Now the Earl Thomas speculation is starting again. *puke emoji*

I know you're joking but if he's hired, it's not a reach to think Earl Thomas or Richard Sherman to Dallas talks could surface

  • RICHARD SHERMANDB, SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

Contract-year CB Richard Sherman doesn't expect to re-sign with the 49ers.
Sherman, who doesn't have an agent, said his doubts about remaining with the 49ers are based on the salary cap and conversations with the team. San Francisco is expected to prioritize extensions for LT Trent Williams and LB Fred Warner this offseason, leaving them with limited cap space. 32-year-old Sherman spent nine weeks on IR with a calf injury, but has been productive when healthy, posting 14 tackles and an interception in three games. The five-time Pro Bowler will have interest from teams if he reaches free agency.

This has to be a Jones hire.

McCarthy explicitly stated he didn't want a one call defense.

Yeah and McCarthy also thought hiring Mike Nolan would be a good idea and it translated to us having the worst defense in Cowboys history.

sherman been hurt alot and when he did play this year he wasnt very good. THAT SAID, on a slight discount, I would bring him in. He and Wilson, Diggs would be a nice trio.

This sounds like a great potential hiring.

The bold part I noted above. The game sometimes passes this guys by. We should be looking to bring in new blood at DC IMO, not re-tread that plays a system that might be antiquated in today's NFL.

I did try to warn you.. If Nolan was fired it would be back to the old ways.

I like the hire... Quinn is a helluva defensive coordinator. He has pieces to work with here like Gregory, Lawrence, Wilson and Diggs.

me too. I said it alot, but why not at least call Lovie Smith and see if there's any interest? The man knows what he is doing coaching defense. Did it a long time.

He's too far removed from the NFL imo. The game has changed immensely over the past 10 years.

I think with a full offseason Nolan would have been better. His theories about defense being multiple and attacking are much better than the cover 3 crap we saw from Richard. Sam Darnold said it was the easiest defense to pick apart.

I personally did not know Dan Quinn was at Florida prior to joining Seahawks... where he Ran a multiple Defense some 3-4 and 4-3 depending on opponent and play. hopefully he brings that to our defense.

I really wouldn’t like this hire.

The Legion of Boom was a Gus Bradley and Carroll creation, not a Dan Quinn creation.

This would be my biggest hesitation. I'm always wary of coaches who had their greatest success under a head coach who specializes on the same side of the ball. It was the same with Marinelli. His greatest successes came when he was a coordinator under defensive-minded coaches.

That doesn't mean, though, that a coach under a defensive-minded head coach can't go on to his own success, and Quinn had it temporarily with Atlanta.
