Well good, because Steinauer is an experienced pro football coach, just not NFL.

I'm definitely intrigued by Steinauer just don't know much about him. I am sure there are other options too, I just don't want to see some guy come in like Nolan that has been given a zillion chances already and ultimately failed everywhere they've been. This includes old farts like Wade, Marvin Lewis etc. When the Cowboys hired Wendstedt and Norv, they were young no-names. Look what it got us? Oh the horror. LOL

Here's something that may help

He went 15-3 in 2019 in his first year as HC. He'd been DC in the CFL for a while along with 1 season at Fresno State. Not a bad start! He also used to play DB and PR, so he understands what a good DB looks like and the importance of field position.

Here's a game from week 3 of the 2019 season:

Unfortunately, nothing available from the 2020 season as there was no 2020 CFL season.

Only thing is, I noticed that he does clap. Something Jerry might like though.

Yeah they won't even sniff him I bet. We are looking at "known" commodities in Dallas probably until well after Jerry is pushing daisies.

No doubt. I don't expect them to even try to sniff him for a job. Just a shame that we won't. I'd love to see what happens.

What happened with his time at Fresno, do you know?

Oh, and in 2017, Fresno State won the Hawaii Bowl against the University of Houston 33-27. Not bad. Not quite sure why he went back to the CFL. I guess he must just like Canada.

A lot of people in the NFL really like him.

He's someone I'm very interested in. I would love to see us hire someone that is fresh and young. I hate that we lost out on Eberflus.
Yeah, I tend to see things similarly to that. I want some young, up and coming mind that has a ton of energy and the players can relate to.

We have that in Moore on offense, now if we could just get Leonhard (or someone like him), then Dallas would have them on both sides of the ball. Then, McCarthy’s experience and leadership would be fine and a source of guidance.

That should be the goal.

Exactly, and so Leonhard would be a nice compliment to Moore. He's the kind of player that the players I think would go for. I think younger coaches like him would be able to be more creative with their defencive schemes. We need that.

I like that Jim Schwartz values DTs and displays fire and brimstone with his coaching. I also would love for Schwartz to take this tenacity to the Eagles. Jim Schwartz really understands defensive line schematics and also understands that games are won in the trench. I was pissed that Dallas did not hire him after the Lions fired him.

My 2nd choice is Matt Patricia. He was excellent in New England at taking away a team’s #1 receiver and RB. Patricia’s in-game and half-time adjustments were 2nd to none.
I mean this dude is a 2 time eagle so I can't even consider Schwartz and the fact he made Andy Dalton look like Aaron Rodgers is simply unforgivable.
Our CBs are pretty awful and he wants to play man every play. No sir, no chance.

Matt Patricia is my top choice.
He is a hard coach and players get super agro with him but you can use that in a turn around type situation where you are drafting a lot of kids to play early.
Hold people accountable and coach them hard.

My second choice is Wade. I think his 1 gap 3-4 would be perfect here short term and allow them to grow into a multiple scheme in a year and a half.
He can bring along Sean Lee who was drafted into Wade's defense.

Just someone outside the box at this point would be a miracle and refreshing. Doubt we'll see it but with all the re-tread names being thrown out, I am not optimistic of much change...

Yeah, I sadly doubt it as well, but just an attempt at something outside the box would be nice. Sure, the league might catch up after a season or two, but gotta try something! Just something unusual and creative would help our defence be much improved because offenses wouldn't know what to look for. That means just as much as experience imo.
