LVE is on a mission to keep his career going and collect those paychecks as long as her can. I like the guy, but since his neck injury he has to play very conscious of not hurting it again and this time being career ending, a la Billy Cannon Jr. Anyone remember him.?
If i was LVE i would probably play the same way, but i doubt i would get away with it unless JJ was my GM. So he will be safe i reckon.

Hes gonna be another Sean Lee. All World Potential but will always held back by injuries.

I dont trust him to give me atleast 12-14 games a season so might as well cut him.

Hes apparently just not made to play in the NFL with a chronic bad neck in his mid 20s.

Good for him at least he will try to prevent the injuries as best he can. Don’t give up.
Yeah I like hearing that he's disappointed in the season and is taking some personal responsibility for his play and working to improve. That was a long sentence. But it's refreshing to hear that from a player. I wish we had more of it.

I have no issues with LVE being a part of the team next year provided he is one of at least 5 LBs all of which are expected to play. The fact that we go into each season with two broke down LBs that are each expected to play 100% of the snaps is absurd.

Leighton Vander Esch will be around The Star for almost all of the offseason, frustrated that his 2020 season was slowed by collarbone and high ankle injuries. “I’m going to train my frickin’ butt off this offseason. I’m not really going anywhere. I’m going home for two weeks and I’m coming right back. I’m going to be here training all the way through February, March and April. That’s just what it is. I’m already looking forward to it. I’m on a mission, and I think all the guys should be too.”

Shouldn't he have been doing this since entering the NFL? Why does it take going into the season before his rookie 5th year option is picked up or not for him to now suddenly dedicate himself to improving?

I'm sorry but there just seems to be something about the Dallas Cowboys culture that encourages players to play at a middle of the road baseline and then try and go balls to the wall just before a new contract is due only to see those rewarded with a new contract revert back to that middle of the road baseline or worse.

Well, whichever team he plays for in the future, I wish him well.

If he stays in Dallas, well, hmmm.. ummm.. yeah.

He needs to work on that speed so he can get to the wrong gap quicker.
He needs to work on his penmanship so he can sign a contract with another team that’s looking for a POS linebacker who shouldn’t even be in amateur football.

Have too many needs to throw out every single linebacker.
LOL every one of the dudes we have now is total gl garbage with maybe exception of Thomas.

Jaylon and LVE - should be titled “Dumb and Dumber Do Dallas”

I'm sure the Cowboys will make available to LVE the top specialists in sports development and training to prepare his body better for the rigors of pro football.

Yeah i would be too after the crap he put on the field the very little time her was on it. And he is in a contract year next year......Soooo no matter how good he plays I would pass. Always injured. People talk about Jaylon Smith. Atleast he plays. The defense was trash last year. DT's were terrible. Not sure if it was the system or the players.

That was my first thought.

He would get one year garbage offers if he was a UFA this off-season, yet watch Jerry "lock him up" this summer at what isn't even a discount.

In my experience, I’ve found some of the best leaders are the ones who are the least vocal and let their actions do their talking for them.

Absolutely. That is more my style in person. But this team lacks top end talent especially on defense and lacks vocal leadership. I love cooper, talented, does the right things on/off the field but he's not the vocal leader to inspire these men to greatness or pull their heads out of their butts when they act a fool. We have some young guys who could benefit from stronger leadership.

Sean Lee Jr.? Really? I doubt your body would last even 2 years in the NFL. Lee's been playing 14 years total both college/pro's. Arghhh...

I still luv ya Mannix! :p

I know whatchya mean, I was always quiet and I never got behind the rah rah rah crap, IMOF I found it distracting. In any full contact sport I was in I never wanted nor needed a cheerleader. I preferred to isolate myself, listen to my violent music of choice and put myself in my own little insane world where I would think thoughts of my opponent that would get me arrested or committed. All it took was that first bit of contact and game on.

I can’t mention most of the things here but Bryan Cox was notorious for putting himself in a certain mindset before games by mentally making things up about the opponents he would face or by putting himself in a certain fictional situation before taking the field.

The mind is a very powerful tool and I’ve never understood how anyone needs to be motivated to win at anything, let alone a full contact sport where the guy across from you is trying to take your head off. Maybe I’ll ask zeke, he could give me first hand insight :lmao2:

But you’re right, there’s a lot of players on this team that seem to need motivation, nothing like smashing a few pieces of fruit with a sledgehammer to get a grown man fired up

So, it took a laughable season, for him to get motivated? What he said was good, but should that not be the voice of all of his teammates? These players, lift weights, lift weights, and lift weights. The Walter Paytons, of the league, lifted weights, but they worked intensely to train their minds and bodies. I here this quote every year, "Looks good in shorts". How about looking good during practice, on the field, studying the playbook, and learning during film sessions. Lipstick on a pig, may be attractive to some, but all I see is bacon.
