Nah just keep dak. Give him around 33 mil a year. Thats plenty. Or just tag and try trade him or wait to sign him next year him.
He already turned way more that down.
He wouldve been signed long ago for 33 or even 35
The tag will be 37.5 this year

Tag dak, play him to showcase him with 8-yard dinks. then trade him. does this work?
get Watson and offer a No. 3 rounder.

Thats about all I'd offer him after that injury tbh. Most likely better off tagging him again and see how he does next season. Imo

Keeping in mind that Deshawn Watson is under contract for the next 5 years at a cap hit average of 33 m/yr and is coming off an outstanding season on a cruddy team....

105.3 The Fan was asking its listeners the other day if they would make this trade:

  • Dallas trades 27 year old Dak Prescott (and his expected 40 m/yr for 5 years asking price) plus their 2021 1st rounder

  • Houston trades 25 year old Deshawn Watson (ave cap 33 mil for nxt 5 years)

Would you do it?
I would not do this. There's several reasons why. For the record I am a Dak fan.
1. We are not entirely sure what Dak and agent have said as far as average per year contract demands. So it has been speculation of him wanting Mahomes money. But we do not know for an absolute fact that Dak is wanting 40 million a year. Personally if Dak wants that I hope we do not sign him for that much or backload the contract and if he doesn't progress into a 40 million a year QB then we can cut him. I'm a Dak fan but not for 40 million a year. But part of the hypothetical trade is the fact that Dak wants 40 million a year and we don't know if that is true. I believe another member of this board clarified that it wasn't the money but the years of the contract. I would love Dak for 35 for 4 years. So part of this deal is off because we don't know exactly what Dak contract demands are.
2. I'm not sure if I want Watson. I just saw on ESPN that the owner wants to sit down with Watson to address Watson's unhappiness that the Texans picked a GM that he didn't refer or recommend. That to me is a deal breaker. If Watson is that high maintenance that he wants to pick the GM for the team then no way. Dallas has enough problems with inmates running the asylum. If Watson feels he should be consulted when the team makes a GM hire then he is the most powerful person in the organization. We don't want that headache here. If Watson gets to pick the GM for the team and that doesn't work out then already there is going to be locker room division and problems. If I am the owner of the Texans I would have a "sit down" with Watson and tell him that he's under contract and he's an employee. That would be the only discussion I would have with him. It's a slippery slope when players pick GM's. What if it doesn't work out, then the fans and other teammates look to Watson for responsibility. Very slippery slope. JMO on this hypothetical trade.

Good question for debate tho, as I sit here typing I think he only way I would be happy with this hypothetical trade is if Jerry and Dak couldn't get a contract resolved and Jerry knew that Dak was going to leave after next year. Then I would put Dak on the trading block and maybe try to get Watson or draft picks. No sense having a lame duck QB that you can't build around if it's for sure he would be leaving. Then I would look to tag and trade him.

Lol, one more thing, is there any scenario we can trade Dak's brother to another fanbase? I would do that in heartbeat.

Some say more than that, but I think it's in the 39-41 range. Guess we'll see.
We know he turned down something in the 35-37 range already.
I dont know what Dak is asking for but at some point there has to be a line in the sand and Dallas need to make up their mind what they think he is worth and than let Dak make the call by either accepting it, trading him or letting him hit the FA market. If Dak really wanted to be here this deal would of been done.

well it is irrelevant, houston would not trade watson. Why should they? Why would they think dak is better or as good. Now the 1st round pick is incentive though.
But this is also not in the jones boys boathouse. They would never make any innovative trades.
I mean if houston did it, then heck trade watson away too and try and come away with a bunch of draft picks yourself. Draft a new qb.

I mean the main gripe on dak is he costs too much and watson also costs too much.
If dallas had a good defense then maybe they could make a SB run, but as is having a fairly good qb at big cost is useless, because they are not
going to make it to a SB, they are years away from having a defense good enough, and then add in MM and kellen, those 2 will keep dallas out of SB's
too. Those 2 need a 1970 dallas defense to win a SB. and that aint happening.

No quarterback in this draft will be better than Deshaun Watson or Prescott.

Do you know how hard it is for a quarterback to average 30+ touchdowns, 100+ passer rating, and less than 10 interceptions a season?

Only 1st round picks drafted in the past 20 years that have are...

Deshaun Watson, Aaron Rodgers, and Patrick Mahomes.

If you include rounds 2 through 7....

Only Russel Wilson and Dak Prescott make that list also.
How many other quarterbacks had the offensive line that Prescott had 2016-2020?

Baker Mayfield has had a good offensive line this season and he suddenly looks like a very good quarterback...weird

I wouldn't trade the 10th pick away.... 2nd round maybe. If Dak and his clan are that greedy that no matter what offer the Cowboys send they are going to not take it, might as well start talking about things like this. I'm a Dak fan too but it is what it is. Watson would do damage with this offense too. No doubt.

save that pick !

we need a new RT.

Dallas can out Collins deal after 2021.

Don’t think they can trade Dak at the moment.

also, he’s healing from the freak injury.

Houston was 4-12. He obviously can’t carry a team and that quality has been very important to our QB critics.
