I was not aware that DasSchinitzel - aka 'TankerDas' - provided a weekly update on the NFL teams' draft status in general, and the Cowboys specifically (even though I commented a few times on his updates toward the end).
Put in work on this summary... but some opinions listed are put forward as facts.
First of all - when the NFC East finished week 4 as the only division with all teams under .500 - the mocking ramped up among sports media = "NFC LEast".
But as the season went on -- the narrative- no - ridicule - ramped up as if this situation never happened before.
Fact - this is the third time a sub .500 division has happened In just over a decade - NFC West 2010, NFC South 2014.
NFC West 2010....25-39 overall; Seahawks won division title going 7-9
NFC South 2014....22-41-1 overall; Panthers won division title going 7-8-1
With the NFC East teams playing each other in the 2020 season finale, the result will be 2 wins and 2 losses. The overall NFC East record will end up 23-40-21..
not any more. "Remarkable" than the 2010 NFC West 25-39 and 2014 NFC South 22-41-1 cumulative records.

Great post. I was team tank now we aren't getting a low enough pick might as well go try and play spoiler for fun lol

Longtime QBs and Cowboys fans both have to learn to take what the defense gives us.

This team was 3-9 a few weeks ago. If the best they can give me is a tank job and an exciting draft then that's what I'm cheering for I guess. But now, somehow, we got options!

I know some manly men like @Rockport need other men to go win a game of football so they can sleep well at night, but this sport is just entertainment for me, and it's not my fault that draft talk was more entertaining than this team before we even reached Thanksgiving.

I mean, sure? You're just being nit picky. The fact that a 25 win division and a 22 win division both occurred in the 50+ year long SB era doesn't really make us sound that much better as a 23 win division.

All 3 of these divisions were remarkably bad to get to host a playoff game. Which one is technically "worst" will be forever up for debate and personally I dont have the clearest memory on the 2010 Cowboys, let alone the 2010 7-9 Seahawks.

And anyway, cumulative record alone isn't really the way to address this question. If we're really gonna pick "the worst" then we got a lot more work to do. Realistically these 3 division leaders are all so bad and inconsistent that any game between any of them would probably be a coin toss and you could easily pick any of them as the worst and make a strong case.

No one should be surprised by how bad the teams in this division are. It was a remarkable confluence of factors to nuke each one.

Unique factors this year, but let's be real: this division has been bad for some years now. We've fattened up our W-L record w/division wins and been bad outside division--this for at least last 3 seasons.

Dallas is 4 to 8 guests all coming over for the first grilling day on the amazing new deck you just finished building.

Dallas is realizing the propane tank is empty at last second and having to go get a replacement but it's raining by the time you get back.

Dallas is then everyone going home early with determination that "next time will be better".

Will be interesting to see what happens in the playoffs. I will actually root for any NFC east team to win one playoff game just to further throw a wrench into everyone’s foregone conclusions.
interesting that everyone cast off the Big 12 as being bad this year too but then they win almost every bowl game against non-conf foes.

He called it not “unprecedented” but rather “remarkable,” which I think is a fair opinion of a phenomenon that has been true of 3 out of 80 division winners in a decade.
