated a 40+ critical penalty late critical to Miamis victory.
