Don't understimate the Jones' constant effort to appear clever.

I really like Collins. His film is amazing. He flashes when watching games live. If he tests well, 10 is not crazy, still seems high for him though.

I watched him play against SMU and really watched him closely. What I really noticed where ever the ball is it seemed he was making plays and creating havic for the Tulsa Defense.

This team needs to address the middle of the defensive line or it won't matter who is playing linebacker!

Thing is, no matter who we pick in the first, we need to keep drafting defense in the other rounds too, because we need DL, LB, and CB/S equally bad.

We're not going to solve all of that with one player. So the way I look at it is, get the top defensive prospect at 10 and keep filling in the rest of the holes in the remainder of the draft. Collectively, our defense will be better than if we target a specific position

Completely agree. Yes, we need talent on the d-line but we can’t force the situation if the available talent doesn’t suit the pick.

The 1st round is probably not the place to address the interior. But there will be guys worth taking in round 2 and after. Our interior on the DL my be the worst in football. No stand outs or depth. We have neglected the position for so long now we are almost forced to address it from a needs standpoint. Look at the DL for the teams in the division. It’s embarrassing. We’re lucky that the QB’s in the division are mediocre. This allows us to compete for the division right until the end. The help will not come in FA. It never does. If that’s going to be our approach it has to be the draft.

Have to disagree. You know who addresses interior DLine in the first? Belechick. SF. LARams. Pitt. BALT. TENN. BUFF. GB.

These guys often sit back and watch the mediocres grab up the skill position players, then sit back and take the true super bowl bringers, the trenches. Wilfork was a 1st rounder. Hampton. Kenny Clark for GB, who BTW is prolly the most important piece to their rise back to super bowl contenders. A team should constantly be looking for DLinemen.

Agree with you K it’s just an awful year for 1st round DTs. Not a single one.

Best options are 2nd rounders where I’d love to get a dude like McNeil or Wilson.

You absolutely draft a DT if players like you mention are available. But there not. Doesn’t mean we can’t use a 2nd and even 3rd on the position.

I'd love to land Collins, but I can't see Dallas taking him at 10. But who knows? Maybe they know better, maybe they make a move.

IMHO, LB is probably the biggest need we have on defense.
Smith just isn't playing consistent enough and can even be a liability at times.
LVE is good, when he's on the field, but he is constantly hurt.
Lee is done and about to retire.
Who else do we have? Thomas is a FA that I hope we resign but is really just a decent player.
March, Benard and Gifford are just depth bodies at this point. I have some hope for Benard to take a step forward but can't rely on that.

If the first pick doesn't weigh 320 pounds and can get consistent penetration into the backfield I'm not interested.

I don't think you're going to like our pick because I guy like that, who will go in rd 1, doesn't exist in this draft.

COLLINS is just a good football player. I dont care what round we draft him. Just bring in gritty smart ball players. The rest takes care of itself. Oline would be my pick at 10. We need to address the tackle position. DLINE looks weak in round 1. DONT see much worth drafting early on the dline.

btw SOME scouts think Collins can become a safety.Like Woody did for us. I rather just play him at linebacker.

It doesn't really exist in the entire NFL lol.
You really really really need to pay more attention to football.

Reader, Goldman, Jarron Reed, Kenny Clark, Fletcher Cox, Kawaan Short, Daquan Jones. I mean, you have to live in a vacuum to no know this. Brandon Williams, Michael Pierce, Suh, Hicks, Guy.

one thing, Quinn SHOULD help LVE improve. Not sure he can do much for Jaylon. He is what he is.

I spoke to soon on him. After watching him more and changing my pick a million times I'm stuck on Collins. Hes as blue chip as you can get. If he went to Alabama nobody would say 10 is too high. His tape is flat out better than parsons. The run defense is comparable. Pass defense gap is a joke.

Step in the right direction. Front 7.

If we draft Collins and replace Smith with him, we're treading water. Sure, he may be an improvement, but we've got actual position

My preference is we trade back in the first and take the top DT. Then, we take another one in the second, with either our pick or the one we got in the trade down. Corner or safety would be my preference with the other second-rounder, but all of it will depend on what we do in free agency.

Only backer I’m taking at 10 is Parsons. He’s an elite prospect with All- Pro upside. In a draft absent a lot of top end defensive talent he’s definitely worth taking at 10.
