Figure out a way to slash Jaylon and Zeke's contracts while you're at it. Also bum Crawford should retire and that's one less albatross on the books.

Ranked top 5 in Passes over 20+ yards and accuracy of all throws 5+ yards
https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-ranking-all-32-nfl-quarterbacks-deep-passing

“In 2019, Dak Prescott was the second-most accurate quarterback in the NFL. He was the second-most accurate quarterback on third downs and the most accurate quarterback in the NFL on third-and-long. He was also the most accurate passer on straight dropbacks.”
https://heavy.com/sports/2020/06/cowboys-dak-prescott-qb-power-rankings-update/amp/

Outside of Mahomes, Wilson, and Rodgers there is no quarterback in the NFL that is better at the art of throwing the football than Dak Prescott.

Since late 2018 He’s become a very well rounded quarterback. I remember watching in 2016 and 2017 when he’d only stare at one side of the field for and entire game and couldn’t hit outside the hashes well.

Now he can consistently make all the throws, makes smart quick reads, and can read a defense quite well.

So...in two metrics for one year, not quite the lofty heights you claimed. And this:

Outside of Mahomes, Wilson, and Rodgers there is no quarterback in the NFL that is better at the art of throwing the football than Dak Prescott.

is laughable.

And he's top 5 all-time in TD:Int ratio.

Now that is something worth bragging about.

I think Dak was actually #3 all time in TD/INT ratio behind Rodgers and Wilson coming into this year but somebody who had an amazing season this year might have jumped him. Allen or Watson maybe?

Still Dak ranks really highly is a lot more than just those two metrics.. I think dude was just highlighting those..

By this logic Ryan, Stafford and Rivers should all have been shown the door the last several years. You keep wanting to harp on this "winning season" thing like Dak was playing a 1 on 1 pickup game against the other QB. No one has argued that Dak is Mahomes or Rodgers or even Wilson.. However when I flip through the Sunday Ticket channels I am hard pressed to find 10 guys playing the position at a higher level than he was. I might could find 5 or 6 (and that would require some squinting) but that's about it. Dak doesn't have to be Rodgers or Mahomes to win a Super Bowl.. last I checked they each have one more championship ring than you and I do.. Lots of guys NOT named Rodgers or Mahomes have won Super Bowls.. many of them while playing at a significantly lower level than Dak.. because they were playing for good TEAMS.

I see, so you believe that Ryan, Stafford and Rivers should have been paid 40 mil AAY, is that it? I mean, what do any of those QBs have to do with Dallas and Dak? The answer is nothing. They have nothing, at all, to do with the Cowboys and the situation Dak is in. That makes no sense at all. You say I'm "harping on winning seasons". OK, well, what exactly is the reason they play? Why do we spend hundreds and thousands of dollars to watch? Do you think that they do what they do and we do what we do so that we can watch them lose? Again, are you paying attention to what you are writing here? "Nobody is arguing that Dak is Mahomes or Rodgers", but you have no problem pointing out that he's not Bortals or Gabbert as justification for him to get paid 40 AAY right? Can't have it both ways. So, you are hard pressed to find 10 guys that do it better, so is this supposed to be a justification as to why Jerry should pay him 40 AAY? If so, then why are there not 9 other guys that are also getting this type of money? See, we can do this all day but in the end, what I say is true. He is not winning games so why should the team invest money that they don't have to invest? I mean seriously, lets get down to it. Why should the team do this? Because he isn't winning games, which is what this is all about. We've seen that other QBs can post similar results for far less. So why? Dak is not the reason this team wins. I'm sorry if you don't like that but it's true. Dak is not a top 5 or 6 QB in the NFL. Guys who get paid win games.

You say Dalton produced more wins.. Well maybe getting more opportunities had something to do with that. I mean he did start 9 games.. and the four teams he beat had a combined record of 21-41-2. He also lost 4 games by at least 17 points. Three of those came against teams with a losing record and the fourth was to the Cards who were 8-8. Say what you will about Dak, but he at the very least generally owned bottom feeder teams. Dalton went 4-3 against teams that finished .500 or worse. Dak went 6-1 against such teams last year and was 2-0 this year. Oh and he was 8-3 against those teams in 2018. You have to start by beating the teams you're supposed to beat. Then steal one or two a year against teams you're not supposed to beat. Until you eventually become the team that is supposed to beat everybody.

I don't "say" Dalton won more games, Dalton did win more games. There is no question of that. Dak started 5 games, he won 2 and that's being generous. He never finished the 5th game. Dalton started something like 9 games, he won 4. Dak started 5, he won 2 with the same team and truthfully, more talent. Again, you like to throw around the broken OL and RB thing but that situation only got worse later in the year. So Dalton won more games, he had a hire winning percentage and if somebody were to come and tell me that he deserved 40 mil, I'd call them crazy, but it's no more crazy then people trying to tell me that Dak deserves it. But do you really understand why? I don't think you do. The worth of a player is about results, like it or not. But hey, lets see what happens. We were told to pay Lawrence and we did. Where did that get us? We were told to pay Zeke, where has that gotten us? Now we hear, pay Dak......... Well, me personally, I don't want to hear it. I've heard enough, if the team decides to pay Dak 40 AAY, then they deserve what they get, he's not worth that, nobody is, so don't try and make this about a Dak vs Dalton thing. Dalton isn't demanding a record deal for posting a losing season. Supposedly going 6-1 against bottom feeder teams is not justification for getting paid an NFL record deal, no matter how much BS people throw against the wall. I mean seriously, did you expect that argument to justify the expense? You couldn't have. It's about results and a .500 record or a .400 record doesn't get it done. But again, if they want to pay him that, then the deserve what they get, but it doesn't make it smart.

The inability to see the future extends to everything.. including how the wunderkinds from college will pan out. You have to just play the percentages and what you believe is more likely to happen. Dak continues to improve and the team defensive draft picks and free agent pickups give you a decent defense to pair with your formidable offense or THIS year produces the first rookie QB in NFL history to lead his team to a Super Bowl. Mind you there is no right or wrong answer.. Every person is entitled to see it how they see it.. We all know the only person whose sight really matters is Jerry's. Pointing out that the cap will go down this year is being overly simplistic. Nobody saw Covid coming.. if in 2019 someone had said "there will be a disease in 2020 that will force teams to play in empty stadiums" I think most people would have agreed that the cap was going to go down because of the drop in revenue and no one would have argued it.

This might be the most ironic part of your post to me. "The inability to see the future" does extend to everything and that only supports the idea that it's wise to pay record deals to players who have never won anything in their entire careers? How does that work? There is a lot of history here and the history shows that as the talent on the roster declines, the teams performance does too. We depended on Coaching to get us over that and that failed miserably, as we witnessed ourselves. So now you propose to hamstring the cap, even further then it already is, there by, ensuring that we can make no moves to either keep existing talent who will need to be signed or go out and get anything other then basement bargain help that never pans out? No, that's plain dumb. If you really believed what you are saying above, then you would be on board with paying less for similar production that is proven through statistical analysis but you aren't. In fact, if I were to suggest another QB, other then Dak be brought in, no matter what the statistics suggested, I'd wager you would be against it. Am I wrong? I don't think I am because this isn't about performance with you. This is specifically about Dak, there is no objectivity here. You say nobody saw the cap going down. That's not true. People did warn of this but they were argued down. Now, you see people like you, saying that nobody could have known. Well, that aint true. People did know that this possibility existed. You can't use that as an excuse now. That's even more insulting, to be honest, to those of us who did try and warn everybody. Insult to injury I suppose. Yes, most people did not believe that the cap would ever go down but you are wrong about arguing it. There are some who did argue it, they argued the possibility of the cap going down or staying stagnant and they were summarily called stupid. And now, I hear the same argument again by the same people. Why on Earth should anybody believe it? Now, we are point blank being told that the cap is going down. We are being told that this could be multi year, depending on how long this thing goes and how long it takes for things to get back to normal, if they ever do. Yet, even knowing you were wrong about the cap and knowing that you can't know when things will get back to normal, you even say it in your statement above, "The inability to see the future extends to everything..", you would have me believe that it is wise to outspend the cap. Do you even understand how insulting that is? It's basically selling a line of BS and expecting people to believe its because they are to stupid to understand that it's BS. Good Lord.

No, I don't think I'm gonna do that.

As for running the team on "I thinks".. every aspect of sports is an "I think." There are no guarantees of anything.. Like I said.. it's in the percentages. Nothing more, nothing less. We all know the cap is probably doing down in 2021 but we don't know how much. We also know that the NFL and the networks are going to do everything in their power to make sure it's a one time deal. And once the NFL starts shopping games out to streaming services and taps into that worldwide audience, it's gonna be on an poppin. I believe we will see a 50 million dollar a year player by 2025. And it won't even be a big deal.

The cap is not probably going down, it is going down and we've already been told that it's going to be 22 mil plus or plus 11% from 2019 but I ask you, how does it make sense to escalate cost out by a significant percentage at QB if you know that the cap is going down, even if it's a small amount, which it won't be. Hell, if the cap were staying the same, how would that be a smart move? Dak wants a four year deal and we've already been told that cap is going down this season, likely next season from 2020 or at the very least, staying stagnant and it's even been suggested that it will continue on into 2022, depending on how much it costs to normalize in salaries at lower revenue and how long Covid lasts. In short, suggesting that we plan on being able to deal with these contract demands, when you yourself acknowledge the "The inability to see the future extending to everything.." is reality. Seems like a broken record but I have to ask again, do you honestly read what you write? Are you listening to yourself?

Honestly Ronnie, you do more to justify why we shouldn't be considering paying Dak or any QB that kind of money, in your own posts, then I ever could.

The championship formula is usually:

1) Elite quarterback
2) elite defense with a relatively cheap quarterback

I don't think elite defense with a non-elite expensive quarterback is likely to work. Maybe someone can think of examples.

Looking at some data online, it seems like Brad Johnson and Joe Flacco were making 6-7 percent of the salary cap. What would the Dak salary be?

You can surely tell Dak is the one with the most leverage, the way Jerry is tossing bouquets at him!
Great way to negotiate poorly, JJ. Jerry defines Dak as elite, yet negotiates like he doubts it.

Suffice it to say, the FO reps can't gain any respect by dealing disingenuously with their players!

This makes me wonder how jerry would describe mahomes !! lol and how much would he have paid mahomes ? probably a billion for 5 years.
Or does jerry think dak is as good as mahomes?? as good as rodgers? wilson? burrows? trevor etc.
we already know he thinks dak is better than brady.

I was thinking earlier, with the 2 TE we have now in dalton and jarwin, and good rb's good wr's, just imagine if they got brady and let him design
his style of offense and plays, and let him call his own plays ! I think it would be a SB year.
Arians is killing brady in his screwball outdated offense, and TB still made playoffs.

Brady was his best when he had the 2 good TE's .

I no longer care , just day dreaming lol.
Heck jerry can pay dak 50 mil a year on a 10 year or 4 year deal doesnt matter to me.
*Hahaha, yeah for real,
as the mediocre bland attire of inconsequential is our issued battle dress uniforms of the day,huh?:lmao2:

You wanna try and convince me that Peyton Manning was elite in 2015? And he sure as hell wasn't cheap..
And nobody will ever describe KC's defense as "elite." Opportunistic? Sure.. Elite? not unless they've changed the definition.
New England's defense was elite.. however Brady wasn't on no rookie deal in 2018 and he certainly was not playing at an elite level that year.
Eli Manning was neither elite nor cheap in 2007 or 2011.

Flacco was elite for basically one season and it got him paid a ton o money.. after which he never delivered that level of play again.

Oh and championship formula is "build a good team." However you construct it really isn't relevant. Good defense, good offense.. Great defense okay offense, good special teams.. Great offense, okay defense, spectacular special teams. If you get them all playing at a high level at just the right time you have a chance to win the whole thing. If one of them poops the bed at the wrong time you're screwed.. Period.

Part of me hopes the Cowboys don't sign Dak.. just so I can have the fun of calling out all the people who said they shouldn't sign him when they start posting about how stupid Jerry was for not signing him..
