Did Dalton play himself into a starter contract?

Dalton hangs onto the ball too long..he needs a better clock. With those wr's and that NY secondary...there's no reason to hold the ball as long as he did

Andy Dalton seems to be on a good streak this Kellen gun offense and 3 game win streak ,, seem like he's gain great confidence and rhythm en route to big plays in pass game

this could make him look more attractive in the FA market .. teams like the Pats, ..or Washington that could have really used him

His age (33 yrs) will be something going against him long term. but i could see Pats signing him as a stopgap starter until a a grooming young buck draftee is ready to take the wheels

He's like a Ryan Fitzpatrick

:D
Maybe a starter where.... cause he took about 3 sacks or maybe 4 that he had no business taking.. Get rid of the ball or take off with it. He had now problem doing it or trying to run with it.

Dalton played himself into a starter on a team that doesn't want to make the playoffs.

If you want that team to be Dallas, then thats on you.

Dalton showed all his warts today but I will give him props for toughness. I know that left hand was throbbing after being stepped on which made handing off a little dicey. He threw the ball better in the second half but I thought Moore did him no favors with some of that play calling.. Especially in the red zone.. How many times were we sacked on 2nd or 3rd down down there after going 5 wide empty backfield for reasons on Moore can explain..

Dalton played well in the second half. Blame Schultz and Lamb for putting Dalton in a position where he had to play desperate.

I'm not gonna do a "I told you so" to you Dak haters because I know y'all sad right now. Fact is, Dalton did ok today. Not great...not bad. Some good and some bad. Nothing to be ashamed of. He's a backup in this league. A good backup too.

They'd probably argue they bailed Dalton out all day especially when he threw 3 picks.......

stats prescott costs us the season. don't pay the loser

lol blaming Dalton's bad first half in this game and his game ending INT on Dak. Funny how Dalton Supporters wanted to give Dalton the full credit for winning the first match up against the Giants when the Cowboys were winning when Dak went out. But, don't want to fault Dalton for this loss and for failing to get the Cowboys in the playoffs when he had a chance to do so in a bad division. As he took over in time enough to at least get 7 or 8 wins by now.

Dalton is on the decline of his career. Still a great back up quarterback nothing else
After today? Nope, but he's a quality backup.
My view on Dalton when he signed in the offseason: You are not going to find a much better QB to come in for a few games in the regular season if he is needed. But I do not want to see him in big games or the playoffs.

So ya, Dalton will be a great backup for some team out there. But I just don't believe any team would purposefully setup their roster for Dalton to be the starting QB all year.

It would take an injury, contract dispute, or starting in front of a rookie QB for him to start a season as QB1. But I don't think ANY team would pick him up with the intentions of starting all 16/17 games and/or playoffs.

JMHO

Dalton's entire career trajectory was built around coming up small in big moments, and that was even true during his career peak... which was already over like 4 years ago.

People trying to build him up as the team savior were always deranged.

Just admit you were wrong and quit hiding from it, binches.

Uh, no.

I have the same standard for Dalton as I do for Dak.

You're the high-price quarterback. You've GOT TO get it done.

You did not.

We're the Dallas Freaking Cowboys. We expect our quarterbacks to deliver playoffs at a minimum.

We aren't the Detroit Lions.

Well, we used not to be. :(
