This seems like an overreaction to a new staff with no offseason, a lost franchise QB and historic levels of OL, Secondary and DT injuries. Not to mention a defensive staff that failed in nearly every regard. Maybe we should wait to see how the second season goes.

As far as the defensive coordinator search goes... I’m not thrilled so far with the candidates, but I do think there will be a lot of interviews before a decision is made.
I’ll give him until the first half of the first quarter of the first preseason game.

So two no names in a way from secondary coaches to DC. Whitt and Simmons. Is that an indication they want secondary experience to redo the secondary, and will target S and CB in the draft.

Yes it is a reach but just throwing it out there. :muttley:
If that’s the way they go, maybe we’ll at least get a good safety high in the draft. Seems like it’s been 20 years or more since they’ve picked one. Would sure like a proven DC though.

Just find someone who semi sort of knows how to run some sort of defense that can semi sort of stop someone!!!

Is THAT too much to ask?

I would relax about these interviews now.

We likely aren’t going to sign a DC until after the super bowl concludes and we interview as many as possible.

This is likely Mike just helping his former guys getting looks
Exactly. You put your guys names in the news to raise their profile.

People complaining about how coaching networks operate just haven’t been paying attention for the past .... 100 years?

How the hell do they think we got Jimmy?

But they kept our secondary coaches. When the report came out that Brandon Carr had issues with a DB coach I for sure thought one of both would be fired.
The new DC will likely be named and then some of the existing position coaches will be replaced as well.

It’s a process

Yeah, but does that really mean anything? I mean, a player like Aaron Donald and a CB like Jalen Ramsey and a LB like Leonard Floyd can make a lot of DCs look good.

Gallimore, Diggs, and Jaylon doesn’t float your boat?

If we could find another coach from a horrifically unsuccessful squad and hire them....
Seems to be the trend...Marinelli, Nolan, rumors of Patricia...
Do we even want to win?

Jason Simmons was Passing Coordinator / DB Coach for the Panthers this Season.

The Panthers ranked 26th in Total Defense but they ranked 2nd in Pass TD allowed and 11th in Pass Yards allowed which is very good.

Atleast much better than Whitt Jrs bottom ranked Falcons Secondary.

I like your optimism that the issues are injuries and covid related circumstances. But all teams adjust . Plus we were losing with Dak and the intact OL . Not sure Dak is the savior either .
Plus , the judgement of MM has to be questioned when you have him believing Nolan is the answer .

This goof McCarthy is obsessed with who he knows . But his most success was with a guy he didnt coach with. You'll join Nolan soon buddy

Yea this fools logic of hiring guys you are comfortable with is the problem. You need guys who will push, challenge and question you.
