It's possible. The only thing I said is that we need to keep the circumstances of this season in mind. There are also other backs who had a down year for various reasons and came back strong in their sixth season. He could easily have a couple more very good seasons in him.

I know that there are not many backs in the last 20 years to have been superstars in their sixth season, but it's kind of funny that both Emmitt Smith and Adrian Peterson had their best rushing seasons in their sixth year. I might can look up other players that had long careers that had similar success their sixth year, but I don't want to put that much effort into it.
Zeke does not have the mental make up of Smith or AP. Not even close. He was great in 2016 so at least you have that.

If Garrett gets the Chargers job than see if he's stupid enough to trade Derwin James or Bosa for Zeke.

While we're at it lets see if he would trade Dak for Herbert.

They are all the same.

I'm starting to become annoyed and insulted at it.

As if we cant see the games.

Theres ways to spin this for the media without saying it this way.

The praise for garbage performance is the big problem.

He doesn't have a great work ethic. He relied too much on his natural ability and has slid each year. Meanwhile, Henry was busting his butt in the gym and has ascended. Can you imagine how good Zeke could have been if he actually got better after his rookie year instead of peaked during it?

What is MM supposed to say?

Yea Jerry messed up paying this guy top dollar and now we're stuck with him.

I think if zeke didn't get sucked into the cowboys "entertainment" culture and played on a different team he would have better results.

Zeke's a very good player. But he lacks the consistency he once had. Overpaid as well.

The problem is his offense doesn't feature heavy use of RB. Add Pollard carries and Zeke becomes a part-time back on a top tier contract. Last I check, his carries were down about 30% from his average I think.

we played from behind a lot man , the Ol couldn't open consistent holes and they abandoned the run a lot..i agree with MM, he will be fine in 2021, 2022 is the year they have to make a business decsions on many players including zekes..stop trying to TELL a seasoned HC what to think and feel about player and how they are paid and used..that gets old around here..

you act as if they dont know things you bring up, they unaware of things fans know?

NOT..lol EE is paid and hes on this team and his down year was the teams down year..

2021 will put a lot of the player narratives in focus because i believe much improved and hopeful less inured team will have 2021 as success and will make 2022 decsions on big deals and dead cap more clear, this was not the year nor the situation to judge individuals on.. TEAM FAILED

100% agree. I also feel like this is a systemic issue with this team. The front office goes into each year expecting players to be better than they were the year before. IMHO this is a big mistake. The average NFL player will be worse than the year before. Especially if they just had a good year. QBs are the obvious exception to the rule. Expecting player to be better the year after a career year in their contract year is insane. Extending them a year or two before you need to because you somehow think you are going to get them locked them in on a "good deal" is insane.

This is spot on. Zeke had a bad rap coming out of college. It was true. The comp with he and Henry isn’t even a comp anymore. Henry is a much better player.

I wonder how many Cowboys fans were saying the same kind of things about Emmitt in 1994 when he averaged just 4.0 yards per carry of in 1996 when he averaged a career low of 3.7. Some of you would have been ready to toss him after that year.

Careers fluctuate. Sometimes a player does hit a wall and is done, but sometimes circumstances lead to them having a bad year in comparison to their other years. If there was ever a year where circumstances played a part in a down year, 2020 would be that year.

What is he supposed to say? Yeah, he stinks and his contract is a huge weight. Trying to find some sucker to trade him.

Sort of like your response when asked by wife if she looks fat in that dress.

This team is loaded with talent across the board. Just ask them.

Status Quo Cowboys. We're just a couple bargain bin players away from winning it all. No big changes needed.

Were we talking about Smith or Elliot? It was Elliot right? Since you are so determined to make the comparison why don’t your study the career trajectories of the 2. Hint - they are not in the same category. You keep clutching your Zeke doll if it makes you feel better though.

This isn’t 1990.

Doesn't matter what year it is.. If you only run the ball 30-35% of the time you're programming yourself to fail on offense. And as an added bonus you are exposing your defense unnecessarily. Football is not played in a vacuum. What one unit does impacts the other..

If that's the case then who the heck was the slug wearing 21 on gamedays this past season?
