DON'T GO SOFT ON US!!!

I can't imagine it will happen, but something should. It will probably be like the situations with the Patriots where the league announces the Eagles are fined fifty bucks.

A fine would be crap. A move to pick 32 would be fantastic! I'd go out and buy a bottle! I'm not kidding. Buy a bottle and listen to Philly stations.

No. That's always been done and to a certain extent accepted.

It's also been fine historically for teams to sit players with any type of injury small or otherwise, as the Eagles did on Sunday.

It's never been fine to field a team of any sort and then not try to win with that team. The Steelers, as an example while resting for the playoffs did sit starters but they give Cleveland all they could handle and didn't decide to pull Rudolph when the game got close.

What the Eagles did was egregious and should never be acceptable.

Did any of you screaming that this is no big thing etc.. stop for one second and wonder why NFL players and coaches are getting upset by this particular scenario?

I agree, but there's three things that let me see the Eagles POV,

- They didn't ask to be flexed to primetime, that was the NFL's decision. If this happened at 10am slot maybe no one cares
- Why should the Eagles have to risk their players safety for a game that doesn't mean anything to them? What if Hurts tears his achilles and isn't ready for opening day next season?
- It's not the Eagles job to get us or the Giants into the playoffs. If we wanted to get in, we should have won an extra game

The way it happened is unprofessional, but I find it hard to be as mad as I was when I was watching the game.

This issue has been an argument on NY and Philly radio stations for part of the day. Trying to distinguish between purposely losing, and not caring whether you win or lose. There is a difference. Not much of one, but it exists.

I'd imagine there will be a lot of red cards next season between those two teams when they play each other. I expect a lot of hard hitting.

"Thank you Caller, since you are an Eagles Fan I'll defer to your knowledge of losing football games...."
I'm text-chatting with one of my best friends right now (he's from Philly) and he is not proud of what transpired.

Sadly, I think those day are over. Giants players are probably happy they're going home. Might even be out drinking with Eagles players.

From the Twitter reactions I saw? I don't think so. I think the Giants players are very pissed about what happened.

Teams do this crap a lot. The way they did it is causing attention. Doug should have just started Sudfeld if his intention was to lose.
Right, just put a phantom injury to Hurts' hurt (ha!) and be done with it.

Or move Philly to the spot they would have been in had they won, or better yet move them to the last spot among non-playoff teams.

I'm hoping you're right. Did you hear the clip from the Giants coach?

I did, and I think he'll have what happened as bulletin board material for both games that they play against Philly. Oh, and you know as well as I do that the fans won't let each other live that down. If that rivalry had been dormant between Philly and the NYG, I think it just got reborn. I think that Coach Judge will have the Giants rabid pissed. That is a matchup I am looking forward to next season. I hope they have it in NYG on Sunday Night with fans in the stands.

The Philly front office said they confirmed the injury to Hurts with a second opinion. They checked with a specialist and Dr Dick Hurts concurred with the original diagnosis.

Don't forget Nurse Joy along side him.

As an aside, I remember my grandmother having a dentist named Tor Butcher, lol.
