I wouldn't mind McGovern given a real shot at LG simply because Williams is a soon to be UFA after next year.

Not sure this team is going to sign another 2nd contract to anyone on the offensive line now, expensive or not.

As of now, Connor Williams WOULD NOT a 2nd contract based on the standard set by Stephen which is at least one Pro Bowl

Umm, car accident wasn't how he got injured.

Umm, Umm, I didn't say the car accident was how he got injured. Try again.

If I remember correctly there was not much information coming from Collins about the car accident. I was speaking to the lack of information forthcoming by Collins (the severity of his hip injury and the accident being examples) this year which was strange.

Williams has mini-me arms. He'd be eaten alive at tackle. Part of the issue at OG (yes, both spots and more so RG which has been worse since Martin went out) is the weakness at C. Looney has been abysmal at center. He regularly stands there and blocks no one and helps no one. When Connor has some massive beast lined up over him, Looney should be cheating and helping that side. Yesterday was a failure by Williams, but it was also a failure by Looney and the staff.

I believe McGovern will be the left guard, and Williams will be the backup at guard and center

I don't know why they insist on playing Connor Williams at G, or anywhere for that matter.

He's average and gets overpowered too often, but people on here like him. People also liked Brandon Carr and I'm still trying to figure that out.

Interesting.......coz you'd think this could mean Williams moves to swing but FO doesn't seem to view him as a tackle.

Because jerry is a reject who believes if your arms are a 1/4 inch short you are physically unable to play tackle. Like wheelchair bound. He feels the same way about DE's too. Even though there are hall of famers with shorter arm lengths. Most recent is joe staley. Every bum gm said his arms were too short and would have to play inside.

I think the offseason will allow this staff the ability to evaluate and determine CM is the long term answer at LG. Our OL is shaping up nicely if they can stay healthy next year.

Because it was a minor accident without injuries

I would rather have Knight- Williams-Biadasz-McGovern-Martin with Steele as swing tackle.

Slide Martin out to OT. I don’t think Collins can play again and I would trade Smith for whatever I could get. Add another OL or two in the draft.

Knight is not a starting left tackle. He will give up about 10 sacks at that position if he started a full season. PFF credits him for four in nine starts and missed two of the toughest tests (Browns and both Washington games), plus I think one of those nine starts was at RT, which is where I think he is better suited.

Connor Williams is a solid player.

Problem is we need road graders.

We were always better with Leary in the lineup.. We forced La'el Collins to start over Leary as well as Connor Williams.

We've never replaced him and the bull dozing he brought to that position.

As long as Connor Williams is cheap against the cap I have no problem with him but we need a road grader at guard.

I don't think we'll renew him as a starting guard, especially with McGovern already on the team to take his place. That's one reason I would move him to tackle. With the future of both tackles uncertain, I'd prefer to give him a chance to show that he might have a future there. Then, renewing him for the right price might make sense.

Williams was supposed to be our best OL left this year, but he got run over yesterday. Just doesn't seem to have the makeup for a G.
Williams gets ran over a time or two every game but he was the best OL that played every game this season for Dallas. McGovern got beat a ton yesterday and throughout the season.

I think Williams should play tackle but if he is staying at guard then him and McGovern should battle for starting spot next year. Winner starts and the other is swing guy

How does one play without cartilage in one’s hip? That is the rumor. I am not a doctor and do not know if cartilage grows back over time.

Hey Robin, go do some research and report back to me. - Respectfully, Batman.
First he was just fat
Then no cartilage
Likely people guessing

Smith/Williams, McGovern, Biadasz, Martin, Collins.

Smith and Williams would both start games at LT as smith will never again play 16 games straight.

Williams also would be 1st sub at every oline spot.

Would be our best lineup imo.

McGovern seemed to be pretty solid. I can't see why he couldn't beat out CWill. Nor can i see why it took so long for the staff to get him on the field.

That's a no brainer. It's, actually, a given that McGovern should replace Williams when Zack Martin returns to his RG spot. It would very likely have been destined to happen, whether Broaddus favors such a move, or not. Williams is far from an ideal player at LG, while injury held McGovern back. ;)

It’s hard to trust BB. He’s been horribly wrong about players multiple times.

Was thinking the same thing. Plus McGovern did not show he was any better than Williams.
However since Williams is the sites whipping boy for the usuals club, it will not fly with many, their minds re made up from the start. As usual.

Just what we need, the Dallas Standard, Ok enough to get on the field, but nothing spectacular about him.

Unfortunately you gotta have some of those guys in the salary cap era.

Also, NFL offensive lineman are terrible in general. IF you have a good one you're lucky.

Most teams don't invest in their oline.

When you pay WR's, RB's, QB's, youre gonna have guys like Connor Williams on your football team.
