Interesting how some transfer their motivations to another person. Being a HC in the NFL and the money might not be the motivator for him that it is for you. Guys like Saban, Petrino, Spurrier and Kelly thought the NFL was for them and then found out different.
He's 32 with a family and the greatest years of his life were in Boise and I can speak to that living there for 3 years and of the 10 places I have lived, including Dallas, it is by far the best place I ever lived. I returned to Dallas from Boise and was really depressed with how ugly Dallas is and what's attractive is all man made. No river running through the center of town, surrounding mountains with hiking, rafting, fly fishing and skiing 30 minutes away. Unless you want to wet your fly in the center of town on your lunch hour.
So, it's not all about the money to everyone and being the HC where he was considered the best ever player and living in one of the great towns in the US sure as hell beats coaching and living in DET.
Quality of life can only be defined by us not for us. I think it's a done deal and Booger and McC both know it and are sending that message. This is Kellen Moore's dream job and his mentor was the previous HC before the one that went to Auburn, Chris Peterson. He predicted Moore would be a HC.
Besides that, the NFL isn't a lure for a lot of college HC's and if you've been following it, the game is flowing from college to the NFL now, not the reverse. Nick Saban's office was packed with NFL coaches a couple of years back with them trying to learn form him how he dealt with this new high octane offense that was all college born.
This isn't a job, this is a Star Wars job, it is Kellen's destiny. Besides that, they've been waiting for him to return to do those goofy TV commercials.
