Watson isn't asking to pick the GM or coach, the FO came to him wanting his input on who he'd prefer. He gave them a list supposedly and they didn't even interview anyone on the list. From what I heard, he wasn't asking for poor choices either. Why the hell would you ask him for his opinion then throw it in the trash? Texans are one of, if not, the worst run team in the league.
I agree, and what you just said is a prime example of how poorly they're run. I don't think it's a good idea that players are asked their opinions on personnel issues. So the fact that they asked him first put Watson in a no win situation. They gave him too much power. With that happening I wouldn't want Watson to feel he could have that power in Dallas.

It reminds me when Jerry got Troy's input on which TE to draft in '98. Troy worked out a couple and then they drafted David LeFluer. In my opinion that sends a bad message to the rest of the team that one guy can influence who gets drafted. Owners pick GM's and coaches and players. The players play. Any diveation of that and you develop a dysfunctional environment were some players have more power than others and that can cause division in the locker room.

I don't fault Watson as much as the Texans. But I wouldn't want Watson on my team if he is used to having an opinion on personnel. That would be toxic.

Keeping in mind that Deshawn Watson is under contract for the next 5 years at a cap hit average of 33 m/yr and is coming off an outstanding season on a cruddy team....

105.3 The Fan was asking its listeners the other day if they would make this trade:

  • Dallas trades 27 year old Dak Prescott (and his expected 40 m/yr for 5 years asking price) plus their 2021 1st rounder

  • Houston trades 25 year old Deshawn Watson (ave cap 33 mil for nxt 5 years)

Would you do it?

Watson is worse than Dak when it comes to holding onto the ball too long in a threatened pocket. Watson is a better passer than Dak, but I think I will keep Dak and my draft pick which I hope can improve this defense.

In a heartbeat. Watson would be as good as mahomes with the same supporting cast and surroundings. That org. has done him no favors.

He is a way better qb than dak and pretty much anyone else in the league.

Watson, controls the game, much better than Dak. But that trade would be ridiculous.

I wouldn't trade the 10th pick away.... 2nd round maybe. If Dak and his clan are that greedy that no matter what offer the Cowboys send they are going to not take it, might as well start talking about things like this. I'm a Dak fan too but it is what it is. Watson would do damage with this offense too. No doubt.

wasn’t the last leaked story that Dak agreed to the contract but asked for a clause that didn’t allow the franchise tag?

Dak and Watson are similar QBs. Why would we have to trade Dak and the 10th pick for Watson? Are they devaluing Dak because he's not under contract?

In a heartbeat.

Heck i would trade another 1st round pick for him.

But i doubt Houston will do it.

Watson is a franchise QB.

You seriously need to stop and start watching him play. You should get your NFL card taken away for putting their names in the same sentence.

I'd trade Dexter Coakley and a 4th rounder for Watson.
