Schefter: Dak Prescott, Cowboys 'Intend to Stay Together' in 2021 Despite Injury

TYLER CONWAYJANUARY 3, 2021

The Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott are headed into another offseason of uncertainty about their future together, with the water muddied even more by the quarterback's catastrophic leg injury.

However, it appears both sides remain strident in staying together long term.

"He wants to stay in Dallas and the Cowboys want him back, so you figure they would be able to work out a long-term deal, but they've struggled to do that for two years and that's where the uncertainty comes in at some point this offseason. But the fact of the matter is both sides want to stay together, and both sides intend to stay together," ESPN's Adam Schefter said on Sunday NFL Countdown.

I agree that is the most likely scenario, but I also thought the most likely scenario last season was a long term extension. Until we see some signed paperwork it’s hard to believe anything

Hater tears inbound in 3...2...1...
why must you say Haters? NOBODY is a flat out hater, they just have different opinions. That being said, Dak convinced me this year he is clearly the guy for us moving forward. That being said, we cant just sign him to Patrick Mahomes type money. So now its up to the front office and Dak to both be reasonable and come to a deal that works for both sides.

Still waiting for either a permanent signing or split happen between Jerry Jones and Dak Prescott. I will hold onto two personal opinions until something occurs:

Opinion 1: Jerry Jones did not switch 100% support from Tony Romo as his franchise quarterback to Dak Prescott unless he 'knew' Prescott was his new franchise quarterback. I have held this opinion (voiced it often) since November 2016.

Opinion 2: Dak Prescott considers his strongest market option is Dallas and thinks the strongest monetary return in the market can come from Jones. I believe Prescott (and his agent) will continue embracing a hardline stance of his own for as long as possible to achieve his own goals.

A franchise tag is simply a limbo mechanism empowering ultimate non decision-making. Both men should come to agreement whether to stick together or sever their professional relationship. The sooner the better.

Talk is cheap, so here is my 2 pesos worth...; of course Dak will be here next season, even if its on another franchised contract. Which i am pretty sure it will be. Their draft pick has slid down to where they cannot get their blue chip QB, hence another year for Dak. Book it Dano.

The same could be said about Wince, yet Eagles' Wince lovers are more happy talking about wanting to bring him over...even with his way overpriced contract?

This is about Prescott and Dallas management. It has nothing to do with what fans want.

Focus on the actions of those two, ONLY. Stop listening to words.

I remain not convinced that outsiders, seeing themselves as general manager, are on the same page as the actual general manager in this particular case. In my opinion, Jerry Jones is 100% behind Dak Prescott as his franchise quarterback. If true, it would make draft need for quarterback a low priority. Why would a general manager (in this case Jerry Jones) invest a high round draft choice at the position if he does not see a huge need?

I have a feeling the Cowboys have the leverage and are showing good faith in wanting to sign him. Dak needs to get real and settle for the offer.

Pure clickbait by Schefter. There’s nothing there saying anything by either camp. Its Schefter talking to talk cause there’s been nothing to talk about.

You seriously believe that? How often has Jerry made decisions based on what the majority of Cowboys fans want?
