I think it is just a show as a respect for JG the man but deep down they won't mind him leaving which what Joe Judge wants
With his personality and skills JG will be a better administrator than a coach

As many issues I had with the Garrett era, in League circles he is a respected coach. Further, we all know and the League knows the true reasons Coaches don't succeed in Dallas. The culture is poisoned by two men sharing the same last name and DNA.

This could simply be akin to an employer giving a poor employee a good reference in order to get rid of them - happens all the time.

That’s not shocking. Regardless of how anyone feels about JG, it would be bad for a 3 yr QB to be in his third system.
They could always bring in someone who runs the same scheme.

I'm sure there are plenty of 90s dudes around that would love to work again.

Do you normally offer an extension 1 year into a deal? I'm not sure what the original deal was but I'm betting it was atleast 3 years.

They offered the defensive coordinator an extension after 1 season. That being said I don't know the original length of either deal.

Jason > Big Mike

If Mike was fired today, would any teams hire him?

Personally, I was hoping he would be there for a while and maybe steal the HC job there away by undermining the current HC. Ruin the Giants organization for a decade like he did here.

And who saw that coming? A year ago people laughed at the thought.

I’m still laughing. Chargers have like 5 interviews scheduled already and that’s before the playoffs. Zero chance they hire Garrett
