That’s a really weird hit... considering how dumb Jaylon Smith is though I think the league will just write this off. It’s not like he actually thinks before he acts anyway. If this was a smarter player that actually knew of what they were doing, they’d likely get suspended. Jaylon Smith is not one of those guys.

Hard to tell but watching it in slow motion looks like he led with his shoulder.

his head was down BEFORE the hit to get leverage but he only hit him with his CHEST....even on a blurry video it was not a dirty hit.

Shoulder shrugging off a block is considered a "dirty play" now? Regardless of what the league wants you to think, some helmet contact is incidental and not malicious or dirty. This is grasping at straws.
Jaylon initiated the contact. He’s a moron.

He hurt his knee in college from an olineman blocking him away from the play like that. I think he is extremely defensive about being in that situation, it's why he gets blocked so easily. He doesn't plant and fight off olineman anymore. Don't know what he was expecting to do by lunging into him like that.

Lol this play was absolutely nothing like the one he got injured on. This is a play he's part over multiple times every game. The play that blew out his knee was after a whistle completely away from the play where he was pushed in the back and his knee buckled. This is a lineman pulling to make a block in the perimeter.

Initiating contact with a blocker often means you get your hands on them first allowing you to extend, explode, and shed before they can get a grasp on you. It's literally football 101 my dude. Get to the blocker and explode before they get into your body. Otherwise you're dancing around blocks (blasphemy as a linebacker) or getting washed out of plays.

Jaylon can't anchor, so he's left to do weirdo things like a flying spear with the crown of his helmet when a defender comes his way. I can't remember ever seeing anything *remotely* like that on a football field.

Whether you think it was his shoulder or his helmet, that's not how you take on and shed a blocker.

Jaylon ain't right.

He doesn't use his legs/feet when he tackles. He uses his weight instead. That's why he often gets dragged. How long can he last with that technique?

Obviously its not exactly like the one he got hurt on timing wise, but if you don't think Jaylon shies away from contact like that you haven't seen enough of his lowlights. Mailata was coming in hot and he did a defensive gesture that I've never seen anyone else do. Obviously as a LB he has to take on blocks, but its usually head on. In this case he was turned sideways as the runner was cutting in front of him.

Idk. It was dumb. It could have been called for a penalty..... but dirty or malicious? Idk.

I think knowing Jaylon.... it was just a dumb senseless play, rather than malicious and intent to hurt someone.

As long as Jerry keeps throwing him out there.

It's a weird deal. His physical limitations are obvious, but the team and team writers don't speak a peep of it, even with the general consensus on The Break that he just isn't good anymore.

His play has collapsed since 2018, his peak. I think it's physical, and started seeing it early last year, and only get worse as the season went on. Unless they have some medical prognosis that it will get better, we should just cut him. Without such a prognosis, I expect him to continue to stink, and likely only get worse. Playing him, we run the risk of his injury guarantees for the next *two* years kicking in, and for what? He's *bad*.

Am I missing something? From what I saw, he turned, and the guy slammed into his upper arm. Looked like a glancing blow. This is still tackle football, right? Kinda ticky-tack, if you ask me. Reminds of the recent “roughing the passer” call on Tank when his arm contacted the QBs throwing arm!

Philly is bitter, desperate, and grasping at straws.

The league office will bust out a 6 pack and chuckle amongst themselves "man that boy thinks he's a Pro Linebacker"
