Keeping in mind that Deshawn Watson is under contract for the next 5 years at a cap hit average of 33 m/yr and is coming off an outstanding season on a cruddy team....

105.3 The Fan was asking its listeners the other day if they would make this trade:

  • Dallas trades 27 year old Dak Prescott (and his expected 40 m/yr for 5 years asking price) plus their 2021 1st rounder

  • Houston trades 25 year old Deshawn Watson (ave cap 33 mil for nxt 5 years)

Would you do it?
No

Nah just keep dak. Give him around 33 mil a year. Thats plenty. Or just tag and try trade him or wait to sign him next year him.

Why? Not all that much difference between the two. Dak is more consistent, Watson's a bit better playmaker.

I like Watson, and if he was my team's QB I'd be pretty darn happy. At the same time, don't let fantasy football fool you. Watson has done absolutely nothing that Dak hasn't as well. In fact, they have many similarities. Zero reason to go after Watson.

Watson is overrated and no way in hell I trade a 10th pick for what could be a straight up QB swap.

rather trade him for a top QB in this draft
No quarterback in this draft will be better than Deshaun Watson or Prescott.

Do you know how hard it is for a quarterback to average 30+ touchdowns, 100+ passer rating, and less than 10 interceptions a season?

Only 1st round picks drafted in the past 20 years that have are...

Deshaun Watson, Aaron Rodgers, and Patrick Mahomes.

If you include rounds 2 through 7....

Only Russel Wilson and Dak Prescott make that list also.

It's their question, not mine.

ftw the people on the show--all big Dak fans--and the people that called in, overwhelmingly said Dallas should make that trade.

Their argument is that
1) you get a better QB (although some here may not agree, 99% of the rest of the league does)
2) who is younger than Dak and
3) costs 7 mil a year less on the cap/yr over 5 years.

Agree or not, that was the argument.

I figured, this being a Cowboy fan site, the number saying take Watson would be far less than what the rest of the NFL fan base would say.
Looks like I was right, so far.

They are almost the same QB.

There's no F ng.way they make such a STUPID trade.

Pay more for an inferior QB?

I like Dak but he's no Watson.

Very sad response. I think you're conversing way too much w/ the Daksters. You've got this bile built up like ol' Rocky and simply spew it out, even when you don't have the slightest clue. Can you try to at least come up w/ a logical response?

Mr arrogant, HOW'S THIS FOR A CLUE = LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!

They won’t.

Trevor Lawrence is Carson Wentz 2.0 with better accuracy but less athleticism. He will lead the Jaguars to 7-9 for the next decade.

Justin Fields will either be absolutely elite in the same mold as a bigger more athletic Russel Wilson/Steve Young or just another athletic quarterback with one great year who eventually fizzles out (Like Cam Newton)
