I can see both sides. I agree that Dak is not elite, but I do think he is top tier behind the few elite guys. They're going to pay him--almost no doubt in my mind--so I'm preparing for that. Dak's performance in the post season has been heads and tails above Dalton's, but the defense has let him down. But can you build a good enough defense with the cap space he will command? I believe that you can, but it will not be as easy as it would be if you could go out and get a Lenard Williams, for example. You're really going to have to hit on some draft picks and lower tier FAs, which we have not done with any consistency.
Most everybody here have a view clouded by being a Cowboys fan. For the Dak detractors, I did a bit of research about a year ago as to (supposedly) objective views of Dak.
Nowhere did I find a reputable site (obviously I didn't go to a website like "Daksucks.com" or one that only dabbles in the NFL) that said Dak was a bad or even low end NFL level quarterback. Most had him top-10. as I recall the worst had him ranked like 20th.
So objectively speaking, he's not "trash" or "bottom feeder" or "worthless" or such.
If you are of the opinion that you can't win a SB without the "elite" quarterback, then you would want Dak replaced for sure. But you're going to have a hard time winning a SB in that case because "elite' quarterbacks are rare.
If he's resigned, I'll support him, though I feel free to criticize where I think he deserves it, but will also defend him if I think he's being unfairly knocked.
That's me, if others don't agree, cool. Just don't insist that I'm wrong and you're right. That's not cool...
